Regarding hill start, is it common for the throttle to be intermittent? I returned another e-bike because the throttle engagement is inconsistent & I quickly slide back especially when I’m carrying load( my toddler). Very dangerous & if and when the motor engages, the bike wheelies as the chairs seat is behind the rear axel. I was thinking of buying the aventon assuming it wouldn’t have the problem but I see you struggling with the same problem. It doesn’t help that the motor doesn’t engage when you have the brakes on, so you have to release the brakes in the hill and hope that the motor kicks in asap.
even though the frame looks quite solid but the rear rack with its seat seems to be way thinner - will it endure extra passengers 1 adult + toddler of their total weight about 150lbs?
Nice to get a mechanic’s perspective on bike design.

Great review, thanks!

2 kids it definitely can fit, but not 2 teenagers.
