This player had everything - technique, speed, strength, balance, vision, two great feet, a good finish. How fortunate we were that he came to play in England, even if at the end of his career.
Watched him play sweeper, centre-half, anchor midfield, centre-mid, winger, attacking mid, and forward, and be the best in each position on his team (and often in the game). Sometimes he would play all those positions in one match. Throw in the fact he could cross, pass, dribble, and control the ball about as well with both feet as a lot of players could with their best one and you had a unique player of phenomenal potential.
What is funny is that he said in an interview that his technique wasn't that great and his asset was mostly speed. He could dribble amazingly but here he also takes some incredibly difficult volley shots etc.
Bro you really missed Gullit on the field. I was lucky to see him playing for Milan AC and Hollanda. He played with his heart. You should hear when Albertini, Maldini talked about him
Absolutely correct..I'v been watching football a long time(and i'm a "football fan"not just a fan of one specific Team-Tottenham is mine)In the 90's when I lived in London, they used to show a live game from the Serie A on C4 tv on Sunday, and it was a must for me to watch(or record if I was working)And u had easily the best football, players, tactics in the world at that time. Such a passionate player. You can see the pure joy in his face when he scored! My girlfriend lived in the Netherlands as a child and remembers encountering Ruud Gullit in a restaurant there once. Because their tables were joined (presumably diner style), she said that every time he laughed, it was so hearty that the vibrations would bounce her up and down! Im very jealous that she inadvertantly met the great man, to say the least!

This guy is everything, can play at the back, midfield, forward, have strength, speed, technique, have good both left and right foot, can score from long range, freekick, header, have good pass and also, he have an eccentric hairstyle
I do not know why Gullit was so underrated. He was a complete footballer (you will find it difficult to find these days) and scored some incredible goals at both club and country. There are many other players who are more acclaimed than Gullit and this video shows it is not fair.
Normally deployed as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker, he was capable of playing anywhere in midfield or along the front-line, on either wing or even in the center, and could also play as a sweeper.[6] Regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation
There aren’t many players throughout history who you could label as being ‘unique’, but Gullit definitely falls into that category. What an animal. He started his career in midfield but spent most of his prime at striker when his teams realised he was just so unstoppable. Surely the most dominant player ever. You can always see who the best players were at specific moments throughout football history when you see trends for club and national teams, e.g Barcelona and Spain late 00s/early 10s with Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol etc - Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard dominated with Milan and also won in 88 with Holland. Incredible legacy.

Wow! Thank you very much! I'm glad you appreciate this aspect, because music in a football video for me it's not just a detail or a simple background, indeed, is much more.
What is so special about Gullit is how devastating he was in his finishing with both of his feet and his head! I have never seen anybody so powerful on the ball - once you gave him even a nanosecond on the ball to release a shot, you could be sure that he would score! The immense power with which he stroke the ball left the goalkeepers paralysed - they simply didn't have the time to react and block his shots! His height and his long legs made his shots so devastating! Another thing worth to mention was his infectious, childlike celebration - I must say that the best goal scorers in the history of football (Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo Nazario da Lima, Romario, etc.) have all been like Gullit in this sense. I truly believe that this immense, uncontrollable joy inspired him to score even more goals - he lived for that feeling - you can absolutely tell that!
Rudd Gullit, Frank Rijkard and Marco Van Basten esp. Rijkard's rifle (the miss pass trick). These players created a great sub-culture in our hot north Indian playgrounds. Please excuse my spellings for the Dutch names.

I guess today's kids don't understand. When Gulit made his professional debut with a club called Haarlem in the Dutch league, his position was center back. He moved to PSV, where he played libero and scored as many goals as a forward. It was only after he moved to Milan that he was converted from Sacchi to right wing. Speaking of current players, Van Dijk is also from the Netherlands, but he cannot imitate Guritt. ️
What a total beast this man was. Perhaps THE best player in the gold era of football. His aerial game was top, he scored so many impossible goals....I wonder how it would be if he played in this era. Must be one of the top 20 footballers in history
Gullit was the most fearless player I have ever seen. The defender could do the worst foul on him and yet he would have stand up like nothing happened leaving the defender completed astonished and disoriented. Without the bad injury he would have been easily considered at least a top 5 in the history of the game. But this is also true for other 3-4 players.
