I wasn’t tracking my mileage at first. I get so many oil changes I started tracking it that way. Now I will download Everlance after this video. Thanks so much for all you do!
I use the most simple metod: the mileage on the yearly inspection shows total miles, example 36000 miles difference between each inspection, I deduct the 40% because just restaurant to customer are paid miles, non return to base miles or to house miles this is 14400 miles. 58 cents each mile I deduct $8352 car expenses a year and this cover fuel and maintenance and month payments.
Make a video on how do actually use the apps. I search for hours on RUclips and just has people talking about how it works. I want to see it actually be used bro. Lol before I start dashing
Thanks soooo much. I use stride and I love it. I just start and stop when done. I didn't realize you had to wait until you got to the restaurant first. Thanks for all your easy explaining videos that you put out.
It is technically your commute, same as driving from home to a regular job. FWIW and IMO the home office stuff mentioned in the video is pushing it, I'd be careful about claiming you have one unless it is exclusive space. (There ARE some exceptions, but you need to be careful.)
Question: you said you can’t start counting miles until you reach the first restaurant. What if your active on the app while you drive to the first restaurant? Then can you count those miles?
I've been using Everlane since August but I didn't know about the stipulation about not starting it until you get to your first restaurant. I set it to automatically start as soon as I left my house so how do I handle this come tax time? I really ask this because I've seriously thought of having my taxes prepared by H&R Block or whoever because I'm petrified I'm going to screw up since I've never done this before.
I don't think it really makes. The Government isn't gonna come after you for 20 dollars of deducted mileage that was 'wrong' and worst come to worse if you got audited and they some how found out you were 'lying' you just pay them back. Not a huge deal.
BRUH! Thanks for the 411! Your videos are super informative. I feel you should remind people more often about the importance of deductions for taxes and/or insert a link of this video in your upcoming videos. Keep up the great work 💯💯💯!

No. It needs to be a dedicated office for your business that is not used for any other personal purpose. I have also heard that deducting a home office is a good way to get audited but I have never needed to deduct a home office so I wouldn’t know personally.
which one do you use bent? I'm using Hurdlr but it doesn't accept Dasher Direct Visa, which really sucks. I've been using Hurdlr anyway for miles and receipts.
When using a mileage tracking app do you need to put the name of the restaurant your picking up from and the address where you delivered to for each delivery to be IRS compliant??
So with the mileage tracker do I start it once I leave my house or when I get to the first order to start the tracker(I live 23 miles out from the closest hotspot to start my dash) when should I start it.
I think you have to designate a space in your home as an office with the irs to be able to start it when you leave your house. Otherwise it’s when you get to the first restaurant for your first order.
so i don’t have a home office do i have to track each delivery from when i pick it up and drop it off or can i keep it active from the first restaurant until the end of the dash?
Keep it active from the time you are active on the gig app till you turn the app off. If you are “willing and available” to take orders you can claim that as business miles.

So after we pick up our first order from the very first restaurant that we pick up from, can we keep track of the miles to every restaurant after that?
I use stride but sometimes i forget to take it off at the end of the day. My question is can I just leave the app on while I’m working and then turn it off at the end of the day or does it have to be turned on and off for each individual delivery? If you can have stride on for the duration of my dash would forgetting to turn it off be a problem because the time is wrong but the miles would not be I have always wondered this I hope you can help
