Welcome to Our French Chateau!
We are Amanda and Lincoln. With our two daughters and pets in tow, we moved across the world from our home in San Francisco California to buy and restore a petite chateau on 40 acres in the beautiful French countryside of Brittany.
Our channel documents our triumphs and failures in restoring the 19th-century Chateau de Lingourdy. We plan to return the gardens, cottages and barns to their former glory (on a tight budget) and open them up for events and luxurious stays to the public. So if you're interested in observing daily life through the eyes of an American family whose French language skills are quite lacking and who have amassed a menagerie that includes cats, dogs, and donkeys. Martha Stewart has 5 donkeys. It was one of her vlogs where I learned they get fat eating too much grass. They get their faces washed with warm wash clothes when they get brushed. She like you, love and care for all her animals. You're doing a great job!

Invisible friends, lol, they’re easier to get along with! I love how the office came together, it’s a good space. Lincoln sounds like my husband-when we got together, his “filing system” was a mess of big, black garbage bags and old milk crates. 😱

I never realized the donkeys were as big as they are, but this particular camera angle really emphasized their heft! 900 lbs.! Whoa! Also, your office turned out wonderfully. You’re going to love that. ♥️

Love your design style! It’s fresh and the mix of old and new works the way you do it!! Lincoln really hurt himself in that fall and I can tell he has been suffering with it. I love the light fixture! I don’t know how to say it but it just feels balanced against the antiques. I could easily get lost in that room watching the donkeys while patting the cats. I’m happy to see Lincoln is on the mend.
I really like that you are not a slave to the period of the house and fill it with depressing, heavy Victoriana and gold leaf on …. EVERYTHING! The mixture of vintage and new is a delight to the eye!

This office is so clean and bright. I love how the door style emulates the doors on the wardrobe. I too mix old with new. Why not.
Fabulous make over, love it. Makes a huge change from massive amounts of prep work etc for you and Lincoln. I once fell off a high ladder and damaged my hand/shoulder, so extraordinarily painful. I used to do the same as Lincoln, work one day and have to rest the next. Had a few cortisone injections etc but eventually had a rotator cuff operation on my shoulder. The result was truly amazing as I hadn't fully realised just how much pain I had endured for a couple of years. Hopefully Lincoln will be back to full health asap. Also, as I personally never give via Patreon etc, I now let your adverts run their full course and watch to the end of your vlogs so that your YT revenue is as high as possible - every little helps! Great work guys,. As always, your vlogs are my absolute favourite.

So glad to see Lincoln is on the mend and love seeing those beautiful donkeys.....you take such good care of your 4 legged friends! That is a brilliant idea to remove all of those trees from the stone wall and area as they look like they are just seedlings that started to grow on their own. And yes, it will be so much healthier for the area with the sun coming in. Well done!! You are a great decorator and do such an amazing job. Have to say IKEA often fits the bill. Well done...again!!

Hi guys, very fun video. The donkeys are like big dogs that can kick hard. My grandmother plowed with two mules very old school. I forgot how huge their heads and ears are.
Love the light fixture color of desk, brocante chairs, rugs. Cats able to sun in office. Bits and bobs charming. The cleared avenue by orchard. If I left anything out let me say I just love everything plus, learning days of week in French. Fun.

Excellent idea to teach your donkeys to have their hooves handled - it will be easier and safer for the farrier and less stressful for the donkeys. Amanda your office makeover was gorgeous and glad that your shoulder is improving, Lincoln.

Terrific job clearing around the wall. It’s always so strange to me how much I love seeing others clean up spaces ! And love the office and the contemporary light fixture ! I normally wouldn’t think that would work well in a chateau but in this case it’s a home run.
Loving that room, and the Ikea ,mixed with really nice antiques. I'm usually not a fan of Ikea - but it looks great the way you've styled it. Ditto the 'sputnik' -ish lamp. Not a fan - looks fabulous here. Keep it.
Add another desk...same back to back. Then Lincoln can have more drawers ! Love the children’s drawings , rock, art. brilliant work. And hanging light!!
Great work Amanda and Lincoln. I think your workspace looks great. It's important to have a space that you can go to to do all those necessary and sometimes dreaded tasks and it's way better to do it in a comfortable welcoming space. Kudos for doing so much with so little.

I like that wild and crazy light fixture. That said I think the whole room is just great and good looking design wise. The only change I could suggest is to buy the exact same desk for Lincoln. Smile! He goes from one drawer to equal space at his own desk! Smiles!! I think those two gorgeous chairs at the desk are for deep important discussions with the cats. Cat chairs!! You are so much fun, I always enjoy visits with you! Hey, how about those donkeys....they are something special...great ears!! See you soon!!

It's been about a year since I start following your channel. I'm also from San Francisco and now living in south Finistere. It's been a real pleasure watching your adventure. My own home is quite a bit simpler but I've also had to restore it from top to bottom. So I can really relate.
