I Didn't like Freaking Winter cuz he betrayed Caesar, Told the Cornal where they were Hiding and Became a Donkey, I'm glad Caesar, Rocket, and Luca killed Winter for his betrayal
I love how as Caesar is walking through the crowd of his kind, battle worn and injured, you see a deep and complex sense of sadness and regret in his eyes and as sees the captured human soldiers his expression gradually changes from sadness to anger, then to a furious rage. Andy Serkis and the Weta team did an awesome job at capturing the nuances of his performance! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
These movies are so freaking good. The ape performances are virtually timeless. Andy Serkis did an excellent job as Caesar, his voice and emotions are awesome.
The acting in this scene by Serkis is brilliant. You can see Ceaser’s eyes tear up with frustration and sadness when he talks about Koba. His own brother he saved many years ago and taught him the value of life and peace, and is guilty he failed him due to what he became. Because of Koba, the war between humans and apes went from cold to hot, and Ceaser is blamed for it not knowing he didn’t want any of this but is forced to fight anyway to keep his tribe alive.
That's literally chimp behavior. The submissives of the pack reach their hand out and look away and the alpha strokes their palm to let them know what's what. It's not a religious allegory, it's just a good attention to detail.
I know it's just a story. But Caesar's transformation into a leader is organic, I wish we have at least one political figure like him the world would be so much better.
Fun Fact, the Red Donkey was in _Rise_ as the police chief in the helicopter who fired at Buck during the bridge scene; let's give a big hand to Ty Olsson! 👏
The replies to this don't seem to realise OP was talking about the actor playing both roles. Red Donkey is one of the apes, not a human character. The actor who played the helicopter pilot also did the voice and motion capture for the ape in this movie.
I love the way Caesar’s tone is when he says he killed Koba. He’s mostly threatening the soldier that called him an animal subtly and also saying “ you don’t know anything ” in voice of pain and frustration.
When you think about it, this is a better “prequel/apocalyptic” movie than anything The Terminator sequels have ever tried to do. All the terminator movies have tried to show John Conor as an adult in the future during battles with the machines but they never could capture that Terminator 2 opening like Planet of the Apes did on its own.
That actually wasn't Rocket. That was Spear. Rocket had actually been off with Blue Eyes searching for a new home for the apes. The two of them came back a little bit after this scene
@@swagymicswagger Same. Buck's death from Rise is what really bummed me out. Luca essentially replaced him in both Dawn and War, so I really didn't see a need in killing off Buck. He, aside from Rocket and Maurice, was Caesar's first friend
Caeser allowing the power plant to be restarted also allowed humans to communicate with other colonies. Unfortunately, they contacted the Omega first (the military seen here) maybe because they were closer, where as if they made contact with Omega's superiors first there could have been a peace. So it may possibly be Caeser's fault.
Yup it was always going to happen, there’s a highly intelligent clan of apes out there who could rival the human race for dominance on earth. Humans were always going to go to war with them
You... must fear! How long... you think woods.. can protect you? Humans.. destroy you... Their Colonel has all power... For them, he more than just human... He everything. He say... first *"Caesar die... than all of you... die."*
I know that this trilogy ended with Caesar's death and the Apes in a new land, but the story should continue with his surviving son Cornelius and the emerging more advances Ape society. I hope more good writers can do something to make another continuing trilogy of films.
Well, next year, we are getting exactly that. It's called Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and Cornelius is the main character. It's directed by Wes Ball, who also directed the Maze Runner Trilogy.
This scene also reminds me of The Batman (2022) where its POV style where Batman walks to the crime scene and all the cops were looking at him then I discovered both films were directed by Matt Reeves lol
Is this a show or something? I have never seen this man I know there’s a planet of the apes movie from like 30 years ago where the main dude travels into the future or something and the whole world is apes and they’re civilized/driving modern cars
@Josh Arrubla Even if the apes chose to live peacefully, the humans still would have attacked them sooner or later. After the apes displayed remarkable intelligence, the humans already see them as threats. the Humans vs Apes scenario was inevitable.
Caesar's speaking ability felt so earned.

Caesar thought that if the Colonel knew that they weren't savages, he would stop. However, he did not anticipate the Colonel being a savage himself.
Sadly they sent the wrong ape to escort the traitor outside
They already planted the seeds about the huge betrayal with this first talk. Look at Winter's shocked face after the "Donkey" ape gives his speech.
