This is the first time I've seen Sam's face and it's quite different from how I imagined it. Though this is a dilemma for me now: I want to watch the video version, but this was my go-to podcast for when I was somewhere out and about.
I genuinely thought I knew what Sam Schultz looked like before today. I assumed I had seen him on SciShow or P4A or something but, no, the image I had in my head was completely imagined.
THIS IS AWESOME! It's so weird that I had a completely different mental image of Ceri and Sam and now I have to reformat my mind about who I'm listening to. This was a great idea, thank you for it and thank you for doing such an awesome podcast!
Second thoughts here. I think I'm going to keep my mental image of you when I listen to the podcast and surprise myself everytime I see you on RUclips, just because it's been too long just listening to you that my mind is pretty much made up on how you look like.
Also doing a mental readjustment here... canonical or not, the gravitas their confident voices gave them in my mind added decades to their actual ages!!! LOL

Ive missed this show so much! ever since HFS switched to tangents then went audio only :( im ashamed to say i subscribed immediately to that but then never could commit to the audio-only version, despite it always being the one podcast in my spotify. often popping up on my home page. idk what the difference rlly is. but i am so happy to see all you guys again on youtube ive missed ceri and sam 🪱❤

This is great because everytime I heard Hank or someone talk about SideShow Tangents I'd go "oh! that sounds cool!" but then they'd say it was a podcast and I'd go "Oh.. I don't really.. I don't really listen to podcasts anywhere (no Spotify); I'd have to change my whole routine to listen to THAT then. Darn."

I absolutely love the idea of a widely available restaurant with 3 dollar meals, even if you don't get to choose what food you get. I would totally go there all the time. This is basically school lunch, and it's what I eat pretty much every day already. I'm not going to complain. It's decent food in good portions, and it's cheaper than any other fast food joint. Easily one of the best options out there. Imagine if other food chains had to compete with that...
0:30 if I had $50bil to buy any company I'd buy Costco too. I love the company, they treat customers well, and their employees LOVE the company since they treat employees well with good pay and good benefits. The food court is awesome. You have no idea how many immigrants and refugees I know who lived off the food court since they had bosses, friends, hoet families, etc who had memberships or multiple people combined their resources to get a membership. Its super cost effective. I'd buy the company, raise pay for employees, higher recent immigrants, and then ask my super happy employees to get more people to join up. I find it endlessly hilarious that Costco is one of the worlds largest retailers despite not doing much online and having very few locations. I know people who will travel 50-100 miles round trip for giant shopping trips to the nearest Costco. My dad would drive 50 miles round trip twice a month to shop at costco before they opened one near him since costco is JUST THAT AWESOME
Going through the Tangents backlog so yes Im very late. But I can't believe you brought up ice worms without talking about the Iceworm Festival! A little Alaskan fishing village called Cordova has a festival every year in the winter to celebrate the ice worm! They even make a giant ice worm costume for the parade that functions kind of like the Chinese dragons for Lunar New Year with many people wearing it to puppet it.
Right at the start when Ceri talks about Vermes I was like "hmm, that sounds similar to 'vermicelli' to me" and while I was looking that up I found out there's a snake genus called Vermicella* and I refuse to believe that these three noodly things' names are unrelated. *Vermicella are commonly known as bandy-bandies and I think that's just delightful. Anyway thanks for spurring on my own tangent of sorts 😅
HOW DID I MISS THERE WAS A VIDEO VERSION NOW?!?! I do normally listen to this as I sleep though... do I now have to double enjoy Tangents both visually AND aurally? Damn straight I am.
