Ooh I love to hear cats enjoying their brushing sessions. It's amazing how even the most aggressive cats can be turned to enjoying a brush with continuous handling. You are lucky to have an adorable Pearl pusscat who enjoys it.
@@livestotravel7589 thank you Ill find another fur baby to love and spoil when I'm ready. Maybe an adult shelter cat to give a good home for their remaining years.
Sorry to hear that...I hope u find the best one.. If you are a Norwegian CAT🐈 lover, pls subscribe ruclips.net/channel/UC7ladJnftVIpWmIfCdqNW4g Have a good day :)
Yes you get this with a lot of cats. It is just a case of persevering with them, grooming on a regular basis. And obviously not encouraging her to eat the comb! Just remain calm and continue with the groom. Good luck.
My Norwegian forest cat would hate this. When we take him to the vet or any place that isn’t home, he becomes stressed and sometimes hyperventilates. He is also shy and needs a long time to warm up to new people, and that’s how he has always been since we got him. He is really adorable and loves cuttles with people he knows though. One of our neighbors has been greeting him every time he sees him, and talked to him for a few months now and he used to run away and hide from him, but now he runs up to him and even lets him rub his belly.
Aww they are all so individual with their characters. I have had many owners bring their cats to me after being sent away from the vets with totally stressed out fur babies that are hyperventilating and the vets are really concerned about them. It is so scary for owners to witness their cats in this state. However, after a few minutes of settling down and very calmly talking with them, and handling them, the owners are surprised as to their cats complete u turn in reaction. I also have been trained in animal reiki and healing so use these techniques before beginning any grooming with nervous cats. I also have cats that are prone to fitting if stressed at the vets, and again, we manage to groom them. It is always a case of being in a very calm environment with slow movements, calm voice, and watching the cats reactions. The whole reason I began cat grooming was to prevent cats having to either be put under anaesthetic to be groomed at the vets or to prevent them getting totally stressed when having to be groomed. Being groomed should be enjoyable for cats and owners alike and not something to be stressed about. It is a beautiful thing to be able to help pusscats who are in this position. I am so glad your fur baby is beginning to trust your neighbour - that is an absolute major step forward in offering a belly to be tickled. That is the ultimate trust position for any cat. Well done neighbour!
Ha ha ha, I expect there will be many of my clients will agree with you! Awww - no tail - but that doesn't matter - that makes him super special. My last cat - Bumble was born with half a tail with a huge bump at the end of it, but we loved him all the same!
Beautiful cat! I used to have one as a rescue. Interesting how you groom one. My technique was to use a curry brush in the bath, give the cat a good scrub, then blow the fur out and then comb out the rest. Very laborious. The cat is hissing because of the static cling in the fur. Its annoying him. I would recommend a bit of leave in conditioner like BioSilk or wet your hand slightly and rub over the fur to prevent that flyaway hair and static. Then use a poodle comb, followed by a cat wire brush, and the Furminator at the end.
Hiya and thanks for your share. Not sure you noticed, but there was a spray on the table that I always use whilst grooming - I forgot to mention it in my video. I use an oatmeal leave in conditioner.
Hi Helen, you can try the detangler but I cannot recommend enough to use the moulting comb from the very beginning followed by the zoom groom. That way, your fur baby will get used to the routine. All links are underneath each video to the products I recommend. I bet you can't waiti to pick your new fur baby up! Exciting times!
Love your videos! Im going to adopt a pair of Norgie soon. Could you recommend somewhere I could buy leather hand sleeves? Like the one you were wearing in this video. Many thanks!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the pusscats getting groomed on my channel. As for my arm protectors, I had to get them made to measure from a company in America. They are called Arm Chaps. There are some gardening places online where you may also find something similar. Good luck.
When you start early with grooming and brushing, every time a bit and regulary so that they know or even enjoy it. you dont need chaps. I had 3 Norgies over the years. They were the most adorable cats!😁
@@JaneDoe-ge5di I see ^ ^ I'll keep a mommy Norgie and her baby daughter very soon, happy and keen to know everything about Norgies and how to take good care of them.
This can be tricky if your cat is not keen on being touched on the tummy area. So basically you groom with the metal comb as you would on the body. Little by little. You can either roll your cat over onto its side, or you can ask someone to hold them up and stand them up on their hind legs whilst you comb the tummy as you need two hands free to get to the root of the hair. I will probably do a video on this soon, so please keep an eye out.
My 20 year old BFF Norwegian forest cat Witty would absolutely annihilate you, even in her old age. & she doesn’t even have claws (which I don’t agree with as I think declawing is cruel but my folks did it for safety reasons when I was just a little kid) my witty would go absolutely ham on groomers. Nobody wanted to groom her & those who did almost never finished their cuts. 😽 she had such a temperament problem tht as a kitten her breeders couldn’t get rid of her, so they were trying to either give an $800 cat away for free if you could catch her or she’d go to the shelter & probably b euthanized. 20 years later she’s quite spry, still being sassy as hell 😻😼 I wouldn’t want her any other way!
What a fantastic age your forest cat has reached. I love to hear about the older cats still having some feistiness in them. It shows they have spirit for life still.
