Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 787: A new standard of travel inspired by early Hawai‘i voyages

- Thousands of years ago, Pacific navigators first sailed to the Hawaiian Islands by observing the stars, sun, winds, waves and wildlife. Today we celebrate those time-honored traditions with the Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 787, an innovative aircraft that pays tribute to our wayfinding history while setting forth a new path of discovery.

I’m really happy that Hawaiian airlines decided to take delivery of the Boeing 787
No bullshit hopefully
They should’ve bought the 787 a long time ago over the A330. The only reason why they got A330 was their former CEO was a British guy
@@is500fsport5 Hawaiian got their first a330 in 2010 when the 787 was still years from service…
@@heotak3408 I assumed he was talking about the A330neo’s they had on order. However, if not the 787 entered service in 2011, so it was only a year away.
Hawaiian 787 have been around forever jjst waiting in San Antonio
It has been about 10 years since ANA flew B787 as the first flight of it. I’m glad that Hawaiian Airlines will fly dreamliners

As a native of Maui, I am so glad & thankful to have lived through so many years flying Hawaiian Air since the years of propeller-powered DC-3’s & Convairs. These Dreamliners will certainly be dreams come true! Proud that Hawaiian Air worked so hard w/ contracted teams to reflect the ever-present, fragile natural world of our Islands in the cabin design details. I did notice one little detail which I hope Avi M. & Alisha O. on the Hawaiian Air Team will choose to revise. If Hawaiian Air is, in fact, aiming for images of the traditional native experience, the shadows on the cabin walls would be far better off if they were of plants OTHER THAN the invasive Monstera deliciosa. Hawai’i would be better represented by palapalai & laua’e fern, maile, ‘ie’ie, coco palm fronds inside to complement Pualani’s hibiscus blossom on the 787’s tail rudder on the outside. Here’s another idea: When flying Hawaiian Air in the 50’s & 60’s, I remember the graceful Hawaiian Air women employees dressed in mu’umu’u & red carnation lei who greeted us near the luggage claim area & served chilled pineapple juice in Hawaiian Air logo paper cups. Perhaps the HA Dreamliner should resurrect that ground service; it would go perfectly as yet another part of Hawaiian Air’s travel history. Aloha & Mahalo, Hawaiian Air!
Anyone in a romantic relationship beware!
Finally, we have images of the interior. I’ve been waiting for such a Long Time.
You should play this on every 787 flight before the safety video!
As a frequent flyer of Hawaiian Airlines, I’m so exited to see and experience this beautiful new plane.
This is a beautiful cabin design, congrats to Hawaiin!
Beautiful plane and even better destination
めちゃくちゃ楽しみ!内装も爽やかでハワイを飛行機の中で感じさせるデザインですごくいい👍羽田で早くハワイアンのB787が見たい✈️
Gotta fix the upgraded resevation system and train the outsourced contract people. Been flying Hawaiian for many years, but this year has been terrible. Seats changed to the back section of the aircraft that separated my son's family from their 2 sons that are 4 and 2 years old. Then charged him upgraded seats which he aldeady paid for. Call 4 times, but only on the 4th call the agent decided to help. Other 3 said the couldn't help or couldn't get a supervisor. This happened on both round trip segments. Excuse equipment change. Funny same type of aircraft with same seat configuration.
Because of this he will not fly Hawaiian again.
As for me, changed my seat from 21C to 60C without notifying me. Good thing I always check.
We visit family every year in Hawaii and like the inflight service. Have relatives and friends that work at or retired from Hawaiian.
I love the wood design on the plane, it makes it like your sailing on a wooden ship in the sky and a good deceration.
May float to to save you when the next episode of Boeing losing parts happens
Can’t wait to see the ticket price!! LOL. It’s beautiful though. ❤️🌺🏝️
I am so glad they chose the 787 Dreamliner. I'm a big fan and always wanted to fly on that Aircraft type. I can't wait to fly on one of them.😍🤗
Do you live in Hawaii?
@@congresssux9766 Yes!
Travelers want clean, comfortable and aircraft to be ON time.
Especially on time!
Airbus!!
Looks beautiful…inside and out.
This will be an awesome addition to the fleet!
Wow - that Hawaiian livery looks fantastic on the 787 (at the very end)! A real head-turner at airports. In the business class seats, it looks like each seat is minus an armrest across from the console where you put stuff (the console looks really nice and wide). I’m not sure about that idea at all. At first I thought the couple had them down, but even the solo seat looks minus an armrest. The color scheme is super nice and very Hawaiian. I expect the service will be the same as on the A330, which is very gracious and relaxed. The food is always good, with an authentic island flavors. I’m a fan of Hawaiian - I don’t expect them to fly the 787 on 5.5 hour West Coast flights (why have lie-flat seats?) but I hope I’m wrong.
Everyone at Hawaiian and those working with them did a great job on the design. You couldn’t have chosen a better aircraft to use on your long haul, the Boeing 787 is a great aircraft.
Congrats on this exceptionally beautiful aircraft. 👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful video. Can't wait to to fly the 787!
I can’t wait to try the Leihōkū suites! 🤙🏼
And once again Hawaii strikes another point 😮💨💯
It looks amazing!!! I can't wait to fly home on this aircraft!!!
Please add a route to ORD, we love you Hawaiian!
Beautiful cabin, good job guys!
Beautiful, 787s are the best to fly on. Psyched to try it with Hawaiian
Beautiful livery!!!!
Wait! There’s a new Hawaiian Airlines Plane?!
First one arriving by year's end.
Beautiful bird!
Beautiful. I love the attention to detail.
This looks amazing! Can't wait to see it in person when I go see family!!
Can’t wait to fly them!
It's about time! Been flying to Hawaii from Tokyo a couple times and the plane can definitely upgrade!!!
Love everything done to the cabin, nice!
Looking forward to flying in this new aircraft.

Beautiful. Hope to experience this next year. :)
Looks great!!
So excited! I always fly Hawaiian airlines - it feels like ciming home even before i land on maui. Just hoping that at some point the airport on maui can get a much needed upgrade to match our stellar airline!
the delivery of this plane will be something we will anticipate
I always felt like I was already in Hawaii when I boarded one of Hawaiian Airlines Aircraft, Aloha Spirit
Looks A M A Z I N G!!!! Can’t wait to fly it. 😎🤙
Great jetliner ...
Wi-Fi? Much needed!
I can't wait to book my flight and be on this flight. I'm so excited.
Looking very nice.
I think this arrived on my birthday
Very nice. Can't wait to fly in the Leihoku suite.
Next is to join OneWorld!!
My choice when I travel to Hawaii, the Hawaii experience starts as soon as you board the plane.
...and you wear Hawaiian style shirts while designing them.. Mint!
I love the 787 and I love Hawaiian Airlines. I look forward to flying aboard and can't wait for the inaugral flight in 2024
Is still 2024 it will go into service?
@@sheansankar2998 according the release on thier site, it is
November of 2023 per my Hawaiian connection. No long haul yet but NY to Hawaii will be the 1st look
I am a CFI working in USA as a foreigner. Trying to work out the visa problem so I can work at the Hawaiian airlines!! I have 4years of OPT that allows me to work in USA. Hopefully some of the 'proper' airlines such as Hawaiian give visa sponsorship to F-1 visa students👍
Amazing video. I'd like to see what their inflight safety video is like. Great looking plane. Mahalo!
Beautiful! @HawaiianAirlines will you be implementing new amenity kits for business class?
Please fly to Ontario Airport!!! I really love to see you guys fly at my favorite, and home airport. 💖💖💖
Beautiful detailed cabins, but please do something with meal service!
Finally I thought they canned the 787 plan
@@Blue_Line_Member Smallest fleet means amount of aircraft not type. Many airlines operate a single type like Southwest.
Can’t wait to fly on it. Woohoo
Can’t wait to fly to Hawaii in this 787 .
I'm the 9th person to watch this video!
Several comments are asking what routes the 787 will fly. I can only tell you what was reported in airline/aviation trade magazines from about 2 years ago is that HA will be putting the 787 on its Asia/Oceana routes, meaning Japan, New Zealand, and Australia. Subject to change, of course.
It will be on it's longer haul premium routes.
Yep and probably continue the Airbus a330s on there HNL - NYC , Boston and Orlando routes !
@@sanitman1488 The Honolulu-Orlando route was discontinued close to a year ago. I was sorry to see it go, it was the whole reason I decided to make a trip to HI in the first place.
There’s no reason to use a 787 to the West Coast, where they fly their A330s, which are great for 5.5 hour flights. 2-2-2 seating is spacious, but a bit exposed. They aren’t competitive with JAL/ANA/Qantas, though. This reverse herringbone mini-cabin definitely is. Plus it has an island vibe. They’ll probably be used for premium East Coast runs, too - those are HA’s longest at around 10 hours, aren’t they?
@@get2dachoppa249 I’d didn’t know this. Thanks for correction 👍
The interior of your new Boeing 787 Dreamliner is so beautiful, and tastefully executed. I'm sure the passengers will already have the feeling that they are in Hawaii from the moment they board the plane. If I should ever win some money, Hawaii would be my dream destination. Flying a Hawaiian 787 acrross the Pacific would actually take care of three firsts for me. Unfortunately as a recent senior citizen, this will probably never happen ...but I can always keep dreaming and hoping, right? 🌴 ☀ 🏖
It’s been so long since you said you’re getting the 787. I thought that you would get rid of it!
The 787 will fill a big gap in HAL's operations for sure. Nonstop from Honululu to Tokyo or from Kona to Toyko will be huge.
I hope St. Louis Lambert Airport KSTL will get to see this Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 787 someday.
Hopefully, the lay down seats are more comfortable than then the current one.
phew i thought you got rid of it
Any specific routes yet that you can announce that will fly the 787?
Great !!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks so beautiful! When can we expect to see the aircraft in service?😊
I think they're going into service early next year in 2024.
@@HenryRH it’ll be later than early next year
@@rare2917Hawaiian expects its first delivery in Q4 of this year, around November. Then another three 787’s in 2024. Not sure exactly on entry of service.
Congrats! It looks amazing.
Hoping the 787 will be available to fly my Fiancé and I to Honolulu this November for our Honeymoon! Can’t wait love the 787 Design!
I hope this will enable them to come further into the states, rather than just the West Coast. After moving out of California, I haven't been able to find any affordable flights without staying over in other places which costs more, too.
If you would spend as long on passenger comfort and food and drinks, that would be great.
Should of went with the A330 Neo
Flights direct to Manila would be nice.
🙏🦋❤️🌏👨👩👧👦Love from Kempten
I wish hawaiian airlines would get a gate and fly out of slc, I think you would do great in the slc market.
You guys should also use the 747-8s from Korean Air from 2031
I sure hope this means in-flight service will be improved. I recently flew on a round-trip flight from Sacramento to Oahu and was surprise by how much the service has been downgraded prior to the last time I flew on Hawaiian.
Do a Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcano version too.
For the business class, how long is the bed length? Pitch should be dense to have 34 paxes in the cabin.
What about your software, will it work
Mahalos
When are you guys going to fly the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to Phoenix?✈️
Hopefully it will be available for BOS route
I'm pretty sure it would be Boston or NY. It would make sense to use the Dreamliner for the Long Haul.
Sydney Australia is one of the longest routes - I don't understand why the 787 wouldn't have been included on the roster for the longest hauls
I really hope the HNL-LHR routing is still a possibility as it was pre Covid. Would love to see A Hawaiian 787 plane at London. I might even fly the route.
London isn't a big market to Hawaii.
Agreed. There are many other destinations that are Hawaii-like, such as Indonesia, Thailand, Canary Islands, most Med countries, and even Malaysia that are closer to the UK, not to mention cheaper, than the 14 hr polar-route flight between LHR & HNL.
I agree but it won't sell as well although HA can do a HNL-JFK-LHR if applicable to do so. Stop wait on the return trip back to Honolulu from London you can simply clear Customs at JFK so that way you are treated as a domestic passenger between Honolulu and JFK Airport. That's the same principle as UA MNL-EWR via Guam and Honolulu or DL MNL-EWR post NW merger via DTW and NRT. Basically, you use one of the u.s. airports as an international entry point and then domestic to your final destination. *DTW has strict procedures when entering US from Asia MNL via NRT/NGO*
@@EpicThe112 Tag ons like that don't work.
@@johniii8147 for what reason exactly? Some DL flights inherited from NW were like that take such as NW071 EWR-MNL via NGO & DTW. DL172/173 was MNL-MIA via NRT & JFK
Beautiful! But please keep the A330 on the BOS to HNL route, please.
ooooh fancy!
What are the anticipated routes? BOS, JFK, SYD, LAX, or SFO perhaps?
They have yet to formally announce routes.
Looks really great! Any idea what cities it will be flying out from?
The TPG article mentioned it will first be used on West Coast routes where Hawaiian's mainland maintenance facilities are located, before eventually expanding to use on the Boston and international Pacific routes.
I can confirm Honolulu. 😂
What routes will it be flying? I’ve flown from JFK four times on the A-330, and inter island on the 717. I wonder if the 787 will be on the JFK route.
I can't WAIT too fly this jet in business class for my 50th birthday 2 week bucket list trip to Hawaii. I thought i'd be on their A330 which i wouldn't mind either. But flying non stop from Boston Logan to Honolulu i would much prefer the new 787-9. Last i heard they took delivery of 11 787's but Covid pushed back there launch date. I think they will have a few in service by the end of this year and the remaining bunch by 2026. Either way i'm really excited and hope i'll be on one of these beauties for my trip. I'm rather surprised though they went with Boeing instead of a new fleet of A330-NEO's.
