    We just ordered 2000m of XLR cable and we get our Logo printed onto the cable.
    No need of tape or other labeling.
    For length I we use color ring on the plug. You can save a lot of money 🤑 if you make the cables yourself and you can make sure the soldering is done clean and proper 🧐

      I don’t disagree with making your own cables but when you have thousands of cables on hand already breaking them down to buy a label on them and re soldering isn’t practical.

    We color code our cables to length with E tape then slap a logo sticker right behind it and shrink wrap it all. some cables even have barcodes. It’s a very clean look we employees can easily identify in the field. Our XLR have color coded cable ties according to their length.

    We also color coded the lids and sometimes the whole truck if ordered for a specific purpose. The trunks were color coded by type of gear inside so help spot type of gear behind stage. Plus many places we had venue people to help us unload and we could tell them to just keep anvil case group by lid color.
    Small bands or small DJ's still have a lot of cables, but money and size of trunks is out of their reach. We'd use the fiberboard drums cases, they are inexpensive and can be found used a lot. They aren't too big so can fit into a van or even a car trunk. For longer and thicker cables we'd use floor tom cases, and shorter thinner like mic cables use ride tom cases. Plus being round wound up cables lay perfectly. Having cases helps a lot and keeps from ending up with milk crates full of a spaghetti of cables crammed into them. I'm a guitarist and I used to use a fiberboard bongo case for my pedals, cables, and etc. Drum cases work well for things other than drums.

    Now that was the best, cleanest cable ID idea I've seen so far! Thank you sir.

    The zip tie idea is GENIUS! I have been flagging all mine with gaffers tape but this is not only easier, but probably much longer lasting.

    That’s how I do it here... custom cable from A local company. They use heat shrink like your logo one but I have my name, phone number, & length on it. Then for the dmx cable the neutrik connectors XLR ends have color changeable rings, so I have them use purple rings on the XLR end and purple heat shrink

    An other great way to mark your cables is a Neutrik connector with interchangable colorrings that you can use to distinglish between xlr/dmx and lenghts

    I went with custom velcro with my logo, but the zip tie method is a good economical approach. Just hope people use flush cutters to cut then ends- no one likes a sharp zip tie!

    "...A. That it's a power cable and B. That it's mine..." Bro...this is gonna save me so much time not having to argue about cables after shows. "Is that my cable?...No that's mine....Nope, I'm pretty sure that's my cable..."

    I do the clear heat shrink thing over a label. I use different colors for length ranges. You can even get 4-to-1 (or greater) shrink tubing which makes it easy to retrofit the already-made stuff. I personally think the zip tie looks like something that was left on the cable and my OCD just wants to cut it off (haha!). I also can't help my brain from saying "zip tie! it's probably pinched the insulation!" no matter how gently it was applied. I know this is a personal issue....

    Only residue zip ties leave is the blood from my hands as I coil it. Ouch, no thanks. One of the few times I disagree with you.

    • @DjWooPig
      @DjWooPig  4 года назад +4

      These are craft/hobby zip ties made from much thinner plastic. With flush cutters they don’t leave anything for you to cut yourself in.

    • @daledjfire268
      @daledjfire268 4 года назад

      The other trick to zip ties is twist the tail off don't cut them, they will break off and not leave the sharp edge.
