    First story: husband and sister-in-law are both wrong and should stay out of the kitchen. Maybe the wofe can figure out a way to cook only for her children and let those two ruin their own food together. Second story: good for the father for sticking up for his son. Third story: Sean needs to keep his mind on his own family. Fourth story: the boyfriend was being nice to the grandmother and he was enjoying interacting with her. The girlfriend should be happy.

      You can put a pinch of sugar to balance tomato sauce a bit. But the thing is, ketchup, canned spaghetti and S. sauce have a lot sugar added, and we're just used to it.

    Story 3- You do not wake up someone trying to sleep when they are very tired. Morals and ethics aside, that person will likely wake up very disgruntled and irritable. I remember this happening to me once.
    At the time, I was going to college while living with my parents, but I had a fairly long commute (hour+ each way). To say I could get tired was an understatement. One day, I accidentally fell asleep in my room while doing some work, but my door was closed. Since I normally closed my door while studying/working, my dad thought nothing of knocking on the door to get me to do something. When I didn’t respond, he started banging a bit, which woke me up. I’m not sure why, but while in this state, I was extremely irritated and disgruntled, yelling over nothing and being unusually aggressive. My guess is that I was far more stressed than I realized since it was around the time of the finals. My mom figured out what was going on and was laughing at me, which did not help. Luckily, I still had enough restraint to not cause any damage, but it was a frightening experience for me in hindsight. Not just because I was so angry, but because I also had almost 0 inhibitions and control while like this, and wasn’t even able to process things properly.
    I had never experienced anything like my state at the time before or since then, so I can say with certainty that the case was unique (at least to me). At moments, I could see select things clearly, while at others, my entire vision was interrupted by whatever my brain came up with in a way that somewhat matched reality. It was quite dream-like. For example, in place of walls, I remember seeing giant crystals/giant crystal outcroppings. I remember some of them in particular had a pink color similar to rose gold, but fainter. Granted, they did not come together to form walls, but my brain showed/made them in my head as needed to guide me where I was supposed to go, whether there were walls to avoid or not. For whatever reason, I was said to be able to walk normally while stuck in this state. To this day, and until my death, I will remember this experience. I have no idea if others have had similar experiences or not, but I assume that that is what getting high/drunk feels like.
    Edit: Fixing some typos I just found.

      That was a really bad case of sleep deprivation, sounds like your dad caught you in the middle of REM sleep.
      There's a Star Trek: TNG episode (Night Terrors) that uses the lack of REM sleep to tell a horror story.

    I wonder if the husband was always messing with the food or if the sister got him in on it. Like maybe she has always been controlling like this do he sees it as normal. Now he only does this to his own wife sometimes but with the sister around she brings out the worst in him. And gets him to help her. I would kick her and her kid out. And tell my husband if he ducks with my food again I’ll never cook for him again. I’ll only cook enough for myself and my kids

      From the way the story was worded, it sounded like the husband didn't start doing it until the sister was doing it. As if she talked him into it as well. The OP started the story saying once the sister was there her food started getting tampered with as if it wasn't an issue before. I would just cook for the children and they can mess with their own plates as much as they wanted.

    In the first story, I’d start going in & screwing up the husband’s food. I’d also send the SIL & the husband out for random errands/ingredients while I’m cooking so that they can’t mess up my cooking. If it continues, they both need to go. Tell the husband, your sister doesn’t respect my kitchen, she needs to leave. If he starts to argue, then you say ok I want a divorce too. Now both of you leave. Your choice, either just your sister leaves or both of you do & we divorce. Decide now. Either way both of you are staying out of my kitchen when I’m cooking.

      @@iamme25yago the screwing up the husband’s food is only to show him how it feels to spend a long time on something only to have it ruined by someone else. He needs to gain perspective on that. Otherwise he will continue to do it whenever he feels like it. It’s about disrespecting someone else’s time & work.

  • @MagnificentMaj

    First Story: It is HUGELY disrespectful to mess with someone’s food without their permission, ESPECIALLY in their own home! OP’s husband and sister are odd. I don’t get why they don’t just cook separately for themselves.
    Second Story: That lady is so… alarmingly disrespectful. Physical affection should NEVER be forced, ESPECIALLY with strangers. That kid doesn’t owe anyone anything with his body! Good on the dad for defending his son!
    Third Story: I don’t get why Sean cares so much about other peoples lives when it doesn’t affect him at all. He is such a rude host for waking his friends wife up and demanding him to cook for her. Though my parents also believe in gender roles, they don’t force it on me (I am a woman), and they would NEVER disrespect a guest like that, especially when they’re going through something as traumatic as recovering from a house fire.
    Fourth Story: I don’t think either person is TA. Probably just basic miscommunication.

    Story 3, as much as I'd never want sean in my life, it is his house.
    I'm kinda asuming they knew what they where getting into moving in.
    Again, I would not want to be there, I don't think his ideas are right. But they need to look for other accomondation if they can't oblige.
    Having them there is an inconvenience to sean and his family too, and by not cooking alone the one time the wife is out she's setting the wife up for misery to (now she can truly never take time off and she needs to cook for two families utill they moved out). It's bad communication nothing was said though.
    Reverse the roles and sean was living in ops house, refusing to cook or do anything? Siding with op then wouldnt be just about genderrolls, it would be about respecting op in their home, and realising the inconvenience being there is causing.
    As stuffy as I think sean is, this is the same and they knew his views moving in.
    It sounds like the first time shes had to cook alone too. I imagine seans wife has cooked alone to both families quite a few times though.
    I'm mainly sorry for the wife. How often does she get time out or get to hang with a friend into dinnertime? Now she prolly did because she thought someone else would pick up the slack. Imagine the earfull she'll get later. She's the true victim, getting pushed further under seans thumb.

    • @FaizatheTempest
      @FaizatheTempest 11 месяцев назад +14

      Nah, Sean can screw off. He should bot yell at someone else's wife to cook for him. He could have made himself some food but instead he's stuck in the 1950s. He needs to keep his nose out of other family's business and let them live how they want. And that's assuming he didn't force his wife into the role, though I have an inkling that he most likely did.

    • @ricebeansrockroll882
      @ricebeansrockroll882 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@FaizatheTempest they are litterly living in his house, so they are pretty smack in _his_ business.
      They are living there for their convenience, they could find somewhere else and inconvenience themselfs a bit.
      Also, re-listen to the story, Sean never screamed at anyone, the OP did.
      I don't have a drs salary, but I'd find somewhere else. OP won't because they can't be arsed.
      Rent isn't mentioned so I'm assuming they aren't paying that.
      Helping with chores if you are an adult mooching of family is normal (though I can't for the life of me understand why ops husband can't cook).
      Sean isn't right, but they litterly moved in with him because they are to lazy and stingy to find something else. And then expect him to stop being stuck in the 50s because it's an inconvenience to them, the freeloaders. Like nah.

    • @SilentlyCreative
      @SilentlyCreative 11 месяцев назад +12

      You're right. It is Sean house, but he's been harassing her for years. It's reasonable for anyone to get annoyed by that. Personally, I'm petty. If I were the OP, I would've had a similar reaction. But I would've cooked for Sean, but I would've made sure it tasted awful just to be spiteful. And if he continued asking me to cook for him, I would keep doing it. He's not her husband, and he's far too opinionated about how she chooses to live her life. She's a family guest and he has no right to treat her like a second wife, regardless of if shes staying for convince or not. I would never do that, and his audacity is extremely rude. Sean's wife signed up for it, his brothers did not, and he's had a stick up his butt about her not being "traditional" since the beginning. She did the logical thing to keep the peace, but he definitely crossed a boundary, waking her up just to ask her to cook for him. His behavior is controlling, and he's dehumanizing her, I do feel bad for Sean's wife. But just cause it's his house, doesn't make him less of a controlling butthole.

      @@SilentlyCreative you need to rewatch the clip, because we clearly are not talking about the same thing. First you say he was screaming when OP was and now you claim he was arrassing her for years when that was never mentioned, only mutually disagreeing and being low contact.

    • @SilentlyCreative
      @SilentlyCreative 11 месяцев назад +5

      @ricebeansrockroll882 I never said he screamed, pestering, side comments, underhanded ones to her husband count as harassment. It's a manipulative form of it, but it is harassment. You do not have to scream at someone to harass them. She stated he only stopped for the most part because she told her husband to tell him to and when her husband stopped being a stay at home dad when the kids reached school age, which does take years. Then, he said his brother finally "grew up," which is another underhanded comment. And even then, he still made the side comments at holidays and get togethers, which she chose to ignore. So yes, he harassed her for years, made her seem crazy for not being the "traditional wife." Trying to pressure her/her husband to follow his views, she tolerated it because she distanced herself not because it didn't bother her. It was blatant underhanded harassment.

    In the very first story, the wife's sister in law is just so very disrespectful. Is the sister in law trying to give the family high blood pressure or diabetes? The wife needs to kick her out for being so disrespectful like. If you don't like the food, then find something else to eat it's just plain and simple as that. In the second story, what's up with the wife's friend? Their son said no to the hug so she should've just understood that and let it go instead of continuing to put pressure on him for that hug. Honestly, the wife's friend sounds like a p*do. In the third story, the wife and her family should've left immediately and found somewhere else to stay because it is 2023 those days of women being the only ones cooking in the kitchen are so done and over with. Us men we are excellent chefs and cooks too, and even the kids can be in the kitchen too assisting us. Much love my dear sweet friend!! Have a great day!! Stay safe!!
