Many perfume bottles really are designed super beautifully. They’re like small statues or decorations in your home. I wholeheartedly agree that they should be refillable.

Trust me, this virtue signaling goes way beyond this simple "eco" switch. This is the very reason brands like Disney have failed. They could care less about any of the virtues they purport to care about.
And Prada could make giant bottles in their stores so you can come and pay for a refill from this bottles with no need to produce thousands of small plastic refill bottles.

I guess it's a step in the right direction. A refilling station in a Prada store would've been the ideal, since buying another bottle of refill is just bonkers from a sustainability point of view, but I guess it can't be helped if we're just not quite there yet. So a step in the right direction it is. :)
for sure! a refilling station would be an amazing change. And even with the plastic bottle, it would be way easier to recycle as a whole than the glass packaging, so i guess that's another pro.

@@clairewillow6475 my wording was definitely not very good, but glass is more difficult to process and recycle to give it another life cycle, any breakage of a container that needs to be whole makes it unusable, therefore having to undergo a different process; furthermore, if glass is mixed with any other recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, and it breaks and pulverizes, makes the entire batch very hard to process and, in some cases, unusable. What i meant is, glass is a tricky material to recycle. It is, however, easier and more convenient to reuse.

Cutting plastic use by 46% and glass by 29% (considering there are plenty of places that don't recycle it due to weight), is a pretty decent switch in this supply chain. Would definitely be great to see regional refilling facilities eliminate the need for a refill bottle in the long term. And for everyone trolling about a 100% reduction in materials if you don't buy it, y'all realize that Axe and Old Spice sprays aren't technically necessary either, right? But you're not going to stop 100% of customers from buying them, so moving to refillable packaging is about as sustainable as it'll get for most people.

I bought a tiny perfume yeeears ago and it's still not empty. Bulk systems hardly work for this.

Hmm this doesn't quite work out economically. You still need to buy the refill - which I guess during the cost of living crisis - is 2x the price of the normal bottle. Then you need to throw away the refill bottle and buy another refill for 2x the amount of your original bottle. Then once refilled will only have one re-fill left over.. before you need to chuck that away and buy another refill bottle for 2x the price.
Just buy separate bottles and recycle and at specific recycling points. Or just don't buy it lol xD
Purchasing separate bottles and recycling them is not as environmentally sustainable as buying a bigger refill bottle hence why companies are moving towards the refilling system. Refilling products is common in the Japanese market and I’ve always thought it was a smart idea. Most people repurchase the same products over and over.

Ok, so you’re basically marketing what used to be ‘refill your portable fragrance pot on the go’ as something monumental and problem-solving? Producing more plastic to refill a portable container doesn’t really solve any issues. Instead, you could sell larger bottles at more affordable price. The true cost of this fragrance is hardly few dollars. Count the mass-production you create to get your product to absolutely every single store in the World and making sure they have enough stock. There’s going to be a lot of excess plastic laying around. And it’s not like you care - the markup price is so high that you can even hire Hermione Watson for the ad.

@Rizwana I became vegan and i definitely lost a ton of weight at first because you need to eat more volume of vegan food to get your calories in. After a year or so I got back to my normal weight though.
I have to admit I had a shock reaction to seeing this. I too have much concern about her health. I have a family member that suffers from an eating disorder and it is a constant struggle for her. While I am not saying this is Emma's issue, the family member I speak of is a big fan of Emma's and I worry about that. I know Emma wouldn't want to knowingly support such a thing. Even if it's a diet change, the people around her could easily help her adjust to it while still maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I really hope she finds the help and supports she needs to be her best self and her best healthy self. My comments come from a place of deep respect for Emma as a person. Life is hard enough so throwing in everything Emma juggles, it's enough to make my head spin. Stay grounded little one, you are beautifully and wonderfully made. You must take care of your body and mind for this life journey.

A good perfume usually lasts for long time, with a refiler for 2 bottles means 3 bottles. For me this could last around 4 years. So I think is good idea. (I usually have 2 to 3 perfumes I use as many people I know)
Why would you buy it in the first place? If your goal is to be as ecological as posible wouldn't it be better just not to buy?

I KNOW RIGHT. I mean, its a perfume. the box and bottle fit in one hand. for the amount of units Prada expects to sell to their target audience, I expect the 28% less plastic or whatever is being offset by the carbon footprint to make this comercial.
its hard to make a product sustainable, if you dont make it accessible. so I can understand the logic behind providing refillable bottles vs refill stations. although its a lovely idea. not everyone has access to a Prada outlet to take an empty into. I purchased the 50 ml Prada Paradoxe and 50 ml Prada Paradoxe Intense, along with the 100 ml refill bottles of each, was able to refill twice for less than the price of one individual 50 ml. so excited to see that a year later, more and more fragrances are starting to offer a refill bottle. if refill stations could be made available all over the world, I would absolutely use them but until then...love love love the idea of not having to throw away the gorgeous glass bottle and purchase new one's.

Facial Expressions Say Alot About Someone Happiness. You can tell some people really feel the world is carried on their shoulders. Wanting to change the world, where you feel like no one gets the message.
There needs to be a fragrance frachise, that does not sell refill bottles, just the purfume/aftershave bottle. Then in the back of the shop, have large plastic containers that store all different types of fragrances, each one big enough to refill maybe 1000 bottles of each aftershave or perfume.. You could save 100% Glass, 100% Plastic, 100% Cardboard etc.. The customer just takes their empty bottle to be refilled by the fragrances shop...

It would work well for any consumer products. How about empty drinks bottles also? A shop could create a collection scheme where people can take their empty drinks bottles to be recycled with some form of incentive or reward for recycling their waste. Maybe a discount on their drink for using the shop to recycle their bottles, or even giving a free drink for recycling a good number of empty bottles..

Okay this is better than most of those refillable soap bottles because the refill packs only fill up one bottle (almost sometimes) and are themselves are not recyclable.

It sounds really beautiful I’ve tried a sample of that perfume in a Boots magazine and it is a gorgeous lovely fragrance cent when it’s on offer. I’ll probably buy some on a sale for Christmas or something as I’m on a bit of a tight budget you see and I put my bills, and of course other essentials for life first, but yes, hopefully for Christmas on my birthday or something nice 🥰💯☺️👍🏻❤️🫶🏻❤️

the refills are still single use packaging. so now instead of having just the bottle, you have the bottle and the refills filling up the world with garbage. why do you need to refill the bottle? how pretentious and hypocritical is it that you want to have your perfume in a nice pretty bottle yet you want to pretend like you care about the environment. you spend time filling the bottle from refills when the refills could just be the bottle. wouldnt it make more sense that the refills are the bottle and all you do is swap the spray cap over. or even better, to eliminate the need for refill packaging you could take your bottle to a shop to be refilled. or even better, dont have perfume at all. what pretentious hypocrisy is it that you want to pretend that you care for the environment, yet you want to indulge in unnecessary consumerism?

In my country the refill bottle is twice cheaper than a normal bottle, I could just buy the refill and put the parfume in an old bottle, I just want to smell good not to have a fancy bottle.
