      Former #1 and when he got older and injured he still stuck around the rankings by trucking a lot of the top players.

      He was so good that he still managed to hang around after double knee surgery and achilles rupture recovery. Nobody every plays the same after those kinds of injuries but he still managed and I would say his technique is elegant and looks naturally deceptive.

    Thanks for sharing your learning process Talia! Voice over is fine, and we hope you incorporate PG teachings into your game over time as well. Looks like the ball is in our court too so lots of front court homework! ;-)

    The Voice over was just fine.. And I mean if you're gonna learn from someone Gade is a pretty damn good tutor. Its amazing how much you can get out of a few tips.. The amount of difference in swing from just his quick tips is massive.. it's the difference between your opponent reading your shot before you've made it, and leaving them stranded and trying to catch up. I never really payed attention to how much the pro's use so little forearm movement.. Its easy to read someone's shot from the swing of their arm.. its harder to read it from their wrist.. but it's impossible to read it from their fingers.
    Great lesson.

    • @evokaiyo
      @evokaiyo Год назад +3

      This is because swinging telegraphs your movement. What Peter is teaching here, is to use minimal movements, to help hide the shot you are playing. However the opposite also true. By using larger movements, you can deceive your opponent into misreading your shot too. The key is not to just use just one technique - timing is also very important. By always changing your strokes and pace, this gives your opponent a hard time to anticipate, resulting in them relying on their reactions more

    Different coaches often teach different things. My coaches always say to swing my racket more and I also seen some coaches on RUclips say the same thing. I'm going to try Peter Gade's way and see if I can learn his style of deception

    This voice over format if perfect for instructional sections, specially with pro advices. Thanks for the clip.
    I struggles with the same bigswing technique problems and i've noticed it's mainly an issue with mindset when hitting . One thing not mentioned by Gade here is some nessesity to build finger fitness because it is quite taxing on a small part of the body (if you want to hit those clears).
    I like your hitting style but I can see why it has some limitation with deceptions.
    Here is another pro instructor (Kenishi Tago) showing the net shots, Kento Momota use this style of hitting : ruclips.net/video/SbyDx97F_sk/видео.html

    Hi Talia, I want to know why you are not playing in the world championships. There are players both higher and lower ranked than you. There are 64 players in the Mens singles draw and only 48 ( 47 now that PV Sindhu has withdrawn ) in the Womens draw. There are a lot of ranking points to be gained if you can win any rounds and you said you want the experience of playing against top players.
