@murdaman xl Anyway, like I said, I first heard Too Short in 1983. Maybe 85 is the first time that U heard him. I don't know how old you are, or where you from, but I'm born and raised in East Oakland. And I have been a faithful fan of this dude since 1983. And btw, he actually had shit out before that.
@murdaman xl I'm 48 also my man. And I also got Don't Stop Rappin in 85. But that was when he got to 75 Girls. It's quite a bit of stuff from him and Freddy B years before that, trust me. And you are right, he's not a gangsta rapper. But he was still spittin that Town Shit, that East Oakland game infested street shit, that real shit, gangsta shit.
@murdaman xl I feel what you saying, but see the thing is, to us, Short was already a legend in Oakland and the Bay Area by the time his music reached other regions..
J Barrier G.Rap didn't drop his first single until 86 and his first album came out in 89. Schooly D dropped Psk in 85. Ice-T dropped 6 In the Morning as a single in 85. Just Ice dropped full albums in 86 & 87. Just Ice used to refer to himself as The Original Gangster of rap! They were ALL before G Rap.
Only Ice T talked about gangsta life, G Rap laid it down for the East Coast with that Mobsta gangsta shit. Schooly's flow was used by Ice T and NWA but in reality Schooly was more about the streets/guter than the life of a gangsta. His songs have more to do with smoking crack and shooting hookers than moving weight. Just Ice was the gangsta of rap but he was just talking about being hardcore. He didn't spit lyrics about moving weight and ducking feds.
Kool G Rap is the Godfather of gangster rap music.. he was the first.. no one rhymes like Kool G Rap the only one that came closer was big pon and he made his career because of Kool G Rap.. Schoolly D - PSK (1985) Ice-T - 6 in the Mornin' (1986) Boogie Down Productions - 9mm Goes Bang (1986) Beastie Boys - Paul Revere (1986) Eazy E - Boyz-n-the-Hood (1987) NWA - Straight Outta Compton (1988) Kool G Rap & DJ Polo - Road to the Riches (1989)
Nice interview with music rapper Kool G Rap. Ice T, Geto Boys, NWA was first gangster music rappers. I like Kool G Rap and DJ Polo, MC Ren of NWA, Ice Cube of NWA, Willie D of Geto Boys.
This man is literally more artistic than Michael Jackson. He has albums that are unmatched in and outside of HipHop. He's not only in the HipHop conversation but he and DJ POLO evolved the blues. They are the children of B.B King. *SCHOOLLY D* definitely inspired 'em.
