This is a 97 or 98 model that's probably been jetted with full exhaust, it's definitely not stock! I've owned 2 of them over the years and in my opinion one of the finest motorcycles ever built, great video!
I know there was an issue with certain model years of the VFR 800 Interceptor bikes, is there a good model year range to stay within for these bikes? I just got a trade offer for a 2001. It seems to be in good shape, but has 85k km on it, I am a little worried about that but have heard good things. Anything to worry about?
I have a 97 models and does the same speed but faster. This one looks slow compared with mine dude... "full exhaust and jetted lol" mine is stock, im 73kg and accelerates faster.
Love ‘tis reminders me of my brother. He loved his bike and I never forget the moment that he was riding beside me at 200 kmp and than just hit the gas bizar great bike great memory 🙏🏻
im 19 and my dad has one of these a 2000 model its the fastest of them made most hp it does 300 std. i have only been up to 280 after a week i had driven on it, its a really fast machine pulls from the bottom of gears all the way up. if i give it some power when i sit up when it gets to 7000 rpm where it explodes i would fall off because i only weigh 65 kg i have to lay down over the tank if i want to use the power but its a fast and awesome machine, just have to respect it and you wont get hurt. :) he lets me drive on it some times he dont know i been on 280 :)
I'm 60 years old and a new black bird owner, a '97. This bike is almost unknown here in the totally fucked-up un-united full of thugs states. I was driving a old Honda and doing research I found that they existed. I found one online and bought it sight unseen never having rode one. It's totally awesome in every way. I'm greatly amused by all the litre-bike supersport drivers...I can mount bags, top trunk, tank bag and take a passenger in comfort and still as fast as them.
MMM,,, the Blackbird is a serious piece of kit, as is the Hyabusa (similar concept) and indeed the ZX14. It has been my experience that sheer top end performance is not the be all and end all of motorcycling. OK, I don't ride one of these bikes (I can't afford one for one thing!). and I live in a country (NZ) with few motorways where such speeds are possible, even if illegal (our national open road limit is 100 km/hr... yes it's too low!), so it's all a bit academic. My old (1988) Honda will do around 240 I think, but the limitation most of the time is not the bike, the speed limit, or the rider to some extent, but the road itself. It's far more of a buzz to go over the Rimutaka range where speeds over 90km/hr are rare and difficult/dangerous than it is to blast along a straight at 200. A tight, twisty mountain road with no real room for mistakes is a far greater challenge to a rider than howling down a straight road flat out; anyone with a big engine can do that. For all intents and purposes on a public road, my 85hp CBR600 is as quick as any bike (0-100 in 3.4), and given that there's other traffic and that anything over 8/10ths is insane on a public road as it can put others at risk. If you want to go flat out, go to a track day and see how good you really are! It might surprise you to find that you are not Valentini Rossi (grin). It has been my observation that the really good riders on the track are very conservative on the roads, where most of the drivers are not that skillful or observant. Do I exceed the speed limit? Well, yes, now and again, where it'e safe to do so, but there are also times on the open road when even 100km/hr is too damned fast, and to do it is stupid. I also enjoy poddling along at 80 or so when there's no traffic, at which speed I can admire the countryside (NZ is beautiful!). Motorcycling is a bit like dancing; it requires balance in mind and body, co-ordination of a high order, focus on the task and a willingness to know, and to learn from and extend your limitations. It is a beautiful thing, but it can turn ugly in a split second if you fail to keep in mind the dire potential in riding. That potential is part of the buzz, sure, but the taking of stupid risks with your own, or worse other's, lives is inconsiderate at best and criminally negligent at worst. Bent motorcyclists are expensive to fix, and sometimes we can't be fixed properly and can no longer partake in the activity that we all love so much. So ride safe out there brothers and sisters..... Keep the rubber on the bottom!... Oh.... P.S..... I'm 72, got my licence in 1960 and still ride the bike in my logo pic (which was taken less than a year ago...) at every opportunity.... xo
Congrats on your purchase, one of my favorite things about this bike is the "sleeper affect"!! These young cats don't know what hit 'em, especially the thuggish hayabusa boys !! lol
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my account password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Zane Ari thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I know the feeling with my XX too ! :-) The horn in the middle could have been spared. What's more nice than to slow down to 100 and wait for a while and whizz away again!
even if allowed, you better do get on a track before its too late, in Germany they have enough of those. doing this speed in public traffic is asking for your "final" number and proves best that you are not yet aware of your lifes value. CBR1100XX driver for 17 years, more than 1mio km on all sorts of bikes and going. Good luck, you'll need it
K prop Good statement! Also notable that German Autobahns have lower casualty numbers regardless the speeds there (compared to distances in other roads).
thanks, the statistic mentioned might be correct and I can imagine some typical differences between a German Autobahn, german driver habits and other highways and such, however you do not want to be "just one" of those numbers, do you?
Schätze mal Vergaser-Modell ( ca. 160 PS ) bei 10000 U/Min. = 290km/H , bei 106000 U/Min. ( roter Bereich ) = 300km/H. Schon fast 72000 Kilometer abgerissen, Respekt !
Mhm I'm a bit sensitive. It's not because I can't do them, my injection came close, with a professional weighing over 55 kg. Some things don't convince me. The wind screen is too big. The sound is not of a motorcycle maximum rpm. With my first second third, the sound is another planet. I don't like it and I don't believe it.
Totally agree with you. Both myself and a buddy own '99 and '02 models respectively. Never noticed any flex at all......and we don't exactly ride like little old ladies. Another friend of mine owns an ZX14. He keeps trying to convince me to trade up for one. Nope. Love my "Bird. Never have any problems keeping pace with the newer bikes either.
Yeah, I sold my ZX14 to buy ANOTHER "Blackbird" (97) ! Same power band up to around 140 mph, then the ZX will pull it. The "Bird" is the most stable bike I've ever owned, nothing out there like it!
Wayne Baldwin I hear ya talking loud and clear Wayne. Love my Bird'. I just don't see myself trading it in any time soon. Not even for the ZX14 or 'Busa.
This is a 97 or 98 model that's probably been jetted with full exhaust, it's definitely not stock! I've owned 2 of them over the years and in my opinion one of the finest motorcycles ever built, great video!
Mine is 98 model (carbs) standard and also once did just over 310km/h.
Wow !! that's fast. The best I've done was 171 mph (GPS), I think the carbureted models are a little faster. Stay safe !
I had a 2001, stock, and got it up to 295Kmh :)
I know there was an issue with certain model years of the VFR 800 Interceptor bikes, is there a good model year range to stay within for these bikes? I just got a trade offer for a 2001. It is one of the best balanced bikes ever even at full speed.

Super Motorrad.
i have a 98 and 195 a couple times .....feels like ur On top of the world....love my black bird

Herrlich
I know the feeling with my XX too ! :-) The horn in the middle could have been spared. What's more nice than to slow down to 100 and wait for a while and whizz away again!
totally right Teijo ! who thinks the driver even heard that tiny weeny buzzer in his car?
lol you passed that guy going 200! haha wow. You just need a set of aftermarket aircraft wings on that ting and you have a private jet.
yeah, 4'02'', I was waiting to see if he ever caught up or he had a heart attack !
I have a 2000. Wonderful machine. The "Express Train"
She's fast!! Gets to 300easy👍
Nice video but the Camera is shaking too much
But Really cool 300kmh on the Highway
You got some serious manhood to do that!
Thanks you that is what a bike is for and it's great to be legal at those beautiful speeds

17 years? Bikes been around for 16 years?
Bugra Erkan I own a 1997 BB, still carbureted. The Black Bird came out 1996.

Velocissimo,freddo e davvero molto abile.
1 mistake from another driver and you're roadkill.
And the fuel consumption? 5 throttle twists per gallon. xD
At a constant 200 it’s around 12 km per liter ,so at 300 …who knows?!

Nigel for fook sake, why did you resurrect me? It's been 5 long years. 😅
Motorcycle year?
No... 270 km/hr (170 mph)... speedos read 10% fast on every vehicle that I have ever radar checked.......
Confirmed-....
It's strange. My video where im riding on RF900 around 260+ km\h looks the same like your 310.
Well he's only going 20% faster, 260 is still real quick.
goog top speed very good
