Seagulls are facinating to me. I never tried one. But I would love to. I have a simon and patrick that is made from basically the same materials, but for some reason seagulls tend to retain their value over time a bit better than s&ps. I guess seagull is technically godin's more "high end" brand, but there's a lot that many models of both brands have in common. They definatly provide pretty good value for the money. Especially considering it is made in canada. One line of guitars that is really facinating to me is the epiphone masterbilt series. It just seems like amazing value for the money, being an all solid wood guitar that is very nice for only around 1200 CAD new. But of course as you mentioned not many people will be willing to spend that kind of money on a guitar. I'm a bit biased as I already have an epiphone and I really like it a lot, despite the fact that it is not a high end model, but I just really like the sound. Have you every played any epiphone masterbilts like the j-45 masterbilt, and what are your thoughts on them?
I’ve never played the master series but this guitar had a great sound from the get go. The guitar I play now has an extremely good sound for the price. It’s a dangelico acoustic guitar.
I purchased one of these a year ago and couldn’t be happier with the investment. How can you beat Seagull? Quality is outstanding. Sound is marvellous. The only downside to me is the mounting of the battery on the inside of the body. It’s a pain to replace but it’s definitely not a showstopper. The purple at Godin know what they are doing and deliver on their vision to produce quality products in a sustainable way. Just can’t beat a Seagull.
@@DevanBishop I LOVE my Seagull Coastline but I cant give it better that 8 out of 10 in it's class because of the battery location situation. It chews through the 9 volts, and they fail with about 40% of power still remaining in the battery. Why do they make you wind all of the strings down to repalce the battery when the readily available little spring loaded battery doors work so well ? Even better, there are some very reliable USB rechargeables.I have a hard time picturing a bunch of Godin designers sitting around and agreeing that its a good idea to make their customers have to stick their whole arm into the soundhole to change the battery? What if it fails during a gig? Totally unacceptable design feature! C'mon Seagull get with the program! Other than that my whole family loves Godins and we all play them.
Hey Devon. Always like your reviews. I could listen to you play for hours. So. I am 60 with short fat fingers. I'm not fat just my fingers. I want to learn to play . Do you think a seagull with the 1.8 in nut would be a good beginner guitar for me. Washington state hasn't opened up yet so I can't go try one out right now. Was just hoping for your opinion. Thanks
Even with big fingers you should be able to do it with practice just look at Israel Kamakawiwoʻole! He can make a ukelele sing and he’s no small handed fellow! I would definitely recommend finding one to try before you buy but these guitars are awesome. Also classical guitars have very wide necks as well.
I'm only a year and half into my guitar journey and have mainly learned on small neck guitars, electric then Ibanez. There is a huge difference in the neck of my Ibanez and Seagull S6, but I got use to it fairly quickly. I also have short, fat fingers as you, so I understand. I can say this, after 3 weeks with the Seagull, the Ibanez has now become wall art. No comparison to the sound of the Seagull S6.
You really need to try guitars with standard nut width and a Seagull with a wider nut width side-by-side. It's easier to place your fingers on a string without fouling the strings on either side on a Seagull, which is good news for fat fingers, but making a chord like a 'cowboy' G chord for example is a slightly bigger stretch, which is not so good for short fingers. My guess is that you will be happiest with the wider nut of a Seagull, but there is no substitute for trying some guitars and comparing. Oh yes, and buy the guitar in the store that lets you try them, don't try them in a store and then go off and buy one on the Internet, that is a really dirty trick and it is causing good music stores to close and making it more and more difficult to try musical instruments and get good advice before you buy.
Hey Devon I like your reviews. I am thinking to get one of these guitar Seagull Coastline S6 Slim CW Q1T Electro Acoustic, Natural OR Seagull Coastline Momentum, Natural. I am intermediate guitar player and these days I don't find these guitar in LONDON guitar store I have to order online so which one do you recommend.
@@DevanBishop after seen your video I bought this guitar and I enjoying a lot playing this guitar now my guitar string goes flat and I pick Elixir phosphor bronze Light but sound is not same as before can you advise me what's the right strings for seagull coastline guitar. Many thanks
This guitar sells for about 700-800. Somewhere around there. Good question my friend! Subscribe and check our some of my guitar tips videos and let me know your thoughts!
Bought my first seagull tonight and fell in love with it man. I found a new chord and everything just sounded so right. All i can say is “hell yeah.”
I know the feeling 😆
I bought my Seagull S6 in 1991 and it still sounds great. I've never had any neck or action problems. Great build by Godin!
That’s awesome!
Thank you for this review! I am planning to buy one!
Awesome! They are great guitars!

Bought this exact model today, it'll ship out tomorrow and I'll have it in my hot hands in a few days. Excited!!!

I thought Seagull make wide nut guitars for the most part. So, I expect this one to be 50 mm, which is wide enough for most folks.

Nice review! Great sounding guitar!! ❤️ Sweet!
Thanks!
Just bought a Coastline Slim CW yesterday!! I got it on a deal too for used but MINT condition I love it so much
They are great! Thanks for checking out this video to!
I urge you to please make a similar review on a Seagull spruce top Coastline 12 string cutway
Would love to if I had one or knew where to get one! haha
I love Seagull, I just finally ordered my first one (well, used one off of Reverb) and I am so excited.
Awesome! They really are great guitars!
I need a tutorial on what you were playing in the beginning, I’m begging.
Alright I can drop some beginner songs to learn.
I appreciate this video!
How has it held up?
Still a great guitar!
How would you compare this to the Original S6? I've always had a fondness of the S6 even though it's a lower priced guitar.
I actually have not played the original but I know that I love this one. It’s about as smooth as anything I’ve played.
This was my first nice acoustic. Played it for 6+ years. Much prefer the coastline to the S6 and I love the S6

Can I ask, what are you inputting into the guitar with the jack plug?
Just a quarter inch cable into an interface by focusrite
So the story of your brother?
Oh yeah haven’t made that one haha
@@DevanBishop Come on Devan, we love stories...
