    I can't imagine all of the work that goes into the production of this video. You first write the tabs, then practice the tune on multiple whistles, then set your background scene, and finally record the music. And you repeat the process every week. That is a lot of work. All I can say is, "Thank you."

      Thank you!!! :) so glad to know it's appreciated. Yeah, haha, it's quite a lot of work, but if it helps people enjoy playing whistle I'm always happy to do it! x

    Hello Stephanie! I just purchased a Low C whistle from Chris Wall just like the one in this video. I am really glad I did. There are a lot of good things about it. Have you ever considered doing a review for that whistle? I never even knew about it at all. You seemed to get along with it fairly well and I thought I would roll the dice on ebay. I think there might be some interest.

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle  5 лет назад

      Yes, I plan to review my Chris Wall whistles, though I haven't used my low C enough yet for a solid opinion on it. It's a little big for me at present but I'm getting used to our. I've ordered a few others from him, so waiting for those to arrive before I get stuck in with a review.

    That's not a low C whistle - that's quite clearly a church organ pipe you've acquired! ;-)
    Sounds very nice though and I'm quite envious of your piper's grip!

    Greeting from France,
    Actually the orginal version is in Cm so it "should" be played with the Bb whistle and the fingering u give seem very much more difficult to play because you start on the fifth position of the whistle instead of the second (with the Cm tune with the Bb whistle it would be : X X X X X 0 instead of the X X 0 0 0 0 ) with your fingering.
    And the way u finish at the first musical sentence (the two last position of the second line of your diagram) are actually "wrong", even if it works, it's a way u interpet it.
    I think it's probably the same thing for the full last line of ur diagram but I can't get the exact point where u differ.
    Still a nice job, and diagram are easier to understand than a partition, but it doesn't write the duration of the note so it create another difficulty but I guess pedagogy is always about choices.

    Great video and a personal favourite, many thumbs up for the pick :)
    Theory alert: if you aren't a theory geek feel free to skip the rest of this comment ;)
    Looking at the tune, this piece looks like it is probably in C-minor, but could also be in C-Dorian (the only difference is that minor would have an Ab, but this tune doesn't have any As so could be either). Without half-holing a whistle is generally capable of playing in two keys (more specifically 2 major keys and their associated modes), and inversely each mode can generally be played on 2 keys of whistle. The ambiguity about whether this is in minor or dorian means there are 3 possibilities to play without half-holing here: F, Bb and Eb.
    With this in mind, I'm going to transpose the TAB and try this on my Bb whistle tonight when I get home :) (I don't have an Eb to try it on)

    • @xchewtoyx
      @xchewtoyx 6 лет назад

      Actually, there is an Ab in bar 11. should have paid more attention to reading through to the end of the tab before posting...

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle  6 лет назад

      xchewtoyx I imagine there are loads more ways to play, this was just what I found on the key whistles I had to hand 🤣

    • @xchewtoyx
      @xchewtoyx 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, the main thing is to do whatever works for you. I loved the video on motivation you did a while back and totally agree with your comments about theory there. I find it fun, but I know it puts off a lot of people, so go ahead and ignore it if that helps you keep your motivation :)
      I tend to have an analytical approach so I jump in with looking at what key it is in, and which key of whistle is the best match - but essentially if you have good half-holing technique you can pretty much play any piece on any whistle :)
      Another part of my motivation is that my F whistle is a bit small for my sausage fingers and makes my ears bleed in the second octave, so moving it to Bb is a double win as it pitches it down as well as making the fingering simpler ;)

    I'm new to the penny whistle and I don't know what the + mark on some of the notes mean could someone please explain?

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle  5 лет назад

      Of course :) it just means you need to blow harder and play higher notes :) your tin whistle plays low and high notes, depending on how hard you blow. When you see a + sign, blow harder.
      Check out my beginners video for getting started, this might help clear up a few basics: ruclips.net/video/g2PNC49fyMI/видео.html
      Also, try some of my tutorials to get started, (you'll find a 'Tin Whistle Tutorials' playlist on my channel) they may be easier to follow than the play-along tabs :)
      Good Luck! If you have any questions, just ask. x

      Please help as you sound so beautiful

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle  5 лет назад

      James De'cort it depends what you want to do.
      If you just want to play a tune on your whistle (on its own, without a backing track or playing along with me,) then you can use the finger tabs I post here on a different key of whistle and you'll simply play a transposed version of the tune.
      If you want to play with me you'd have to work out where to find the same notes on a different key whistle, but you'd likely have to play a lot of half holes to get the same notes. In this case you'd need to follow the letters underneath and ignore the tabs.
      I have a chart that shows how to play the different notes on different whistles. I'll send a link for you later 😊

    Stephanie, It's so good to see you in a playful summery mood... And did I hear you say sexy people... Ain't no sexy people round here... You are the sexy one! Those copper pipes you've been playing sound pretty good, even the monster pluming job. I'm not surprised cause you always make everything sound and look so beautiful. Others have commented about how hard you work for us all... That's something I've known for a long time now. I hope that you will always work at a level that you are comfortable with and not at the level we or they think you should. I'm not an expert on RUclipsrs, but it seems to me that you are the most prolific video music producer on here. It seems to me that one or two videos a month would be plenty for anyone to watch and certainly enough to keep you busy producing. Anyway, as long as you are comfortable and happy making so many videos I'll be happy watching... Thank you for all that you do! And I love you!

      Burt Eastwood haha, I'll admit, sometimes it's too much on top of everything else, but I enjoy it more than my job so I'll stick at it for now 🤣 haha. Besides, the nice comments, likes, support and appreciation make it all worthwhile. I'm used to making anything up to 10 videos a day for work, so it's not like it's anything new for me really.

    There are NO half-holes in this tune. I play this theme and other Elder Scrolls music all the time and these demonstrations are way off. There is no need to alter the tabs for different keyed whistles--the tabs are the same regardless of the whistle's key.
    I love your channel, CutiePie, but this particular video was like scraping my nails across a chalkboard. The version played in F was the closest, but these were all wrong.
