My kitten, Juniper, recently turned 6 months. So far she has mastered sit, tall/pretty, is okayish with spin. I can have her sit for 20-ish seconds before she gives up now. We are working on lay down now. She has a short attention span right now but again, shes only 6 months old. Thanks for all the tips, its super cute to share a few tricks with friends.
I've got two furr babies. And for the first time someone else has said 'Cat dad' Instantly subscribed because this guy gets it! I will certainly be trying these out and will update:)
Very helpful. We just started and followed the tips and tricks and after a week we have mastered 3 tricks. Never thought our cat could be trained like this!
My cat doesn't need to be told to sit when feeding her. When she sees me getting her bowl, cleaning it, and serving it, she will automatically wait in loaf position.
I would love mine to be like this. Right now she tries to jump and bite and my leg and she meows like she’s gonna die. I feed her 4x daily. She’s just a kitten (3 months) but she’s my first cat so I’m hoping this is just kitten behavior but when she’s older I hope she doesn’t continue to climb and bite me - it’s a bit scary for me just imaging a fully grown cat biting me. Did your cat naturally go into loaf position or did u train her with clicker? My kitten meows like she’s never had a meal every time I go near the countertop.
I talk to of my cats who were scared of everything at first to sit stand up shake hands twirl in circles lay down and meow. Two weeks to teach them everything. You can train any domesticated animal. It’s just a matter of being consistent. I can’t believe in our time people still think the dogs are trainable and cats aren’t
My 20 weeks ragdoll learned his first trick, spin, in 1,5 weeks! We trained every second day on average I’d say and most of that was clicker charging. The actual spin took just 2 shorts sessions. I’m so proud of him and it is so much fun to see the progress! 😻 Thank you for this video!
My cat is almost 3 months old and, thanks to your videos, I thought him to sit. My goal is to teach him self-control with food, we're far from it, but we'll get there I hope. He had a compulsive obsession for food, even after feeding him, he would jump on the table and start eating ANYTHING that was available in his reach. He would meow obsessively, and we had to close him in another room in order for him to not "suffer". He was found on the street, near a car, he probably went inside the engine because he was dirty with car oil. Since I tought him to sit, he's learned the word NO, and he's become a lot more patient. Also, after feeding him, he no longer jumps immediately, sometimes he just sits and doesn't bother at all, I'm so happy about the progress we've done in just 2 weeks. So THANK YOU 1 MLN TIMES! Ciao from Italy 🐈
Don’t play with them with your hands and play with a toy. Or if you notice they feel like biting, redirect them to a toy they can chew on. When kittens are teething and they’re losing baby teeth and getting new adult teeth they’ll be teething, and they’ll feel like biting or chewing on something to help that pain. If you wonder where the baby teeth, chances are your kitten is eating them and thats normal too. We were just lucky to find a little bit of her baby teeth to keep.
Wow this was awesome! You're an incredible cat trainer. I'm getting a kitten tomorrow and will be implementing these techniques and training tools asap. Thank you. Thank you Albert! Your videos were helpful in deciding whether we wanted Bengal cats. ( we had Siamese cats for over 30 years!) We decided to get a brother and sister a month ago. The active , vocal, playful, sweet tempered cats have added so much joy to our home! Thank you for the wonderful videos of Mia. She is a sweet darling! Blessings Albert!
My cat she was very smart and easy to train. She would sit, lay down, stay, come, roll over all on hand commands. She did all of these tricks without treats or rewards other than me saying what a good girl she is. She would also fetch. When I was paralyzed from a car accident my cat if she heard a noise would run to the door and growl and guard my home. She would go for car rides in my car. I could take her on public transit with her harness and leash and she loved it. She would go for walks. Greet people at our door. The bond I had with my cat was simply amazing. I miss her dearly. ❤
Thank you so much for this video, my cat already knows how to sit and give a paw, but I could never get her to lie down. I will start to try and train her :)
An encouraging video for us cat owners. I'm happy that my Siamese and Norwegian Forest cat scratch on the posts, and semi-listen to me. We can all improve, however, including the owner.
This video helped me a lot, thank you! My cat is slowly learning how to sit, down, and even sit pretty. Although we still need to practice spin. Me and my princesse are a great team!
I taught my cats to sit, sit pretty, high five, shake, head bunt, and fetch. The male (both are from the same litter) caught on a little faster. The girl loves playing fetch. Lately she has been bringing me random things in the morning and leaving them by my bedroom door.
My bengal Koda is 14 weeks and I am excited to go on adventures with her. I taught her how to sit and stay in about 1 hour and I’m busy training her to sit on my shoulders I love ur channel
I'm glad to have found you and this channel, Mia is such a smart kitty! I've just gotten my British Shorthair Kitten about 3 weeks ago. After trying to train him to recognize his name, he now responds to his name 60% of the time by only turning his head to look at me T_T I am trying to teach him to 'sit' too, but it's been pretty difficult to do so as he will just climb on me to get the treat lol!
I love your relationship with beautiful Mia. Cats have a reputation that they don't listen ,not so. They need to be taught what you want from them. They will come when called, sit ,stay etc.
I taught my cat “kisses” and she puts her head up to get a his on the head. I think she knew what it meant for weeks before she finally decided to do it. She doesn’t always do it right away it at all. Guess it depends on her mood.
Took less than ten minutes for her to pick up the cue on sitting, even tried it without giving her a treat and she did as i ask! Thank you for making these videos theyre very nice. Im just lucky my kittys perceptive lol
Great suggestion! A quick answer, because I guess you need some help now and not in a few weeks... 1) Try having more than one litter box. 2) Keep them always clean (at least 1ce a day) 3) Make sure your cat knows where it is. 4) Make it accessible Once all of the above has been crossed off the list: - Whenever your cat uses it or stays on it, say "good boy/gir" or click. Then reward - If you see your cat doing their things elsewhere, pick them up and place them on the litter box. Click, then reward. - If there's some carpet or soft surface where they usually do it, take it and palce it where the litter box is. I hope this helps!
After watching this video my cat mastered the sit command perfectly within two days… 😊😊 Learned spin within 4days… Didn’t know cats could be so smart and intelligent ☺️…
I wonder at what age will they start being receptive to these kind of commands? Getting a Bengal kitten in 3 weeks! =D I really want to train her well to be relaxed and happy with traveling in the car and out and about + good manners indoors ^^
You can start training your kitty basic little tricks like sit and come or litter training as young as when they start to eat and drink normally. I started to teach my cat how to sit and how to come (and I taught him his name) when he was about 4-5 months old! Now he comes when I call him and when it’s treat time he’ll sit as soon as I hold a treat out fit him. Now I am teaching him how to shake.😊
So grateful to have found your awesome tutorials, thank you for teaching me how to make a huge dream come true. Our new fur child Cleese is picking it all up ridiculously fast and its all thanks to your awesome help. Thank you so much xox
I really value your perspective and it has helped me and my cat’s relationship tremendously. I look forward to your next video. Btw my kitty’s name is Shinobu but I also call her Punkinhead or Punkinbutt. Have a great day !
One night I was sad, so I decided I would teach my cat to sit. I did no research on the subject and improvised. My cat got the hang of it in 5 minutes! She'll only sit when there is no distraction and only if I'm the one asking her to😆 I was shooked by her intelligence tbh!
Hi Albert, I absolutely love your videos. Thanks so much for making them. We have a 6 month old male bangle named Miko. With your training techniques he now responds when called and follows to where we want him to go. Now working on sit command, he is definitely coming along and starts getting the point but keeps trying to grab it with paws. Any suggestions how to get him to stop swinging his paws?
My cat immediately goes into a sit position when I have treats so (before watching many videos) I taught her “Gimme paw” “Hop up” and “High five” hop up means to stand on back paws. How I started was with Gimme Paw I’d grab her paw and reward her, and I’d do that a few times not releasing her paw until she finished the treat. Then I’d raise the bar she would have to put her paw in my hand, at first I would meet her halfway and reward her but soon I wouldn’t reward her unless she put her paw fully in my hand. The other two were a similar story. I’m working on her mastery of these before teaching her others.
That is so cool. I have been working on my cats. So far sitting is automatic for two of them the third is progressing well. They no longer fly at me or the food bowl when it feeding time which is a plus. I have tried to get the other two to high five or fist bump using the cup method, but they lose interest very quickly I will definitely have to try your method. Is there any other tips or tricks you could provide?
Also I have trouble with one of the kittens paws. I often have to clip her nails while she is dozing off. I try and pet her paws while she is eating and it seems to help a little but she is still cautious of me holding her paws.
Just found this channel, your videos are really helpful! Im looking into getting a bengal cat very soon and am very excited to train it up. One question is, do they have to be of a certain age to be clicker trained this way or can it be done as kittens when first brought home?
I'm so glad! Kittens under 12weeks of age can get confused with clicker training if you go too fast too soon. I try to recommend "Come When Calles" and "Finger Targeting" as the 2 first tricks. For 2 reasons: 1) They are easy tricks that won't compete agains each other (your cat won't get confused) 2) They are going to create strong fundamentals to build the rest of the training upon. From 14/16 weeks you can start teaching the rest of the tricks, one at a time :) Best of luck!
Thee MOST IMPORTANT TRICK I needed for my 3 kittens is how I need them to trust me of holding them from a spot or place they find themselves stuck on stupid. The first encounter my kittens were high on the attic level of garage. They first freaked out when I got hold of them to put down so I made sure I did it slowly and even backing up a step for them to figure it out. So the very next time around they knew exactly why they calling for me for now, they stay still without the claws fringing and hairs standing up. Its so important to teach them this over the ones that make you smile for its more for overall safety between your cat and their IQ.
Absolutely! There's a trick you can use in those cases. Should Training! I have a video in the channel talking about that trick! You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/W5GSrT-bEGk/видео.html
Check Jackson Galaxy videos, there's one about it. As far as I understand is better if you don't let your cat play with your hands (but rather toys) and trim nails regularly. Maybe use the clicker to reinforce when you do what usually make the cat bite/scratch you and cat stays quiet instead(you teach a different reaction). Unless is things like touching their belly, then just don't do that haha. I hope it helps ^^
Thanks a lot for the insightful content! My cat already automatically sits down every time she sees me with cat food, I am not really sure how to teach her to sit in that case. I tried going straight to the lying down trick, but she does not seem to get my point. She thinks she has to tap my hand to get the treat. Thats probably because giving a fist bump was the first trick I taught her. She also knows finger pointing and sitting pretty. Any ideas on what to try?
For the down command, moving your fingers further will make your cat either walk towards you or lay lower. That might make it. Another trick you might want to try (in this video) is stay. Trying to get further and further from them, even out of reach. It's cool to see how much you can challenge them. :) I have a tutorial to get them jump on your shoulder if you are interested, it's very cool (my favorite trick so far)
I have started clicker training my cat so when I was watching this video and you were clicking, he came right up to my phone and licked his lips... Hehe

Super helpful. I watched this video and it took about 1 hour to teach my cat sit. Absolutely amazing.
My clicker trained cat got very confused in the beginning and started spinning in circles. I think we broke him!

I will certainly be trying these out and will update:)
Taught my kitten around 5 months to sit, she’s so smart!❤ I’ll be teaching her more things now that she’s almost a year 😅 thank you so much ❤❤
Thanks, Buddy! I have 5 cats but never trained them. After watching this video, I'm motivated to do so.
I don't have a cat, but still learning.
Of course we have to be prepared in advance... By the way, me too😂

Very helpful. We just started and followed the tips and tricks and after a week we have mastered 3 tricks. Never thought our cat could be trained like this!
How old is your cat?
@@arasali5706 3 years old. The clicker really works. I never thought our cat would be trained like that
My cat doesn't need to be told to sit when feeding her. When she sees me getting her bowl, cleaning it, and serving it, she will automatically wait in loaf position.
Same 😂
That's a college graduate kitty right there 🎓🐱
“Loaf position”🤣👍
You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear this! :) hurray for you!
Loki struggles alot with learning but after watching this and trying a few times he learned!!!
FYI:your cat makes my heart melt
Yay I love this! Cats can be taught tricks and trained, not many people know this! Thanks for this vid, it's pawesome!
Omg hii me and my cat loveee ur vids
Same
My 20 weeks ragdoll learned his first trick, spin, in 1,5 weeks! We trained every second day on average I’d say and most of that was clicker charging. The actual spin took just 2 shorts sessions.
I’m so proud of him and it is so much fun to see the progress! 😻
Thank you for this video!
I have a Bengal too. I spend a lot of time searching for this type lesson. Glad I find you channel.
Yo
Taught both of my 3 month old ocicats how to Sit so far, moving on to Down now :) awesome video!👏🏼👏🏼
I would love a video on how to discourage a kitten from unwanted behavior - biting etc. Thank you!
Just stop playing with it in that way and be consistent. If you can find some thing that motivates them like a toy string or food that’s the 🔑
Wow this was awesome! You're an incredible cat trainer. I'm getting a kitten tomorrow and will be implementing these techniques and training tools asap. Thank you. This was so informative and broken down masterfully. Bravo! 🎉❤ I've worked with animals my whole life too, I started my own dog grooming business, and I always appreciate another animal enthusiast. ❤❤❤

Last year I adopted a cat and watched this video. She can now do all these tricks and even more. It was super helpful
Thank you Albert! Your videos were helpful in deciding whether we wanted Bengal cats.
( we had Siamese cats for over 30 years!) We decided to get a brother and sister a month ago.
The active , vocal, playful, sweet tempered cats have added so much joy to our home! Thank you
for the wonderful videos of Mia.
My cat was a very quick learner I'm so proud
They are so smart!
🤣
Lol
My cat does this too lol
Thank you Albert!! Thank you Mia! My cat understand to sit in my order now~ Happy chinese new year!~
Happy new year!! Thank you so much for sharing your progress! Can't wait to see how far you two get!
My bengal Koda is 14 weeks and I am excited to go on adventures with her. I taught her how to sit and stay in about 1 hour and I’m busy training her to sit on my shoulders I love ur channel
It is quite hard for me because I’m only 12 and I have a lot of school work but I’m getting there
I’m also making my own cat toys
Really amazing!!
It was an excellent tip! it totally worked on my cat as well. It took me only an hour teaching my cat 3 tricks only without clicker.
I don't have a clicker and I want to teach my cat, so could you explain how you did it without a clicker?
@@StarIsGone424 this is late but just use a pen instead
I'm teaching my foster cat come, sit and stay. And this method seems to be working very well.
Your channel is a goldmine for new cat owners like me! I hope you make a video soon about training a cat to use the litterbox using clicker training.
Great suggestion! A quick answer, because I guess you need some help now and not in a few weeks...
1) Try having more than one litter box.
2) Keep them always clean (at least 1ce a day)
3) Make sure your cat knows where it is.
4) Make it accessible
Once all of the above has been crossed off the list:
- Whenever your cat uses it or stays on it, say "good boy/gir" or click. Then reward
- If you see your cat doing their things elsewhere, pick them up and place them on the litter box. Click, then reward.
- If there's some carpet or soft surface where they usually do it, take it and palce it where the litter box is.
I hope this helps!
After watching this video my cat mastered the sit command perfectly within two days… 😊😊
Learned spin within 4days… Didn’t know cats could be so smart and intelligent ☺️…
I wonder at what age will they start being receptive to these kind of commands? Getting a Bengal kitten in 3 weeks! =D
I really want to train her well to be relaxed and happy with traveling in the car and out and about + good manners indoors ^^
@@sunsetawesomness1745 Nice!
I'll start carrying treats on me now then as she does mostly come when I call her, time to one up her skills hehe

My kitten knows how to finger target now and can hop on my shoulder while I walk around because of you. Thank you so much, we're having a lot of fun:)
What an adorable Darling Mia 💖🥰
My husband & I have a cat, Ollie, that fetches small items, ie. Candy with crinkly wrapper, wine bottle cork, etc. She's so adorable!!!
That’s awesome
I really value your perspective and it has helped me and my cat’s relationship tremendously. I look forward to your next video. Btw my kitty’s name is Shinobu but I also call her Punkinhead or Punkinbutt. Have a great day !
Thank you for taking a moment to share some love! :) Will see you next week 😝
One night I was sad, so I decided I would teach my cat to sit. I did no research on the subject and improvised. My cat got the hang of it in 5 minutes! She'll only sit when there is no distraction and only if I'm the one asking her to😆 I was shooked by her intelligence tbh!
That's great! They are extremely smart, particularly if we are good at understanding what works with them and what doesn't.
Thank you so much for this video! I've been trying to teach my cat tricks and you have made it so easy for me!
Literally just taught my kitten how to sit within minutes, hes such a good boy, picked it up immediately
Absolutely worth watching! Thank you:)
Thank you so much, my Maine Coon is just coming onto 4 months now and it is very important that he is trained because well... he is a menace
I just started training my cat after watching this video and it is still sitting expecting me to give more treats 🤣
that's a good sign I guess! haha
I enjoyed the video!
Had my bengal for about a month now
She did learn sit in like 5 minutes
5 minutes it’s not that bad!!!
For 2 reasons:
1) They are easy tricks that won't compete agains each other (your cat won't get confused)
2) They are going to create strong fundamentals to build the rest of the training upon.
From 14/16 weeks you can start teaching the rest of the tricks, one at a time :)
Best of luck!
When you want to train your cat but he hates treats: what now 👁👄👁
it's so useful, my cat has learnt to sit and come, I'm going to teach her more.
So I’m having an awesome time clicker training my cat, but any suggestions for scratches and bites? My hands are not happy 😆
This cat did a great job training this guy!
I have a tutorial to get them jump on your shoulder if you are interested, it's very cool (my favorite trick so far)
The montage in the beginning is precious !!!
After hearing the click I'm still staying in the same position.
I have started clicker training my cat so when I was watching this video and you were clicking, he came right up to my phone and licked his lips... Hehe
He likes me already? :)
What an amazing cat, they trained their human to give them treats for just sitting.
I ordered a clicker on amazon, and while a wait I'm watching all your clicker training vids lol.

I love this guy. He smiles all the way from the start until the end of the video, plus he’s HANDSOME😍😍😍
Training a cat is SO MUCH harder than training a dog so I respect this guy for training his cat so well!!!!! Cats usually ignore humans unless they have food in their hands😅Wouldn’t even bother to get close to you if you have nothing🤷🏻♀️which is why I don’t like them and will forever prefer dogs❤❤❤Oh and btw, can your cat do “sit pretty” now? Since I didn’t see it do the full motion in the video…
