Does your glow plug light come on all the time when you turn the key on or do they only come on below a certain temperature?

Comes on no matter what, but it only stays on 6 or 7 seconds. So that means turning the key off and on 10 or 15 times. ...I miss the classic glow plug BUTTON of my trusty old 262B
