ChimScan video inspection of masonry chimney from the fireplace up to the top. The chimney was terracotta clay material. This chimney is sealed at the top. There were multiple areas of missing and eroded mortar between the joints creating open areas. These conditions will result in a poor overall draft. This fireplace cannot be used unless the top is unsealed. I recommend a steel liner is installed inside the chimney to restore the draft.
