I just got done watching this vid and damm Tokido really destroyed that Akuma that crossed his path. The Sagat that was fighting Infiltration actually got a little fresh with him. I really enjoyed those 2 matches.
What I think they meant was that they'd have games for PC still.. however, they will no longer force users to make a Games for Windows Live account. Its kind of like Xbox Live, but for Windows. Seems silly to get a Steam account to buy USF4, then create a GFWL account on top of that.
I love akuma, so badass and one of the most balanced characters in the entire game. Almost every matchups is 5-5 and a few 6-4s. Thankfully the devs understand the higher tiers are balanced so the lower tiers are getting the good buffs to even up their matchups, AE2012 is balanced but I think Ultra could b even better.
It isn't technically safe, Ryu can counter it with Super, so can Chun Li (and she can use Ultra 1 as well), Dudley can counter it with Rolling Thunder, and from some distances Fei Long can use Rekka.
Akuma is a top tier when is perfectly mastered, learning akuma means loosing a lot before realize what to do. He also has a lot of bad match ups like brain dead Blanka
Was Akuma, but I could never get the hang of the vortex. I've been playing more Ryu and Sagat but honestly, this game is too much about knockdowns and mixups for me. I enjoyed the original SF4 a lot more because fireball characters were the strongest. I'm an old school SF player, I like stuff like Super SF2 Turbo.
but in real terms it can be used very freely, the only thing I can punish it with using ryu is super at max range. it can be spammed fairly imperviously.
Yeah, but to be honest, You don't see much sweeps getting punished in this game. Only at high level play do you see solid whiff punishes on sweeps. Shoto sweeps in general is hard to punish except for Ryu's. His is the most unsafe of all shoto's. So in comparison Akuma's is really strong. Hopefully they make it a bit more unsafe so it's not as spammable in the mid range. However I hope it's still as strong from max range.
Very good vid, but you got his characterisation at the end wrong or to put it better Gouki and Akuma are vastly different characters believe it or not. The subtitles are just a transcript of the english voice work and not a translation of the original japanese voice over. When a match begins Akuma says: "I am Akuma and I will teach you the true meaning of pain!" whereas Gouki says: "My name is Gouki, show me your true attack!". Another example in the boss fight Shin Akuma says "My fists bleed death. Welcome to your doom!" Badass line but the reverse of the original which goes like this "My fist is ready to face death. Show me your Asura" (Not the one from the Capcom game :P). With this we end up at reverse motivations. While Akuma indeed wants to kill Ryu while he has his full power, Gouki wants to be killed in a battle to the death by an unleashed Ryu. Akuma is a killer, Gouki is a challenger.
its one person his name is gouki and we refer to him with akuma cuz it means " evil itself " so when he says " i am akuma " he's trying to imply thats he's " devil " himself and he doesnt wanna kill ryu at all he want to teach him that the power is everything and would kill him if ryu fails to understand him and etc etc etc
I have allready proved here that they are different in character because they say very different things to their opponent. So no it goes beyond 2 different names for the same person.
When the character basically says things that are opposite in meaning in two different languages it is not a localization issue. No translator is that inept especially on multiple occasions. The japanese sentence and the english sentence basically NEVER match. It is the same thing with shotos. Capcom USA says Ryu, Ken, Akuma etc practice Shotokan Karate. In Japan they practice Ansatsuken.
Try playing him then. Akuma might be top tier but he is very difficult to master and takes real skill and definitly NOT braindead. Cammy and Sakura on the other hand....
Great editing on this one man, keep it up!

A NEW WARRIOR HAS ENTERED!

I still say a hard knockdown character like akuma should not have a safe on block sweep, i think that may change in ultra
It's not safe on block. It's -9 with 27 frames of recovery.
The only thing I've read is that he will no longer be able to cancel it into Demon :(

LOL are you dumb? It's literally common knowledge that they're literally the same person. It's just localization.
