Hi Melinda, yes, I’ve always liked Visconti’s productions so this compilation was a good one to get. Autograph nice bonus, just very strange that the Bowie’s are only on the cd boxset and not on the vinyl. I can only imagine it must have been contractual reasons. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it. Mike
Originally I wasn't interested in Black Friday RSD but after a closer look, I decided to go & happy that I did. I picked up 3 items / I also picked up the Faces along with John Lee Hooker & the best bargain of the day was Little Feat Live 3 LP set for only $50
It seems a little of the recordings John Perl was associated with really hit the mark and this one certainly did. He was a real champion of the Faces in those days. They really played with a free spirit in those days. Mike
Very sad Mike. I only saw him once and the wall of sound he made on his own was incredible. Very unique guitarist, very much the Killing Joke sound. Mike 🥲
Glad you were able to get the Richards/Perry set. Your consolation prize at the first store was pretty cool. I bet that Faces album is fantastic! Nice boxset too. Wonderful finds Mike. Cheers!
I’m loving the laid back groove of the Keef and Scratch EP Gary. I need to explore more of Perry’s stuff. The Face’s album is good old down and dirty bar room r ‘n’ r, it’s great. Mike
Great job Mike & I love the posters. I picked up about 10 RSD releases Faces, Little Feat, Willie, Leon, Jerry Lee a few picture discs & some greatest hits. The sad part is they weren’t packages very well & 9 of the 10 were damaged with badly damaged corners. I’m not even going to reach out to the record store & complain because they can’t replace what was damaged because there’s no remaining stock. As far as Tony Visconti that looks great; Rhino records has a podcast where they interviewed Tony about the 50th anniversary of T. Rex’s Electric Warrior check it out I think you’ll enjoy the interview.
Hi Dan, That is terrible! It's appalling when you think how much these records cost. I agree with you on the dilemma because I don't believe the Indie record store have any comeback with the RSD distributors and as you say you may not be able to get again simply because a particular record has been sold out! It's definitely a flaw of RSD. But I think the package from Little Feat from what I've seen is good value, hopefully yours is ok? I'll check out The TV interview as I am a big fan. Mike
Nice pick on Faces ! I didn't go.. I am buried in records and coming up for air ! I watched the film " Blinded By The Light".. Wonderful film ! Last month, I bought the double vinyl ( soundtrack ) on Amazon for 10 dollars !
I can’t believe it JT, but I’ve never seen that film, and I have everything by Bruce! I must watch it real soon. Your collection is amazing my friend! Mike
@pc31thevinylpoliceman I know you will enjoy it ! Same director as " Bend It Like Beckham".. Nice film and big nod to " The Boss" ! ( He loved it, by the way )
What an I tersting box set. To do one dealing with a producer is great. I really like that. Very interesting concept for a box set Lee ScratchPerry , such a prolific artist. Doug at Fat City Vinyl has done some incredible deep dives into his music. Great stuff there honorary Steve aka Mike
I’m not a great one for compilations hon.Mike, but Visconti has always been a Producer I’ve always liked. Very strange no Bowie on the vinyl, must be contractual. I’m loving the groove of the Scratch/ Keef, it’s very chilled and laid back, I think I need a deep dive. Wannabe Steve
@@pc31thevinylpoliceman Hi Mike, its getting there slowly, was hoping to have it all up and completed during my two days off but alas time did not permit. - Lloyd
Wowza! That boxset is amazing!! And you have the cd version too????? Ok I’ve gotta go take a heart pill I’m getting faint ..😮😵😦!! Good to see you....take care-🙏🏻✨🎶✊🏻
It's great that you were given some compensation for not finding the Lee Perry/Keith record (I love the Kinks poster) and then you found it later anyway! I have a few Lee Perry records that I really like: Return of the Super Ape and Roast Fish, Collie Weed and Cornbread.
I’m really loving the laid back feel of the Lee Perry EP. Definitely makes me want to explore his stuff further, as I know little about his music. What one would you recommend as an entry K? Mike
@@pc31thevinylpoliceman He recorded a lot, so I haven't heard most of it, but I love the ones I mentioned above. Roast Fish, Collie Weed and Cornbread is under his name. Super Ape, Return of Super Ape and War Ina Babylon were released under the name "The Upsetters". Any of those four are a great place to start.
Hey Mike - congratulations on getting that Faces record. Great band. And Keith with Lee Perry! That should be great. Tony Visconti box looks awesome. I'm not too familiar with him. It's interesting that he left David Bowie out of the vinyl box but featured him prominently in the CD box. Thanks for showing the records!
Hi Randy, I’m Particularly loving the Keith and Scratch EP. It’s got a great laid back groove to it. Definitely makes me want to explore Scratch a lot more. Really strange Bowie was left of the records, I guess it must have been contractual or makes no sense. Mike
Hi Mike, great selection. I passed on the Lee Scratch Perry EP, but having heard that needle drop I’m going to have to see if I can pick it up on line. If you looking to pick up more of the Mighty Upsetter Super Ape is a good place to start, there is also a great CD box set called Arkecology, it was released about 20 years ago but if you can find a copy you won’t be disappointed, it is really a comp of all the stuff he produced, all of which sounds more like LSP than the actual artist/ group! I heard the Tony Visconti box was coming out but thought the vinyl was just a double. Another one I’m going to have to invest in! Have you read his autobiography? Well worth a read. Andy
To be honest Andy I primarily got the Scratch/ Keef EP because of Keef. But I was really surprised, Scratch is excellent, I didn’t know much about him before, but I’m loving the laid back groove. So do you think Mighty Upsetter is a good entry point for me? I’ll also look out for Arkecology as your description sounds great. So pleased I picked up that EP. I’m not normally one for compilation boxsets but I’m a big fan of Visconti and his productions so had to get that one. Yes, I’ve got his autobiography, great read. Strange no Bowie on the vinyl, can only guess its contractual as Visconti is so synonymous with Bowie. Thanks for watching and commenting Andy. Mike
I tend to always like BBC and John Peel Sessions, so I was interested in that Faces collection if I'm lucky enough to still find one. Freebies always make me feel better too LOL. Nice comp box set, it looks very interesting and has some excellent artists. Even the CD version looks pretty awesome. Nice pick ups!
Most unlike me to go for a compilation boxset Mike, but I’ve always liked Tony Visconti productions and the artists he tends to work with. Nice autograph as well. Strange Bowie not on the vinyl, must be contractual I guess. I completely agree about the John Peel sessions, they always seem to capture something a bit special. Mike
Doyen, I scored a grand total of two...The Beat & The Jesus Lizard. Didn't lay my eyes on the Faces unfortunately. Nice Hackney & Kinks posters. I got to see Lee Perry at the Fuji Rock. It was as weird and wonderful as I hoped it would be. The Doyen nailed it with the Visconti set. Cheers...SBMBE PS RIP Geordie Walker
Hi Sir Benster, I’m very late to Scratch, but I love his laid back style. I need me some more Scratch. Wow, you saw him, brilliant. Geordie….. the sound of KJ, sadly missed. D🎸
Glad you managed to track down the Keith Richards EP Mike. So far I've managed to resist any Black Friday releases (or deals) - but there's still time...Lovely looking Visconti box with some great artists and tracks by the sound of it...strange there's no Bowie on the vinyl...cheers Dale
The Scratch / Keef EP was a really nice surprise. Very laid back with a nice chilled groove. I didn’t know too much about Scratch prior to this, but makes me want to explore some more. Mike
Hi Mike - I missed RSD, but I went out the next day to review leftovers and didn't get anything. The Perry/Richards EP sounds really interesting. I haven't heard about the Visconti box set. Wow, that looks amazing. Nice t-sirt, by the way 🙂
Hi Brian, the t-shirt was a bit spooky as I wore it the day before Geordie Walker sadly passed away. The Perry/Keef EP is a really good one. It has a laid back groove, makes me want to explore Perry’s work a lot more. Mike
Hello Mike....RSD ain't really my thing but I've come across albums from it well after the event and purchased them. Had I bothered checking what was for sale etc... I'd of been tempted by that Faces album and possibly the Perry/Richard's offering as well. All the best 👍👍👍
The LSP ep is nice Mike. The Visconti box is beautiful but l don't think such a diverse set of artists would get played by me on a compilation. Always nice to see what you've be getting Mike. You must have some poster collection...
I’m really loving the laid back groove on the Scratch and Keef EP Mike. It makes me want to explore Scratch’s stuff more. It was very unlike me to get any type of compilation, but I really liked Visconti so I made an exception here. Mike
Hi Mike, that is really confusing why there are no Bowie tracks on the vinyl version of the Visconti set. Surely their inclusion would have been a huge selling point!
Really strange Richard, in fact ridiculous, I can only imagine that it was contractual. Because as you heard there are several Bowie tracks on the cd boxset, and Visconti is so synonymous with David. Crazy world! Mike
Wow! What a cool autograph. 😃 Very nice box set! Take care.

Three excellent pick ups Jimmy! That Little Feat set was definitely a bargain. Mike
The Faces BBC RSD release is my #1 want. I think they are one of the best bands from the early 70’s.
It seems a little of the recordings John Perl was associated with really hit the mark and this one certainly did. He was a real champion of the Faces in those days. They really played with a free spirit in those days. Mike
