  • You've Been Lied To About Africa (The Truth Exposed)
“Africa is poor, and unsafe to live.” This is one of the most common misconceptions people have about living in Africa. The truth is, it is not your fault. Over the years, Western media has shown negative images and focused on the poorest and most isolated regions in Africa. This is driven by cultural and political biases and business interests. Of course, there are poor and underdeveloped regions in Africa.
But In reality, Africa is a relatively comfortable place to live. It is home to over 50 different countries and has some of the best urban cities. To see how this continent really is, it is important to challenge the dominant framework posed by the media and look at Africa from a different perspective. That’s why it is best to experience things and see for yourself. Today we will help you debunk all the popular myths about this culturally rich and stunning continent.

Exactly, every area in the world has its poor counterpart, thats how the economy functions nowadays and always generally has, a terribly skewed monetary distribution from the wealthy, causing ghettos and poor undeveloped countries. There are many other factors to this such as racism/political instibility etc.

It’s not just western media. Yes countries like Morocco South Africa and Tunisia may be doing pretty well (still struggling with violence and corruption) but the sad truth is that most of central Africa is poor and impoverished. If you look at the blue marble a map that depicts electricity almost all of Africa is pitch black besides a few major cities. Compared to other continents that sparkle with light. Many African nations are failing states and the only real safe havens are the Seychelles Mauritius Botswana and maybe Rwanda now. Africa is improving but they are still behind every other continent by average. I only wish the best for Africa. I hope this was a respectful and educated way to sum up the state of the continent Right now. 👍

As a "black-american" , in my area we grew up with no information about Africa other than what I learned in schools and on tv/commercials, which is mainly that everywhere in africa people lived in huts and on the land. I'm sure people from Africa are upset to hear about this but the reality is that most of us here in the States, prior to the internet would never have known how beautiful the motherland truly is without it. There are probably books and college courses people can take but the average black american wouldn't know and if they are not curious like I am, they won't bother to seek this information out. After I earn my degree, I plan on moving to SA or Morocco.

I'm from Africa. I got here in late middle school going to Freshman yr according to the ages(Back home my education level was a junior in HS at 13 going on 14, a story for another time), I was baffled at how Africa is portrayed, people treated me like I was a savage being, like I was a dirty senseless person who's been living under a rock. Kids would make some to like "do you have houses? Have you seen white people? You're so skinny, do you need food? You smell!" IT would upset me but when I got older, I understood it's the media's portrayal of this continent that causes individuals to think so less of Africa.
      First off:
      Poverty is EVERYWHERE.
      Racism is EVERYWHERE.
The Media will always mislead you.
Anything/anyone unfamiliar to you is always foreign.
I got tired of explaining that I have seen cars, motorcycles & caucasians before; none of the stereotypical thinking was foreign to me. My hair was halfway down my back. Yes, I had a strong smell but it was due to the organic diet I was used to. In africa we don't heal every ailment with pills or run to the doc every 5mins for our next refill then cover up with Channel #5. Unless it's life-threatening, everything can be found in nature; it was common knowledge bc our grandparents took the time to teach it to children. "Organic" is everyday for us! I had never heard the words, "Racism, Cancer, Gay, LGBTQ, Mixed, etc" so commonly used & applied until I got to USA. Any person from Africa can second this to a second extinct depending on which area they're from. Back home, we ain't got time to focus on useless and senseless thinking that is divisive and destructive to a soul or the community cuz we too busy building it the best way we can.
I cried so much as a young adult cuz I miss home but God had different plans so it's my new home. I am very thankful to know where I come from however, as the movie black panther showed you, there is sooooo much confusion in the black community's true identity it's heartbreaking. Thank the heavens there is a God who will make all the wrongs right in our humanity, we too broken....I doubt we'd make it another century

The houses there are huge and the nightlife is lively. People can’t live in ignorance - they have to go out and see it for themselves. What’s the point of life if you’re trapped in a cage and can’t explore the world! Before going to Ghana I thought it’d be a poor country like what we see on adverts, but it’s literally just like the western world, just hotter and different ways of living. The houses there are huge and the nightlife is lively. People can’t live in ignorance - they have to go out and see it for themselves. What’s the point of life if you’re trapped in a cage and can’t explore the world! We have to stop believing what the media feeds us as it only benefits them and their agendas to leave the masses under their spell to make us into sheep.

Johannesburg is ignored, and suffers criminally because of it. My family was robbed at gunpoint due to their extremely poor law enforcement. Meanwhile, Cape Town is a fun tourist spot, where every person you walk past calls you "brother" when they greet you. While there are many slums throughout the continent where impoverished people reside, there are also middle income homes and suburbs that look somewhat like ones you’d see in western countries. I was arguing history with a denialist once, He was saying that African architecture was just mud huts, I pointed to him that there was a time when the Chinese traded with Africa. He called it a "random" example.

      Arabs also traded with Africans.
I wonder why people refuse to learn African history and when you tell them about It, they deny it still.😢

Roughly 70% of the N population in Africa live in slums lol. No one is denying that they trade, they traded their own to ✡️s centuries ago.

fun history fact, when the europeans arrived to africa, most tribes had not yet discovered the existence of the wheel.
And the europeans also traded with africa, the europeans asked for prisoners of war in exchange they gave african leaders weapons to proceed with further conquest.

Egypt and Sudan have architecture that predates anything in Europe. However, those are the exceptions. The vast majority of Africa has nothing that predates the European colonial era so it's fair to say they lived in mud hits and very basic dwellings. Which is fine.

Saying Africa is poor is like saying Europe is poor because of the Balkan’s, or that American is poor because of the ghettos, you can’t look at a few small places of poverty and stereotype it with the rest of Africa, with Europe it’s actually the opposite, stereotyping it as a rich perfect utopia, but when looking what is going on in Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia ( Slovenia not included as they are doing quite well compared to the other other countries that are in this region, as well as Turkey because even though they do have land in the Balkans and are culturally Balkan, most of the issues that happen in the country happen in the Asian part of the country) you will realize it is not all Paris, Madrid, Berlin, and Rome like portrayed, you will see corruption, poverty, people leaving the country they are in as soon as they get the chance to ( which causes a lot of cases of brain drain) terrible infrastructure, and many more things ( obviously will vary from place to place, and there are good places in the Balkans

Its great to see you are showing the amazing agricultural and social achievements of africa. The media has simply concentrated too much on the bad stuff, and not enough time on the good things. Its important to raise awarness about problems in africa. But we should also show it from a different angle.
