  • FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS12) - The Florida Panthers and their fans came together despite the rain on Sunday for a party 30 years in the making.
It’s been six days of celebration since the Panthers capped off their first-ever Stanley Cup victory with a 2-1 game seven win over the Edmonton Oilers, but Sunday was the peak of celebration along A1A in Fort Lauderdale, with the long-awaited Stanley Cup parade.
Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky stated to AP News, “I never thought this many people would come out to support us. For us to share this moment with the fans, it’s unbelievable.”
Our Panthers heroes waved at thousands of fans from the top of double-decker buses, leading to a huge onstage rally that was extremely entertaining and well worth the wait the Panthers fans had to endure after taking a 3-0 Stanley Cup Final lead before winning the Cup in seven games.
"When you get that trophy over your head, it’s a beautiful feeling. And it’s the pinnacle of hockey. It’s everything you could possibly imagine,” defenseman Aaron Ekblad said to AP News.
