    Anyone else want him to post his measurements? Purely for scientific purposes, nothing to do with a life sized Lindy Beige body pillow.

      He might have liked the bucket helmet (or called crusader helmet?) as in Jerusalim there were many attempts of assasinations, something to expect when the "religion of peace" appeared! Quran 47: 4 "So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah - never will He waste their deeds."

    Someday, once I complete my classes in precision metalworks, in going to build myself a modern interpretation of a WWII tank.

    Probably a set me back a bit, but I could make historically accurate 38(t)'s out of mild steel and sell them to recoup the costs.

      gi70st Different jobs require different tools, hammers of different weight or shape.

    • @fanta4897
      @fanta4897 8 лет назад

      Wouldn't just one hammer do the job(of course I understand that you need hammers with different shapes, but different sizes not so much, and yes, I'm speaking from experience since my father is blacksmith too, and I never saw him using two or three normal shaped hammers that he has in his workshop).

    • @chiddiddychip123
      @chiddiddychip123 8 лет назад +1

      Frank Teryngel Fair enough. the dude I trained under had different shaped faces on his hammers as this left different effects on the steel. Although it would depend on the kind of work being done. Your father may do different style of forging or may be skilled enough to perform a variety of tasks with a smaller selection on hammers.

    • @Earthenfist
      @Earthenfist 8 лет назад +9

      As a metalsmith-in-training that does a lot of very small stuff- you'd be surprised how much the weight of the hammer affects your control, and the impact on the metal. In armoury you're going to need a lot more finesse and a lot less power for working on stuff like the finger armour, and much more weight but less finesse for doing general shaping on the breastplate. Having a slightly convex hammer face vs. a completely flat one, for when you're dishing. And different hardnesses of hammer face as well- it's possible you'll want a softer hammer when doing detailed work or repairing a piece of plate.
      Then there's the different kinds of hammers to use with different tools- again, softer or harder faces, your 'nice' hammers with mirror-smooth faces vs. the nicked up ones you use on chisels- chasing hammers for chasing and reposé, brass or wooden hammers for raising, hammers you use when cold-forging vs. hammers you use when hot-forging...

    • @steffan147
      @steffan147 8 лет назад +2

      The USS Constitution was a 44 gun frigate whilst the HMS Victory was a 104 gun First Rate. There'd be very little contest in a straight up battle between the two. The only advantage the Constitution would have is that its more manoeuvrable but, if i remember rightly, Victory was pretty fast for a 1st rate.

    • @SonsOfLorgar

      SonsOfLorgar I was just confused why IA_Seldon thought the Constitution would somehow trump Victory. Now USS Pennsylvania on the other hand (the first rate, not the dreadnought). Although there were 72 years between Victory and Pennsylvania being built.
