Too be honest I dont think the dream sequence was cringy or forced, and your simply misunderstanding Camila's character. Luz is Camila's entire world, it's not that the world was against luz, or that her actions were right. Its just that Luz is her only child, the last part of her late husband. Hence she says "her dad taught her that one", because luz reminds her so much of manny. So viewing that part of luz (her creativity/general weirdness) as wrong is impossible for camila. Camila is going through greif as well, we see plenty of unopend boxes of manny's stuff throughout, nothing has been unpacked yet and it's all stuck in time. So of course camila was hesitant to send luz to camp, and it's why bullies, other parents, the guidance counselor, were all put in a negative light. Not because they're evil but because their disaproving of luz, camila's child, the one person in her family she has left to love. Camila is going through greif too, the feelings displayed throughout the dream sequence are cringy or awful. They're a good point of view into what has influenced Camila's decisions, and the care she has for her daughter.
I honestly don't understand why Luz blames herself so much for helping Philip find the Collector. I'm 100% sure that Belos would have found him anyway, Luz just changed the circumstances of how it happened.

She's a kind hearted girl who descovered she just assisted a mass murderer with his plan. What's hard to understand?
