United Airlines is making headlines after videos have surfaced showing a man being forcefully dragged off of a flight after refusing to deplane after being asked by officials. Four passengers in total were asked to leave the flight in order to make room for four airline employees and while the other three passengers exited, the man shown in the video did not. He declined to leave explaining that he was a doctor and had patients to tend to in the morning. After the manager insisted that the man must deplane, the customer still refused. After the situation escalated, police officers then boarded and proceeded to drag the man off the plane.
The video has been shared numerous times on social media which has led to many celebs speaking out on Twitter. Ava Duvernay was appalled saying QUOTE - “This could be me or you next time. Shame on @United who broke customer trust + instigated this. Shame on the airport cops. Cowardly assault.” Zendaya wrpte - “I am appalled and absolutely disgusted…this is unacceptable.” Kumail Nanjiani said - “So @united sucks. But the Chicago police who dragged the man off the flight are also monsters. Police using unnecessary force, again.” Joss Whedon tweeted - “Getting on a United flight this morning. Excited to, I don't know... stay on?” Chrissy Teigen wrote - “cannot wait to use ‘i will re-accommodate your ass’ in my next fight.” Whitney Cummings said - “I feel like Pepsi and United are pulling from the same employment agencies.” Jeffrey Wright poked fun at their slogan tweeting - “United. Fly the Friendly Skies. Friendly...like this boot on your throat.” But definitely the most ironic was what Nick Nicotera pointed out about his United app update. When updating the app it says “supports new drag and drop feature” below the united icon but in this case, it applies to something a bit more literal. Nick tweeted - “Bad timing on your app update, @united.”
Jimmy Kimmel made a spoof of the incident with a fake United promo video called “United Airlines. F You.” Check it out:

Lord I hope they get sued. By that doctor. By the other passengers, by their own staff for having to enforce such stupid policies. I hope everyone keeps talking about this for a year. I hope their share prices drop. In this case I understand the seat was wanted for staff, but they routinely sell more seats then they have- and then drag a legitimate customer off the plane??!!!! It's organised, institutional greed. That Doctor got put through such a humiliating experience- why should he have to give up his seat so they can keep up with their idiotic greedy practices. I really hope he sues.

My friend is a flight attendant for a different airline and when she wants to fly as a passenger, she has to wait until after check in time has ended to see if there are any spare seats available, and I just think that makes more sense!

A 69 year old doctor was violently assaulted to the point of bleeding. He looked absolutely shocked and devastated. Shame on United. There were two alternative routes they could have taken.
    1) Raise the incentive until someone volunteers to give up their seat. What's a couple thousand compared to the 800 MILLION (and counting) they're currently losing with their stock. Add that to the money that will come from the lawsuit and it will be even more financial loss.
    2) Get a car service or get those employees on the next flight out. Again, this would have been a better alternative because PAYING CUSTOMERS COME FIRST.
People need to stop being slaves to corporations. Businesses will not operate or survive without paying customers. United needs to get their shit together and STOP OVERBOOKING FLIGHTS. That happens on a regular basis. Their go to cannot be asking paying customers who are already seated to voluntarily give up their seat without a decent incentive for the incovenience. These people have lives. That poor man didn't do anything to warrant such a violent assault.
United keeps digging their own grave. It took the CEO, Oscar, 3 times to publicly make a statement and finally utter the words, "I'm sorry. We will fix this." Their first tactic was to try and slander Mr. Dao and bring up his past which is irrelevant to the matter at hand. Talk about desperate. I hope that he recovers mentally and physically and sues for as much as he possibly can.

@ExplicitLow. Very well said. Yes, United is losing a shit load of $ millions, plus the lawsuit's $ millions, plus the other $ millions in loss future revenues. In all I bet they will loose more than a $ billion. I feel bad for all the air crews that will loose their jobs too. If United was any smart, they would have found another way to accommodate their employee who needed this poor (soon to be rich) guy's seat.

That was assault, on a senior citizen/ who absolutely needed priority seating due to his status as a doctor- and fact he stated patients were depending on his care the next day/ so United not ONLY harmed this man/ but put ALL OF HIS PATIENTS at risk TOO. They deserve to have the PANTS SUED OFF THEM! This overbooking policy needs to be outlawed. The cops charged for assault on a senior. They should be charged with some sort of criminal negligence against the PATIENTS who needed their doctor! I'd claim that if I was in the court.... I have this penchant for debate and justice...Maybe I do need to see about going back to school...for law...so I can get paid to argue... Hmmmmmmmm ugh. SO. MUCH. MONEY 🤔😩

    • @bodybalancer
      @bodybalancer 7 лет назад +1

Or not negligence but endangerment- they endangered the patients by preventing the doctor from flying. The hospital where he was needed should join the suit- like- United detained one of their employees and surely caused a problem for them having to find a replacement at the last minute and what all it cost everyone on that end.

    1. This man had a valid contract for conveyance: he had no obligation to volunteer to leave. 2. The policemen who brutalized this passenger are guilty of felony crimes of assault under the color of authority and causing injury during commission of a crime, and several misdemeanors, including, without limitation, disturbing the peace, because they interjected themselves into a civil dispute where no crimes were being committed until they committed crimes themselves. 3. All UA employees who aided and abetted this crime, including, without limitation, those that requested the policemen to eject the victim from the aircraft, should be codefendants in the trial of these thugs, as aiders and abettors. 4. The flight captain is likewise an aider and abettor if he was informed about the assault on the passenger and did not prevent it. 5. The CEO Oscar Munoz and all corporate officers who did not fire the employees immediately after being informed about this crime, and did not cause charges to be pressed against the police thugs and the suspect employees, are guilty of being accessories after the fact. Criminal charges should be filed against them. The victim has standing to do that. 6. The CEO showed himself to be incompetent, untrustworthy and unable to provide the necessary leadership in a crisis. His reluctant insincere regrets came only after the storm of global outrage over the crimes United Airlines committed against an innocent passenger. Before then he blamed the victim, praised the culprits and called this egregious assault a ‘re-accommodation’. This abject man needs to be fired without severance pay together with all the culprit employees. 7. I and my staff will share our opinion about the civil and criminal aspects of this case with civil and criminal attorneys the victim will retain. We shall do so without compensation. 8. By brutalizing the passenger United Airlines showed itself to be an aberrant fascist organization staffed with hitlerite sociopaths. My staff and I will never fly with United Airlines again. We will boycott them no matter what inconvenience this may cause us. United Airlines is an un-American organization.

United Airlines is the worst. I will NEVER fly their airline again. Four months ago I flew united and was attacked by a drunk passenger while exiting the plane in front of my young children. He knocked me over and punched me in the chest. Apparently he felt more important than all the other passengers and wanted to push people aside to get off the plane quicker. United didn't care or provide assistance. Customer then left the the plane went had more drinks and was allowed to board another United flight.
I also noticed an empty soda can and other trash from previous passengers left in the seat pocket and under the seat. Terrible airline.

I was on a United flight were a flight attendant was so abusive to a passenger I asked to be let out of the plane after the door was "supposedly" closed. Other passengers left, as well as the coupe being abused by the flight attendant. The passengers around the area of the incident were vocal about it but that flight attendant was not going to listen. I personally try not not fly United because that was not the first time I had observed unprofessional/unfriendly communication with passengers. The employees need training in customer service, how to relate to people, how to be firm without being rude. Maybe the employee behavior is a reflection of the company's overall environment.
BTW, I was told in a very unfriendly way that since I had left the flight on my own I would have to make new reservations and pay for it. I replied with a smile that I gladly would do so with another airline. This was several years ago and thankfully I have not had to use United again.

There is a CEO who was booted out of his 1st Class seat (and he paid $1000 one-way on top of his fare to return earlier) and numerous pets deaths on or because United incompetence. To make things worse, the way United handle ALL their cases is like: We are sorry about what (f*cking) happened to you but unfortunately there is NOTHING we can do about it. "Stand Your Ground" seems to be the airline motto.

I felt truly sorry for three officers, they were only carring out their duty, meanwhile American is in the troubles times with terrors and leaking airports security, so if anyone who's not following the order, American will fall in the chaotic... This doctor was NOT self-respectful, he was "disrupt the order" he was so annoying, he was so noisy, he was very discounteous and he was running inside the plane like little boy, he was NOT acting a doctor, he' was screaming like a pig in pig-slaughterhouse (like being tortured). Every business has the right to sever everyone. The police have asked him very nicely "please leave the plane, because he be choose" with a offer free next fly and $800.00, meanwhile 3 other people already leaving the plane after they been chose to leave. But he wanted to make a lawsuit, even the police didn't touch him yet. I don't know exactly how many times police already asked him to leave. But he is very obstnate and remain motionless sitting three, that the reason the police pull him out (there was no beating). He might bump himself in the arm of the chair right there or wanted to hit himself in something to make a easy lawsuit. My only hope is everyone should open their eyes to see it, especially the jugde and the juries of this case will hear me.
He's a doctor, he owned business, so he already knew he has the right to sever everyone, he could also ask people leave his office if their kids running in his office, he could also call his client reschedule for another appointment, he could ask people leave his office if they were talking with each others or on the phone, he could also ask people leave his office if their kids running in his office, he must be a gentleman as a doctor. But he acted like a scum, he has scam all Medicare, Medi-cal and fake prescription drugs. He might be a Wolf cover by sheep's skin. I will always fly with United Airplane, but "BOYCOTT" all of advertises on CNN. By the way. Isn't it because he is a doctor, it means he is better than 3 others ? So I'm NOT stand by his side for one reason is police were not asking him to sacrifice his life to save American or go to war fight for American. This doctor is a scammer, scam all Medicare, Medi-cal and fake prescription drugs. So he is a SCUM and this problem is like a little rat, but people make it looks like Everest mountain. I hope the police will be back to working soon (we need more police)

Britney Nguyen The other three were voluntarily giving up their seats, he was going to but he then heard that the only other flight would be the day after, and he had to get to his patients ASAP. Also, it was very clear that the officers threw him against the armrest. He was showing dedication to his work and his patients by refusing to give up the seat. Would you rather voluntarily give up your seat for $800 and a free night in a hotel, knowing how people could DIE because of only caring for yourself or would you resist against their choice, fly to the destination and save them with no regrets? And besides, this was hilariously illegal. Paying customers should come first. Overbooking is theft, and theft is crime, so the officers were, undoubtedly supporting a crime.
