I agree. Dumb transmission. It’s ok Saab, Toyota muffed things up with the LFA’s tranny too. That was a MUUUUCH bigger mistake! It’s like buying a drooling Rottweiler that is scared of squirrels.
9 seconds for 0-60 is very slow for 210hp, especially being that turbo engines usually have much flatter torque curves. I have a 2018 VW Tiguan Limited with a 200hp, 207 lb-ft of torque 2L turbo 4 cylinder (and added weight of AWD). That will do 0-60 in just under 8 seconds. The automatic transmission is likely partly to blame, as well as weight penalty due to being a convertible. But I am also be inclined to think that the hp and torque figures are overrated for the SAAB engine as well.
The auto has limited boost in 1st and 2nd gear that why the 0-60 is so slow. I have one with a stage 2 tune and on a highway it walks on most v8s that are N/A. Honestly might be one of the best "tiptronic" style autos full boost shifts are nice.
If you want to race, get a race car. This is a cruiser with plenty of power for overtaking and accelerating. 1s over 0-60 is barely noticeably in the grand scheme of things on a highway

Very fast for when it was released. Keep in mind they are 20 years old. You might have forgotten that. Compare this to a 20 year old civic and the civic is left as a passenger at the red light
@@usertom1967 For perspective my old '95 Accord 2.2 sohc auto ran 9.1 and 17.2 in the 1/4. The power was adequate, but just barely in 1997 when I bought it. Anything but fast. The Saab should have had the same tune as the Cobalt SS (260 bhp) since they had the same GM sourced Ecotec 2.0 turbo. Even the older Saab Viggen 9-3 with a Saab sourced engine had 230 bhp. I feel GM ruined Saab with parts bin engineering and bean counting, but that is a discussion for another day....
I liked these convertibles. Sharp looking
Thank you for uploading these old MW Saab reviews. Very much appreciated!
210 hp makes me think those zero to sixty and quarter miles should be much faster
Must be a heavy car
I think the auto gearbox hinders the time. I think the manual version is supposed to be 7.7 secs

yeah I have 9-3 aero manual it goes 7.5 seconds to zero to sixty
Saab❤️❤️
Very nice this Saab

Impressively slow!

@@tmmurphycouldn't agree more. I was just replying to the original post which called the Saab slow 😂
