    Inu Manak
(Fellow for trade policy, Council on Foreign Relations CFR)
    Welcome and introduction:
    Holger Hestermeyer
(Professor of International and European Union Law, Vienna School of International Studies)
The US approach to international trade has changed significantly in the last years. The competition with China looms large in DC and ever fewer people advocate for free trade and the negotiation of new free trade agreements. Discontent with the Appellate Body of the WTO has led to the US blocking new nominations leading to the body’s demise, much to the dismay of European partners. Arguments of WTO legality seem to have lost their significance. Inu Manak will guide us through the current state of trade policy in the US and point out the differences in the approaches of a future Harris or future Trump administration.
