The trampoline illustration, and complaint reminded me of our first house we built in 1984 in the country miles from the highway. It was very modest, only two bedrooms and one bathroom but it was ours, and being quite young we were proud of it. My Dad helped us out. He built a nice clothes line, put up a dandy TV antenna for us on the gable end of the house, and built a small deck on the back of the house. We didn't have a garage, the car and truck were in the driveway. My closest childhood friends mother lived down the road a piece from us so we got to see the family regularly. Things were going great. Then the property next to us was bought by a retired couple from Chicago, we didn't mind and tried to get acquainted, and be friendly as their home was being built. That didn't work out. The first complaint was the clothes line. It was uncivilized for them to see our laundry drying outside. We should buy a clothes dryer. I let it go. The next thing was we needed to paint our house the brown didn't look good next to their white house. Our propane tank was unsightly, we should get rid of it. The cars parked in the driveway looked bad to them. They put in a circle drive and a gazebo in the center and black topped the drive. We're miles down a red clay road in Arkansas. I finally decided to get a few hundred feet of clothes line and string it tree to tree along the property line. At the time I worked at a nursing home, I asked for all the ratty old bedspreads and blankets, hung them all the way down the clothes line tree to tree, and left them hanging until they disintegrated and fell off. That shut them up, and they left us alone.

why in the world would you move to an HOA area??? knowing you all I can't imagine it. too many rules and regulations. I wouldn't live in one of those things even if i could afford it :)

HOA’s are good in a poorer neighborhood but not in a wealthy one , my daughter lives in a rough part of town because Southern California is pricey , so she bought into an HOA which was good because around her are “rough” looking neighborhoods

Mr. Phil. " We have a,world full of pussycats. ". I almost fell of the treadmill!!! This is so true. Also true that people need to take care of their own business and their home. I'm so glad we are the last house at the end of a dirt road. Also glad our rural.school chose to start back mid August. Never move into a,POA, or HOA! Ever. People are too.crazy. We have some recreation property my husband bought 40 yrs ago. The developers have changed umpteen times over the years. The developers do whatever they want being majority property owners. I amabout ready to give this lot away.
We started homeschooling two years ago...we took away most screens...we inserted daily bible study and 11.5 acres with a river. These kids have done a 180 and I personally praise the Lord for the blessing to have a rural simple happy childhood..honey..blueberries..and crawdads and Jesus.
The first mistake is joining an HOA. I will never be in an HOA!
Problem is, lots of towns are requiring HOA membership to buy houses. Supposedly HOA's are to take care of common property which relieves the town of the responsibility. But any time you have a group of people bound together, you get fraud & aggravation.

First mistake was moving to the democrat controlled city of Austin
Curtis Roberts FYI, when you sign the papers to purchase the property, you are automatically a HOA member and are required to pay the HOA fee and if you don’t and sell the property the sale will not happen until the HOA fees Are caught up to date. The first question you should ask when looking, is do you have a HOA, if answer is yes ,RUN.

People are just going crazy! I'm from Bastrop, La. My son & daughter talked me into moving to Sterlington, La last yr. A woman just got murdered Saturday nt & her body mutilated in Bastrop. They threw her body, Rt into a few trees close to a hs, of a family with young children. What are evil people doing to our country???

When you choose to live in Austin Tx, the land of yuppies who pay literally $1 - $2 million for a 1,200sq,ft home... you're going to have trouble with neighbors and HOA, BS.

Our next door neighbors have a trampoline for their kids and it is wonderful. The parks and beaches are off limits and the trampoline gives them an energy outlet when they have to be inside and do schooling all day. It is sad that Jep’s children now can’t us this to exercise . Sad. Sad.
I love to hear the Bible discussion but I also like to hear about the family and community . The first thought I had about Jep's trampoline was to ask if uncle Si was jumping on it in a bathing suit if he is that might cause a problem with the neighbors eyes lol 😀
Phil has the right idea. Live in a place where you only have to deal with people when you feel like loving them.

The is why I will never live in a neighborhood that has HOA!
The scary truth about trampolines is the brain damage that they can cause. I watched my good friend's son who at the time was 14, and he was jumping on the trampoline like any other kid with his sister. All the sudden the kid was laying on the trampoline convulsing, and we called 911 because he stopped convulsing, but had vomited and would not wake up. The ambulance came, and put an iv in, and took him to the ER. They did an mri, and he had a small brain bleed, which they went in and repaired it, but the neurosurgeon told us that trampolines are one of the most dangerous playground item's to be hurt on. The biggest problem isn't even the kid's that break their knecks, and bones from falling and hitting the edge of the trampoline, or the ground. The surgeon said the number one danger is brain damage from the brain traveling faster up or down as the child jumps, and the brain smacks the inside of the skull causing concussions, and in my friend's case, her son had an aneurysm rupturing a blood vessel that they repaired. Luckily the boy ended up with no permanent problems, but he was lucky to be 10 minutes from a trauma center that had surgeon's able to go in and fix the bleed, and relieve the pressure of the fluid. After I saw that, I warn parent's how dangerous they are, and to at least watch for signs of a concussion, because it's a scary thing to see. HOA are a waste of money, and nit picking over something as absurd as a trampoline is nuts. You all should get together and ban the HOA, tell them you own the land, and to tell them to stop spying on you like the movie 1984. God bless everyone, and stay safe.

I have never called the police on my neighbors, and wouldn't unless it was life threatening, BUT, I may can see what the complaint 'could' be. My neighbor's daughter and husband are living there now and are quieter and more respectful, but when her parents lived there they were a NIGHTMARE to live beside. Too many stories to tell. One is, they have a HUGE above ground pool in their backyard and the entire family and friends would go back there alllllll the time and swim. Swimming wasn't the problem. The problem was they had to CRANK the music UP to rap junk BLARING and had to SCREAM alllllll day and night. They disregarded any "love your neighbor" to be respectful. The entire neighborhood had to deal with it. They didn't have a trampoline, but I would guess when kids are on it, they would be screaming while playing, as all kids do, besides, (possibly) jumping up and seeing in their neighbors backyard and invading their privacy. ??? Who knows. Just a guess.

I'm down in Alexandria, happy on my land. A good friend of mine lives in Austin. We enjoy visiting, eating, the music, and the weirdness. But, Austin's politics is waaaaay too far to the left for me to live there!! Good luck Jep, with your HOA.

Jep's HOA issue is probably is the noise of children having fun and yelling and squealing in joy. The Neighbor would prefer SILENCE.
I live in an HOA neighborhood and will admit it’s we’re all the lunatics live. One of the neighbors every morning when the kids walk the the bus stop he moves his car down his drive way on the side walk. When people walk by with dogs he get on his bicycle and follows them and he loves staring at the neighbors or when people walk on the sidewalk by his house like walk out of his garage and just stare until you stare at him or you walk out of his view.
Phil,Jase and Jep are very understanding about the Bible and the lord Jesus Christ. God Bless this men.
If someone yelled at me to wear a mask ON MY PROPERTY I would shout back "Hey can I come to your place and make sure YOU are wearing a mask and keeping 20 feet apart?" There is sometimes a humorous solution to dealing with hypocrities 😁😁😁😁😁😁

I soooo agree people have gone crazy! And you wanna say, really?! I mean I get the concept, but people have taken it wayyyyy to far! I am renting a house ( prob have to move soon, that's another story.. lost job, my car...) but i received a letter saying I had to take my son's basketball hoop amd put it in front of the garage, horizontal!!! Oh ok, so he is gonna go into the neighbors yard to play?! But, when walking my dog, let me count how many bball hoops I see outside at the end of their driveways, where I had mine??? Did I call up and say hey what about the other 10 people that have them...no i didn't..And yes mind ur own business, quit being in others..i mind mine! It's like they have nothing better to do than to cause discord... yes we need prayer, lots of it!!

If you arent there, then you cant judge Jep's neighbor as evil. Dont get me wrong, many HOA carry their 'authority' too far. However, i live in a cul-de-sac and my neighbors dont try to stop their children from screaming continuously when they are playing because they are outside. As a parent, to hear children scream bloodcurdling screams from the time they go out to the time they go in is beyond disruptive. It is nerve wracking and causes my dog to chew on herself and more. There has to be common sense involved also ! Everything in a cul-de-sac is amplified in surround sound. I can hear people across the street spit.
I think Phil should run for President and Jase for VP!!

Phill your comment about loving your neighbor, and " if it's possible " reminds me of Matthew 10:14-16, "and if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that town. Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town " in other words you made the attempt to be nice, you made the attempt to get along, you made an honest attempt to honor God by loving your neighbor, not just once but many times but they just won't respond than Jesus gives you a way out, just shake them off like dust on your feet the Lord is satisfied you did your part. And remember the Lord has already preselected those that will be saved, not everyone will be no matter how hard we try to bring the Gospel to them, so if they won't listen then dust them off and move on because some will be so offended that the more we preach the more their hearts will be hardened and the time we wast passed them being hardened we could have lead many more down the path of righteousness.
