    Fantastic video! Thank you for the very well-explained solutions. Please do more videos for tunnel geotechnic.

    What a great tutorial, I have been a Plaxis user since it looked way different and still come back to videos like this to refresh my knowledge.

      whats the diffrence if u do the lining installation phase directly after initial phase and do a initial phase then TBM plate phase then lining

    If i am modelling a buried flexible conduit using tunnel option do i need to add the line contraction? Plz do answer.

    Should we not apply primary and secondary grouting loads on lining?

    Wonderful tutorial. May I ask a quick question that can Plaxis 2d allocate a nonuniform contraction of tunnel profile? It seems the convergence model of tunnel is uniform contraction in your video.

    I exactly do the same but I get the message "The calculations of the following phases failed: Phase_1". Can you explain why this is?

    it was very useful. i'm doing my project in tunnel surface settlements in PLAXIS 3D. Can i repeat this same procedure for 3d too??

      Thank you! It is a similar approach but you have to take account of boundary conditions and make sure the model space is big enough. There's also some more nuances with the construction staging and you'd probably want to consider the TBM face pressure in some way as this will be main cause for settlement, you wouldn't use the line contraction to simulate volume loss. I can put together a video to help explain!

      @@civil-engineering-ai Okay. Please upload when you get time. Because, I'm lacking support in Modeling of tunnels and in calculating Lining pressure . It will be very much helpfull for me. Thanks

    Thank you very much for the video. Does Plaxis 2d perform transient groundwater flow model?

      It does, that's a more advanced feature. I could put together a video on that too.

    Sir how do we calculate moment of inertia of circular tunnel lining for calculating flexibility ratio

    • @civil-engineering-ai
      @civil-engineering-ai  Год назад

      You can calculate the second moment of area of the outer diameter circle with (pi/4)*r^4 and subtract the moment of intertia for the inner circle. You then need to adjust the moment of inertia based on the number of segments in the lining using the equation of page 2 of this report jme.shahroodut.ac.ir/article_573_094c643afafcb078fe744f4fc8eee77a.pdf

    Hello
    I am trying to model the tunnel excavation using the same steps as in this video in cohesionless soil with drained condition and phreatic analysis. But I am getting a huge heave or upward movement of soil in tunnel excavation and lining phase, which is not practical. Can you please help me out with this problem?

      Sure thing, I've created some more covering bearing capacity, pile design, excavation design. Perhaps you'd be interested to check them out on my profile :)
