1706 , 1702 and 1709 were my favorites. Have a lot of flight time on those three and others. Those three were with me at various times in Clearwater, then Barbers and again in Sacto.
@@BillSilverEagle I have flown on the 1502 in Clearwater. I think all of those were in service when I was, I know for sure the 1502 and the double nuts. I primarily flew on the 17xx's, J's were entering service @7 years before I retired. Some would arrive to a base I was at and I could go for a fun flight with them,.....nah. H model Best model.
1707 was my favorite, he was the last one that was so restricted from the crack inspection. He was such a good boy, never a single time did he not fly when scheduled.
I have 25 years flying USCG C-130 B models. Have been all over the world in them. Been to almost every LORAN station in the world. Once we had a LORAN flight to a CIA Base in the Golden Triangle of Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. The USAF ground support people were certain we had to be CIA because what could a Coast Guard C-130 possibly be doing in the Golden Triangle with all our LORAN monitoring antennas. This acft is from CGAS Sacramento (SACRAMENTO is shown below the number 1702). CGAS Sacramento is located on the former McClellan Air Force Base, which existed as a military base from 1939 to 2000. I was a member of the 12 man crew that established the Coast Guard at McClellan AFB in 1977 when we were forced to move our C-130's and HU16E acft from SFO (SF Intl Airport) to Sacramento. They are departing from LAX. In my days we would use Burbank airport and park on the Lockheed portion of Burbank airport. Retired USCG CWO.
1702, what a beautiful girl you are! I know you've been retired but in my mind you are flying still, looking for those lost souls you can rescue. i know you weren't done flying, I kept you airborne as long as I could. Bless all your fellow planes to a well-deserved rest.
Americans everywhere often forget the Coast Guard but without them rescues at sea, on the great lakes or all throughout the world wouldn't be possible!
My boyfriend was military and commerical airplane pilot. He's flew the many airplanes. Lockheed C-130 Hercules as well. He said nice airplane. I like Hercules too.
Sorry to be off topic but does anyone know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Skylar Marcus I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I've seen a C-130 Very similar to the USCG C-130, It's called the LC-130. The differences are: The tail paint is different, It uses Rockets powered takeoff. ONLY in snow covered areas. The tail has an AM🇺🇸RICAN Flag instead of the former Symbol. It has skis on the wheels for snow taxiing,
Fire drops - Search and Rescue and can still fly on one engine - used by NASA for remote sensing - sensing fire activity down in South American for infrared sensing fire activity due to cultivation of fields because they use burning as a way to cultivate their crops which adds to the environmental pollution - C-130 Sophie NASA Remote Sensing Aircraft used for major fires and fire management activity to determine the intensity and direction of wild land fires
Just in case anyone is wondering, the CG is a smaller branch that doesn't have the same resources to maintain a lot of their own bases. In this case, LAX works for them as a base of operations.
search and rescues, illegal country passing. It's mainly a sit and wait plane while the fighters bombers etc do the dirty work. I would think so at least
Absolutely. Each aircraft is optimized for different missions. And there is no other large aircraft in the world like a 130 for unimproved short field operations under adverse conditions. Notice that all C-130 replacements are upgraded 130s. I certainly miss those hours flying around Thailand in them during the Nam war.
For logistics flight, no doubt. We use C130s for logistics, search and rescue, Law enforcement, migrant patrol, air drops of rescue gear/rafts out the ramp & door, humanitarian aide into fields that can't take the weight of a C17 even though it can land there. We fly lots of searches at 2000 and below at a slow speed because we are trying to see things in the water. Not to mention cost per flight hour. I like the C17, but they do not do everything a C130 can do.
How can 23 people give this a thumbs down?.....The aircraft and colour scheme is just sublime.!!!
No worry, thanks to RUclips you can't see thr dislike count anymore 😑
Wow,what a colour scheme..superb.!!!!

Awesome! ... we still fly C-130H with our RNZAF.. Thanks from NZ ✈️🇳🇿
Acquired plenty of flight time on this aircraft in my 20 year career as a USCG FE. Miss my flying days.
There was one of these flying low over my house today, made about 5 laps at various altitudes. Pretty cool.

gave me chills everytime I hear them flying low over my house
Great looking plane and livery.

Very good video. Beautiful the C-130 Hercules. Saludos
My dad was a young Second class Loadmaster when air station Clearwater first accepted this aircraft from Locheed back in the early 80's

1702 is still going strong in Kodiak, but will be replaced with new C130J models in 2019.

They can drop supplies, emergency pumps, food, water. They can also send personnel to areas that need help.
John July We've also carried helicopters in them.
They can also blow the shit out of ground targets in the Air Force's gunship configuration

Darn things look like a smiling polar bear. Having flown in one a few times, they are one gentle giant.

My dads in the coast guard :) He's the flight mechanic on a Sikorsky Jayhawk helicopter

Is this air port near the plane museum? I remember seeing coast guard planes like this flying over it. If this is in Sacramento I saw this

Awesome! Those things come over my house a lot because I live next to an airfield. Not in coast guard livery though!
Cool this plane. I didn't know the USA used it.
where was this filmed at?

Hi, i would use a part of the soundtrack as playpack for one of my rc plane videos and would kindly ask for your allowance.

Judging by all the Allegiant planes in thebackground, the location has to be Clearwater.
No...its a USCG C-130 out of Sacramento departing Los Angeles International Airport.
Looks great! BTW- why did he takeoff at a public airport and not at a Coast Guard base?

Spent many a day on the long wire for engine startups.
Just like a turprop flight simulator
This HC130 of the USCG should be used to deploy its rescue swimmers for rescues far out in the ocean rather than relying on USAF Pararescue.

Engines run up to max takeoff power of 19,600 in.lbs torque before letting off brakes!
What would they use these for?????

OceanBlue USCG doesn't have USAF money and if they did what would they do with them? Drops at 300 knots?
