What a great episode, and happy your including your mates shenanigans in the episodes! When i think of the ocean I always imagine constant wind and high waves and storms so quite surprising how cal it can get. Looking forward to day 4. Looking forward to day 4! Thanks,
Your comments on the temperatures during the day being warm and then dropping at night remind me of when I first came to Canada from SA. Came inside in winter and said "Even though it is sunny it is still freezing"
Yes. Canada is like that. If it is sunny in the winter it can be somewhat pleasant. As soon as the sun goes down, look out because the temp drops fast. I guess we didn't expect that near Africa. You think Africa = Hot. That antarctic current was what really sucked the heat out of the air at night.
Dolphins in the dark ! I expect they were having fun with you using sonar only. I have been informed that them rascals are really really good at sonar. LOL
Sounds like you should have just played the song, " what shall we do with the drunken sailor". All the channels I follow, Delos, Nahoa, La Vagabonde, Ruby Rose Have a rule. No alcohol while sailing . Its just a good practice to follow.keeps every one sharp.
Sounds like you may have rubbed the boys the wrong way. 🎶🎶🎵🎶🎼🎼......or they were not very pleasant people ?. I you sure you didnt accidentally snip the wire on the outdoor speaker😏😉😉.lol Fairwinds from the @captains.chair
Ha ha. I couldn’t get up there to snip it but I may have telekinesis and broke the wires with my mind. Haha. As for guys. Not sure why they didn’t cooperate with my filming? I wouldn’t do another passage unless I knew all crew were onboard with the filming.
Well Craig ....alot of us really enjoy these "adventure" and appreciate the work it takes to film . Many of us use this information and planning, that is documented to assist us in our own in devours. Thanks . FYI if my new boat was 1.4 mill the only alcohol that would be open on that Passage would be rubbing alcohol.... for any bumps and scraps from bouncing around . Im sure the drinks were sparse on the voyage with Paul and Sheryl As a police officer I am sure you have seen your fair share of misfortunes. Cheers and fairwinds from the @captains.chair
Yes. I wasn’t expecting all the drinking. Paul and Sheryl had a 1 drink with dinner rule. That’s fair in my book. I don’t drink much, but I think there would have been a mutiny had you told this crew you get 1 drink a day. It’s not my boat, so I couldn’t make the rules. Thanks for the kind words.
Craig, you sir have the patience of a saint! Had that been me, the minute I learned of their collective adolescent behavior, I wouldn’t have aborted the mission. Considering what you went through w/HQ getting a leave of absence approved, time away from your woman, economic cost et. al, it is most certainly perplexing their behavior. In lieu of appreciating your goodwill , the owner chose to behave ungrateful & unprofessional. He should have concentrated on promoting his product instead of sabotaging your filming. He wasted a great opportunity to project to the RUclips world he runs a professional organization. Safe sailing brother and keep up the great work.
2:18 don't that purddy sailboat have underwater lighting you could turn on for the dolphins??? or that taboo cuz it would blind everyones night sight??? ;)
Sorry to hear about copyright protected music!! There is another RUclips that I watch, "Sailing Avalon", they always have the best music!! Not sure how they do it!
If they are using Music you hear on the radio then they are posting video and not expecting any Adsence. Some people dont need or want the money. They just want the music they like to hear on their videos.
@@Bowmans-Woods I've never heard the music before that they use!! Most of it is really good and I would very much like to listen to!! I reached out to them and haven't heard back yet!! If you get the chance it's Finding Avalon!! ruclips.net/channel/UCUAAFXyWbMKKmKd12c7Gr7g
It's not that I don't like boat speakers, but the 24 hour frat party!!! Been there, hated that...but I think at least your fellas had a few more miles on them to calm things down a bit. When I take my "boat to go" kit, people always laugh at me for packing so much foul weather gear....then they freeze while I am nice and toasty. This is true lots of times even in supposedly warm weather areas. You can get significant icing throughout the summer in the Atlantic. Always pack some way to get warm on sailing adventures.
Ya. It was way colder than most of us expected. And yes, a bit more drinking than I expected. I clearly was the sober videographer guy and that probably didn’t endear me to them.
Although I'm a musician of profession, I never play music while sailing. I feel that the whole point of sailing and feeling the sea and the nature is lost if you play music. I want to feel and hear the nature around me and also my boat. Every little sound that comes from my boat, the engine the sails I want to hear it, also for safety reasons.
I guess having a good time listening to some tunes and having a couple beers cause you bought a 1.5million US boat is bad behavior nowadays. I'd love to be on this boat with these guys!
I see both sides. I often listen to podcasts or audio books while sailing so that I can learn stuff while enjoying the outdoors. I am not a huge music buff. But the owner was. That was cool too. It just made it hard to film the natural sounds. That was my only concern.
Flagged due to copyrighted music? Yep, I had 3 flags on 1 video and they don't shut your channel down, they delete that video. You have to wait 30 days to repost the video with new music.
I have heard it depends how seriously the copyright owner takes it. If they just want all your monitization then they get it and the video stays up. That is not considered a strike but you make nothing from the views. If you have 3 full strikes from 3 different videos then they can freeze or take down your channel. I don’t want to test the system.
Ya, You probably shouldn't leave the house. Or is it just some good ol racism cause there in AFRICAN waters? Somalia's on the other side of the continent.
That's a real shame that there was such a "difference in expectations" about the voyage. I'm with you though. There's a time to party and then there's a time to be an adult. Oh well, live and learn. 😎
I didn't have an issue with drinking when off watch. Just keep it moderate. That is all I could hope. Each of us are grown adults. Not my place to say how much is enough.
You're out on the ocean, in the middle of ocean, with a flat clear horizon, no obstacles, nothing you could hit even if you wanted to, 3 kinds of radar and satellite warning and navigation systems, and "the road" is a thousand miles wide. Yah, as long as the person on watch has themself together enough and not gonna pass out to where you could actually sail into another ship in the next hour, which is about a million to one against anyway, it really doesn't matter if anyone else is even vaguely sober. Or sane. Or looking. So the question becomes, "How do you want to live your life, when there's no reason to have any particular rules?" It's an ink-blot-test of your true character. What do you see in the waves, when there's no one left to look back at you?
I have never sailed across an ocean so I am speaking out of ignorance but I would have thought that heavy drinking and blue water sailing is not a good idea, no matter what the weather there is always a chance that something can go wrong, breakage, whale hit, container hit, man overboard you name it and being hindered in any way is not a good idea. Imagine if you lost someone and it became known that most crew on board were in party mode day after day. Just my thoughts.
@@2fast2nickHi Nick, here in Australia if you have a blood alcohol level above 0.05 you loose you license to drive and you get a hefty fine, more than two beers in a hour and you are over the limit and only one an hour after that, the same laws apply to being in control of a boat. I just have the opinion that blue water sailing while stunningly beautiful is not something to be taken lightly, certainly any commercial craft and you must have zero alcohol while in control of a vessel.
Yes, I agree a beer and music enjoying yourself on your trip while not on watch an absolutely flat water 3 knot wind day. What are they thinking? I'm with you their boat should be impounded and straight to jail and all licenses revoked. Is their anyone we can call or is to late with these episodes being produced? Wait we have a Canadian Police on board. Maybe he can use strong words to tell adults not to enjoy themselves on the 1.5 million dollar boat they just bought and are enjoying while listening to music and enjoying a legal beverage!
Ha Ha. You hit the nail on the head Slinger. I am a passenger. They are grown adults. If they want to drink while off watch and not actively sailing, Who am I to say differently. To each their own. I didn't drink much but I never drink much at any time. 1 or 2 rum drinks (mainly) at anchor is about my limit. :-)
Thanks for working so hard to catch that minute and a half of ambient noise. 👍🏾
You are very welcome. Had to pick my spots as it was rarely quiet. 😏

i guess it is kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch newly released tv shows online?

Real ambient sounds 👏👏👏👌💖
Glad you like that.
Enjoying Craig. Drag a "lewer" ???? Do you mean lure?? LOL
Ya. Clearly I’m not much of a fisherman. And certainly don’t write about it much. Ha ha
Great clear natural music, seldom heard on boating video's.
The speakers did work well, that’s for sure.
I allways thumbs up been subscribed for a long time I would love to sail an x5 across the atlantic as I have loads of time on my hands
The speaker stopped working?
Did some anonymous miscreant stuff it with cloth or foam rubber?

Why doesn't the little propeller on top of the blade mounted on the starboard sugar scoop ever turn?
Is it not wind activated? What does it do?
hahahahah..now now did u pull the fuse stunts .. hahaah .. awesome..
You might think I was motivated to do that, wouldn't you? ha ha. But no, I had nothing to do with it. Perhaps the I have psychic powers. :-)

Water - - Beer 🍻
Choices, choices. What should I drink with my morning toast. Bread and water it is then. ha ha
I would disable the deck speaker too. Most important factor for a long passage is the Human factors.

The beer and constant music cracks me up. I sense and understand the frustration. A beautiful sunset and they are all huddled together🙄😂😜
Thanks Kevin for empathizing. 😏
Were you motor sailing with one engine or two?
Always 1. Cats sip fuel if you only use 1 at a time. 2 doubles the fuel consumption but barely makes the boat go faster.
Who wire's a boat for sound not in Zones?
Smaller boats may just have one set of speakers outdoors. So they are either on or off.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Tom
how much fuel do you carry?
I believe it holds 800 liters? But don’t quote me on that.
The constant music would drive me mad.
I agree. Music is a personal choice and hearing it all day, was clearly not my choice. But, not my boat. 😏
