The voice actor hasn't changed since previous titles. It's not his fault, it's the director.
@@elitefortniteplayer177 Gideon Emory has been voicing Steve for 15 years without any noteworthy complaints before T8. I think it's safe to say it's the voice directors fault.
People definitely had complaints before T8. At least as an Englishman to me the voice has always sounded like the direction was 'pretend to be a non-English person doing a bad English accent'. It's so off and has been forever.@@drongodyle3156

The problem is Gideon Emery himself, who does not match the character of Steve Fox that they had already built since Tekken 5. If you listen to Steve Fox from Streef Fighter x Tekken, who was fully dubbed by Gideon, his voice sounds even worse and there it was just the Capcom directors who were in charge.

Google "Gideon Emery", the guy is a top class actor. The fact that the Tekken team got him is a miracle. Voice direction for his iteration in this game is terrible but he is A+ class for sure.

The voice actor is awesome, such a good voice for Steve,. The "Let's go" at the start, and the burn for Hwoarang fit Steve perfectly. But the direction is definitely flawed. Not at ALL the VA's fault in any way though, and I think that's really important to get across.

I found Steves relative dorkiness in Tekken 7 super endearing, like when he kicks with the muay thai headband. I feel like if he was more dorky in his delivery rather than 'hard' his lines would be better

For those who are criticizing his voice, It's the same VA since T6, his name is Gideon Emery, and it's not that he doesn't sound good, if you see his T6 endings and TT2 intro he actually sounds great, then you will realize that here VA is not bad but the Direction is.
He does not sound good. In T6 he didn't sound good, he still doesn't sound good in T8.

the voice actor is actually really good. he voiced Balthier in Final Fantasy 12 which was for many the best character in every way. idk what was messed up here but somethings off
11:18 Lets not forget that recoverable health is a thing in T8, this no juggle combo might not do as much damage as what a full juggle combo might've done, but it won't build much, if any recoverable health. Maybe.
Since it's a standing combo it won't build any recoverable health. I feel like it might be buffed in some way in heat too but we don't know yet

The guard break steve does reminds me of Balrog charge moves. I think it's called raging buffalo or something along those lines
Pretty much agree with everything. Gameplay looks great, dialogue with Hwoarang was surprisingly decent, but the voice lines, the choker, Steve's face and the way he expresses himself at the end is ultra corny. Not to mention whatever that awkward cartoon clash between him and Hwoarang was all about. Imagine seeing that animation in real time during any of the old Tekken games; that's right you can't. Overall if I were a Steve main, I'd feel 'meh' toward the way he was handled.

My theory is fucked up normal map around the cheek bones area. It has like a weird glimmering/transparency that is noticeable at like 45° views of his face, and when he talks, especially while he is roasting that K-pop artist.

I'm just glad mods exist for pc. The voice itself is not that bad I think, just the delivery and the lines are too generic and cringe. Also I bet they gonna fix his face in some mods too.

The thing is Kazuya got nerfed and dumbed down so he got nothing in return. Steve in T8 has bad natural hit launchers but his b1 remains untouched which is very powerful for T8 standards.
None of you seen Steve's endings? This is how Steve sounds and acts with Paul and Law. I enjoy it. But they need to balance him out with more cool voice lines and not be full meme. Also are his lips decaying? And his forehead is so small. Namco can get Claudio Kazuya Leo and Asuka right. But how did they mess up Steve so badly? He looks awful, yikes.
Steve was always more serious though, sometimes cocky. But never this over the top 'street fighter' type.

In super and heat animations Steve looks totally different and really good. I dont know why its such a big differrence with gameplay model when even in render he looks just like normal steve
The guardbreak doesn't come from the new stance. He makes a back step (probably new b3) but he remains in orthodox stance (left punch in front), while when he goes to his new stance he goes southpaw (right punch in front) so I think the guard break doesn't come from the stance
It looked like that back step went directly into flicker stance. If b3 still exists this could possible me back 4 or something (or vice verse since b3 and b4 are the same move currently)

Ngl watching you play and understanding how steep the learning curb with steve is, has made him one of my favorite characters to both play and watch. Also STEHHHHHVEEE FAHHHX
One thing I looked into is that in his character bio for this game, he is essentially in a depression arc or something lmao basically after he learns the truth about his mom/Nina who doesn't care about him due to the circumstances of how he was born just from her DNA before the events of T3. He trains in the wilderness. I hope we see more progression with characters and story in this game which is rumored to have been apparently big budget. But in this age of modern gaming, I'm cautiously optimistic.
That's lame. I preferred the backstory of him finding out he was essentially a genetic experiment from Mishima Zaibatsu with devil gene which is why he is super human. Even if he found out Nina is his mom he shouldn't care, should just care to look more into his backstory and get revenge from the Mishima Zaibatsu.
To be fair, even though new stance feels broken, the reward he is getting is around 30 dmg with another mix for the same dmg. And we never seen him doing grab or low from it so with how buffed power crushes are in T8, I'd say if he went for that on block, neutral or after heat engager opponent will still have the advantage.

10:13 Well... since when have most combos ever been intended to work? It is mostly the community surrounding a fighting game that discovers what works and what doesn't and usually builds from there. Kinda like how with Lee in Tekken 6, b2 f (b2 to mist step) yes was intended to allow juggling moves like 1,2 f and b3,3~f but some mad lad discovered... "Hey, I can use another b2 if I time it right to the mist step", which has no become Lee's main long distance juggler. Or when pressing 'back' on a frame on Lee's mist step allows him to do 'WS'.
Essentially... it became a thing with Steve because Steve users saw it working, and decided to integrate it to their combos.

I think TMM mistook the new stance with the unblockable high. The unblockable is from a back step stance (probably replaces his B+3 since we don't see it at all in the trailer) and the mid heat engager is from the new stance

The mixing/mastering sound team could have better blended the voice actor properly in the track with the rest of the music and sound effects. The voice is fine, but it doesn't blend properly in the context of the trailer.

I fully agree with you mainmanswede! To be honest all these tekken 8 characters are starting blend in with eachother with no personal identity, their all so spammy with endless strings. There was a time when these characters were heavy required execution, not anymore and it ruins the character.....

This game is really gonna need the Street Fighter 5-style "fix ken and chun-li's fucked up faces" patch for a pretty solid chunk of the roster. Hopefully the hypothetical patched face actually looks GOOD and not just "somewhat less bad, still awful" like sf5 patched chun-li/ken.
To emphasize, i'm still gonna play this game to hell and back, but i'm glad the community's no longer looking the other way. As much as I hate to say it, I think it's time we ask harada for shit. I'm not a doomer, i'm not burying t8, I just don't think we're asking a lot here. I think the steve players have suffered enough since the last round of nerfs in 7, but even if you disagree with that this is still all of our problem: we gonna see thousands of hours of this face on streams and in game for the next 10 years, lets not want to puke looking at it 😂
I'm glad people are complaining about it now, but paul, law, feng, and steve look like completely different people now. They are off-model as fuck and don't look like any prior version of themselves. There's an argument to be made that it's the hairstyles for paul and law, but paul new hair is both bad in isolation AND very out of character making it extra bad, and law looks like Romulan Liu Kang. I can't imagine those being the only design ideas they had for them but that's what we got. Feng got addicted to Bogdanoff surgery like that episode of Aqua Teen and steve just straight predator'd someone else's skull onto his body like dmc5 Nero. Murray lookin at sf6 luke hair like "OH THAT'S GOOD, WRITE THAT DOWN" and sent that shit to the paul designers. Why does he suddenly want to look like a tween who listens to mumble rap despite being in his 50s? Paul already had and resolved the "i'm old and washed up, who even am i anymore" crisis four games ago.
It boggles the mind considering how good kazuya, jin, jack, p much all the ladies, and even gone-for-a-decade-ass raven and jun models look facially (like as in exactly like they should) but these models managed to make Feng "Intentionally Ugly Baki Pastiche" Wei's model too fucking ugly even by baki standards of such. I don't want Handsome Feng, I just want these guys i've been hanging out with for 20+ years who suddenly have different (worse) voices to at least LOOK like themselves even if they can't sound right.
Please harada, murray, whoever: I know you can't revive dead voice actors, but you totally can fix feng's fucked up face.
