I often watch Dave's Olympic race. It was so neat to watch him come back from so back in the pack to win it. I watched it then and was very proud of him.
I watched that race live on tv in Europe as a twelve year old and I remember it like yesterday. For us Europeans Dave Wottle personified the quintessential American trait: everything is possible and the sky is the limit.
David Wottle a class act and a gifted and natural talent. He was not even at 85% when he won the 800 meter final after an injury he sustained 6 weeks prior to the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany. (Former Professional & World Class Athlete) JJK
You were good enough to win 1500 metres in Munig. You left your finishing too late. That 800 m I remember perfectly well, I was watching it live on tv.
