Elvis Presley never looked so dangerous and rebellious as on these "Stage Show" performances! He was so free spirited! A revolution in music was at hand!
Anyone who drones on about ''Elvis couldn't play guitar'' is ignorant. His rhythm is powerful and essential. He's hitting them strings HARD and the vocal mic is picking it up. I read he used a big ukelele pick here. On the first Dorsey appearance, he played bare handed. The difference in his power and confidence here and in the first Dorsey Bros. appearance is complete. Heartbreak Hotel is climbing the charts and he knows that he has set the wheel of destiny in motion. He slows down the tempo, commands the audience, and presents his vison/invention of the ''superstar''.
Yeah, it's great. But, the Dorsey band still adds to it, not as much as the 11 Feb show but they're still there. Plus, he has a different guitar. This one doesn't have "Elvis Presley" etched into it.
@@SkyKingofMaricopa Yep. That ''Elvis Presley'' with the embossed details was actually a leather ''cover'' that fitted over the D-28 to keep it from getting scratched up. It was a gift from Hank Snow Jr.! Just a little trivia for us Elvis fanatics! I love the piano dominated Money Honey off the first LP, but THIS string band version is THE best I've ever heard. The rhythm is more driving and powerful than anything the imagination can conceive of as issuing from a 4 piece string band (with the acoustic only being stage mic ed. I spent years studying the video (back in the days of DVD), but couldn't duplicate his chaotic attack (and I didn't have Scotty, Bill, and DJ behind me!).
@@meetontheledge1380 I heard of Hank Snow but not "Hank Snow, Jr." But, no matter. The piano on the LP you cite may have been done by "Shorty Long." I believe he can be heard on "One Sided Love Affair," a really good number contained in Elvis' first album entitled "Elvis Presley." Interesting observations you make about the band and the power of the microphones. How much rehearsal do you think went into that segment given Elvis' band still had to accommodate the Dorsey band? I ask because it always intrigues me to hear that while actors can relish rehearsals musicians oftentimes do not.
@@meetontheledge1380that was great information you shared. Thank you! I’ve been an obsessed fan after watching the Elvis movie and have a great time going down the Elvis rabbit hole. Can you point me in the right direction for more great Elvis stuff? I have a lot to learn and there’s sooooo much information that it’s hard to sort through.
I mean, the Milton Berle performance of ‘heartbreak hotel’ and the 68 Special disprove any notion that Presley couldn’t play guitar anyway. Presley could also play the piano and electric bass. He was a musician & a beast of a front man.
These videos are amazing! Its like watching Elvis literally inventing a new type of music and super stardom that never existed before. Like the Big Bang of music and fame.
I like his hair here and it’s unbelievable how talented he is!
I do, too. Luv how he curls his hair to disguise a high forehead.
The King of Rock 'n' Roll
nice sound
The Dorsey shows are brilliant untamed Elvis.
This has got to be the best live version of Heartbreak Hotel I've ever heard ❤
I agree! 😯
It is awesome, but the other version from the week before is somewhat better. Pure genius. But you can't go wrong.

Hotter than hell. I love young Elvis, sweet but also wild and sensual.
Fantastic d sound friend

This has to be the best version. Much better than the studio version. They capture the pure essence of early Rockabilly.

Elvis Presley And The Blue Moon Boys should have been recorded "live" in a nightclub in 1954~1956!
There are the '56 Vegas recordings (where because of the older age of the crowd, there are no screaming girls and one can hear the performance).
Best voice of Rock 👍
KING
Scotty Moore!🎸
С Скотти Муром мне Элвис больше нравится.Жаль, что их разлучил этот проклятый Паркер!
