A Diana 151 from the 60s also works to get that 'softness.' Advantage: tou don't need an umbrella which winds up in your images. Disadvantage: you might yourself get soaked wet and your Diana 151 might not only have light leaks. Great video. Thanks!
I loved the close up of the rain drops on the ground! Very nice shots underneath your umbrella, ella, ella, ella. Thanks for ideas for a rainy day! Haha
Always interesting, Ari! Thank you for your Finnish landscapes. Perfection is a concept that I have trouble with, each person will define it differently. If it is technically perfect, there is the risk that interest will be sacrificed. I may try your umbrella method but often our rain is accompanied with wind.I’ll have to wait for a day when gravity dominates.
Thanks Ari. A series of photographs is an interesting way to explore a subject or concept. I've accumulated enough film to use up a bunch of it, and this sounds like a great way to do that. Exploring variants or details of a theme is a great project.
I've used a backpack and umbrella. You can tuck the umbrella stick under backpack strap and it keeps there almost by itself. I've also used velcro straps to mount umbrella on backpack strap, that way you can keep it over your head too. I must say I'm much more worry about rain with film gear. It can rust, film is ruined by tiny bit of water and gear in great condition is not as easy to replace as with digital.
If you havent already considered it, you might think about making some kind of electronic 'zine of your work. I thought to myself that the combination of your piano and photography would be worth "displaying" as background to a get together with friends or just for myself. Break it up into chapters - seasons of the year, location(s), your favorites, whatever. An hour or two or more?????? I would think I'm not the only one who would be glad to pay for this content. It's a lovely composition and curation of music and photography that you do each week. I for one could watch and listen for hours.
Yeah, contrast and going through phases. So interesting, either way it’s not right or wrong (unless it isn’t 😂). But which side of the bed you get up on affects choice of film, development and what you do with it.
Have you considered putting the umbrella's handle into a small backpack, such as a child might use? I found one of my daughter's old backpacks, stuffed a towel inside next to the umbrella handle and closed the backpack's top. It holds the umbrella well, unless the wind blows. And the pink backpack is quite the fashion statement!
I always enjoy your transparent believability, mixed with your humour. Refreshing. Now, I want to ask you to do a video on how YOU scan your negatives? Please, thank you. (I’m betting, you being you, you’ve crafted your own kind of scanning set up?)
I've used an umbrella a number of times, it works best if your wife holds it in place. 😷 One day when it was raining quite hard, I noticed many of the images had a blurry streak; it was the water draining off the umbrella!
Tai pahassa tilanteessa: ruclips.net/video/3wgC4pZFS8U/видео.htmlsi=njwclYt6W2ZnKkCc&t=579

Very pleasing images. I particularly like the softness of the images and compliments the mood of the scene. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching :-)

Thanks thanks!! Yeah, wind is an issue, but you can often turn your back on it. And then your body, together with the umbrella, does the trick!

Thanks thanks!! Yeah, you approach each frame differently if you think it will be in a series.
Very beautiful photos.I hate umbrellas! Maybe your way good!

True. Water is an issue. I don't take it lightly -- but I also want to shoot in bad weather. So it's always a struggle.
Great trip Ari, loved the images and those yellow boots.
Thanks, thanks -- and thanks for watching!
I like how you took a series of photos from one location. I often try to do that, too.
Thanks thanks. Yeah, it just gives a new perspective to your photo session.
Beautiful rendition of Morning has Broken by Cat Stevens to accompany your equally moving photos
Thank you. I had never really listened to the intro -- so this time I took my time :-)
Thanks again Buddy!! Excellent shots!!!!
Kiitos ittelles. Lyhyt mutta mukava reissu!

yeah, I like that idea. Let me think about it. Also, how about a zine and a compact cassette together :-)
oh Ari, you're a gem!!!
I'd like to think so! ;-)
very nice pictures!! .. now gotta go buy an umbrella :)

I have to go to the sea dike here in my beighbourhood and take some photos

I love the idea of using domesticated significant others to hold an umbrella. Maybe cook for you too :-). ---- just kidding!!!

En oo sokerista, mut köyhä oon, eikä mulla ole varaa ostaa uutta runkoa tai lasia näiden vanhojen tilalle.
Are you focusing with the ground glass on the Graflex or using the RF or just winging focus?
Ground Glass :-)
Put the handle down the back of your shirt ……I mean you may need to wear a bra to stop it moving but no gain without pain. 😉
I'm ticklish -- cannot do that 🙂
