Replaced 4 of these today in my 2003 120 Prado as part of the injector replacement job. Easy enough to get out but a real pain inserting the new seals. Unfortunately tapping them with a 1/4" drive caused some tearing due to a metal ring just below the surface but I think it is superficial. After the first one I used Molykote on the others which helped a little. Wish I had read the comment about using 40mm waste pipe before hand!
Flip the cover over so it's facing up like when installed. Gently force a small screwdriver between the seal and the cover, then gently pry and they pop right out. No damage to the seal or cover and about 10 seconds for each one. I took photos but don't know how to attach them here. Will try again
That is another way to do it and works well but when the vehicle is very old and the cover is brittle Seals can be stuck quite badly at times you need to be careful that you don’t crack the external area of the cover the underneath area is much stronger and safer which is why we demonstrate to do it that way it can be done a number of different ways thanks for your input
thanks, you have really nice videos well explained, i was looking for the second video of 1kdf injector replacement, i have a toyota hilux 1kd ftv and im goin to change the gasket valve and so wanted to change also the injector rings etc.
Just trying to show d.i.y it with the basic tools a Diy might have and how you can be a bit rough and it’s just not gonna hurt anything with minimal care.

I wonder if you could use a wheel bearing puller on a slide hammer to get it out? No prying.

We use 40mm pvc pipe to install seals works great

Sir it cause be a check engine if damage the injector seal?

You could also use a seal pick!

Its really really hard to remove and iam scared to damage it thats why i only change the 3 seals hehe i left the one
