I can remember my 1st MGB. AM radio and a heater, same with the 2nd MGB, AM radio and a heater. Honestly, when driving those cars I never listened to the radio. The only time the radio was ever used was when my girlfriend got in the car. When driving this new 2023 MX-5, the only time I listen to the radio is when I'm parked in the school bus parking lot. Yes, I drive one of those school buses, but the good thing is, being retired, that salary pays my house and car payments and I'm off all summer. The Sirius XM stays off while I'm driving to this very day. I don't even use the part that shows me where I'm going. At 78 I can forget what they call it. I'm in an MX-5 for the drive only these days.
Everyone loves the shift. And it is amazingly built! But I often tend to not bother with the clutch when shifting, (I'm an old timer). I find the shifter so tight I can't feel the opening that occurs when rpms are matched. I have shifted without the clutch a few times, but it's not easy. But it is built very well!
"Cupholder issue" - Totally agree about the open slot. First thing I told my wife and kid when they got in, "Don't you dare put or drop anything in there!" I love my wife and kid... but hey. :D Otherwise, even as cheesy as they are, I feel privileged that they came up with something in such a limited space. Of course, you have to praise a car that has such trivial complaints. :)
trunk opening is small as part of the structure righty design. I am on my 4th Miatas [NA-ND] and IMHO, NB2 is the best looker especially with a RHT. PRHT is the best roof design and perfect setup for a Miata. with that note, I like to see NB exterior, NB2 interior, NC PRHT, and ND2 powertrain as the "last" ICE engine Miata. If NG has these design and features, I will be a happy camper.
1: A less rattle prone interior, one of many examples is both of my sun visors rattle like they have a bolt loose inside. 2: Better cupholders and in comfortable reach storage options to place phone, keys, and sunglasses (reaching into the lockable cubby in between the seats is kinda inconvenient and dangerous while driving) 3, this one is mainly personal: Improved audio. In reference to the Bose set up. The door speakers lack mid range power. The tweeters make higher frequencies sound pretty harsh instead of clean sibilance. Sub sounds good in low to middle volumes but is overshadowed easily by the other speakers when turned up. BONUS: The flip down wind blocker from the NC. On ND if I want some more air I have to pull the whole thing off and throw it in the trunk or behind the seat. Not doable while on the road.
Dude.....awesome content! Last month I just bought the EXACT same miata...2021 RF Club in polymetal gray. I've since installed an auto dimming rearview mirror and hardwired front and rear dash cam. Me for NE? Relocate that charger socket, maybe where the heated seats control is; make that cup holder at least an inch deeper; on the console where there is that little space for maybe a cell phone, make it flat and not angled; lumbar support would be nice. It still could use a little more power, at least 10-15% would be heaven!
Here is my list. 1. Go back to the NC Retractable roof design. Remove the targa fins. 2. The screen should not stick up above the dashboard. Period. 3. Give me a glove box. 4. Get rid of the bump in the floor on the passenger side. 5. Put the slim cup holders back in the door like on the NC. 6. And maybe the next version is a hybrid? Or still gas? Just not all electric. I’m thinking my current Miata is my forever car so might not move the goal post for me even if they did all these things. But I can dream. Love my Miata.
I have an NA purchased new in 1990, now in its 31st year of reliable service. You can actually fit a set of golf clubs in the trunk, even though there is a space saver and a battery already in the trunk as well. It measures basically the same externally as the ND, but the trunk opening is larger and the full width of the trunk between the sheet metal is available.
I would say that the infotainment DOES need an up grade, but keep the knob. I love that thing. My car before the Miata was a Mazda3 hatchback (2018) and I love not having to reach for and looking at the screen. The interface is very intuitive, once you play with it for a little while. Having said that, despite the fact that my mx5 is 3 years newer, the infotainment center's lag is HORRENDOUS. Adding apple car play and android auto has bogged it down so badly. It is time to up grade the hardware, to be able to handle the extra data! Are you listening, MAZDA? Thanks for the videos! Super fun. I am so glad I found your channel.
I had a 2017 3 hatchback. The air conditioner in that kept blowing randomly even when switched off. The rear view cam also would glitch sometimes. Other than that, I loved that hatch!
A couple of little things 1. Placement of cig lighter socket 2. Add ability to activate auto hi beams without moving stock to hi beam on 3. Keep power to accessories until driver opens door 4. Better sun visors 5. Better infotainment with USB C 6. Better left info display... maybe some heads up info... why take eyes off the road to check time... why doesn't the car remember the last heading when stopped... time of engine on for each trip... etc

Great 5th. As a former Mustang owner I was horrified when I saw the new Mustang E was being called a Mustang. It's not. It doesn't even share anything with the petrol Mustang. All car manufacturers should leave an petrol badge behind when they move to electric. Oh, yea now I'm a Miata owner.

Widen both the trunk opening and the trunk so a bag of golf clubs will fit🏌🏼 It's hard to pick up Chicks with golf clubs as my passenger😩 BTW I own a 2020 RF. With all the technology in this car, why can't they fix the windows to close completely after you raise the top?
I think cuz the budget went into the coolant temp gauge that shows you a higher temp range when all you need to know is that you’re overheating. Mazda prioritized some weird stuff on our car.
For the window not closing all the way, Mazda found it to be a safety issue. Upon closing the roof, people with longer hair would get their hair trapped in between so Mazda deliberately designed it that way.
