Eric, your comedy and knowledge always makes my day so much better. I'm forever happy I found your channel cause even on a bad day I can come home and learn something new about cars 🙌
Two tips for Eric: the seat tracks can be cleaned and re-greased with white lithium grease, and they should work better. Next, if the caster/camber plates don't completely correct the suspension you can buy special caster/camber bolts. Replace the top bolt where the shock bolts to the spindle, and you can get some more adjustment out of the suspension.
Always have a soft spot in my heart for the 96-98 Cobra. I almost bought one when I was in college, but couldn’t swing it. Instead I put a ‘98 Cobra drivetrain in my ‘01 V6 mustang, because I wanted my cobra and I was not aware of how the wiring was about to ruin my life. Got it working though, even the AC. The sound of that car with long tubes, X pipe, and Borla XR1 exhaust would compete with anything. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I liked it better than my LS1 cars with similar exhaust at the time. Anyway love the build! Brings back lots of fond memories.
I know this means nothing...however, I'm so proud of you for taking the time to sort out and care for the older FORD. FORD is what this country runs on, and they will continue to be a great symbol of hardworking Americans everywhere. You sir continue to make great family friendly videos, and because you now see why I like FORD, I'll stop picking on you... Blessings and joy! 😁
That's awesome, as a life long Mustang guy I'm so jealous but at the same time grateful that Mystic ended up with you getting the attention she deserves and needs. Thanks again for sharing, and if you do decide to sell it please let us know :)
Assuming the lowering springs are a decent brand... red could be BMR, Eibach Sportlines, or even H&R Race springs. They should have print on the coils someplace but you probably would have already noticed that if they did.
You made a smart investment with the wheels and the bilstein kit. This project is going in a great direction, can't wait to see more in the future with this project!
The wheels and tires look really great. Win. The crazy thing, still, is the complete interior swap between the two cars in the last video. Thanks for the update~!
Since the paint on the rear wing is bad, you could de-spoiler the car (at least while you try to find a solution) by removing it and temporarily sealing the holes. Another thought might be to dip the stock spoiler black (might look better than faded / lifting paint) or an aftermarket carbon-fiber type wing... Neat project, I was always tempted by Mystic but also knew it was a risky choice for a daily....
Love the channel. I believe you can get replacement motor kits for the seat track and rebuild it. My 96 had the same issue. Welcome to the Mustang family!
Bilstiens were the right way to go. Red springs could be Eibach, H and Rs, or eBay specials. Obviously part numbers will tell you. Wheels look good. You need to ensure your CC plates are for bilsteins. I believe their shaft diameter is different than others. Maximum Motorsports sells two different CC plates; one for Bilsteins, one for non-Bilsteins.
Acquiring parts and not installing them is your favourite thing, you say. This completely lines up with owning an auto recycler. Many parts acquired by you. Very few installed by you.
The first type of 94 up Cobra wheels looked really good, especially the versions with the blackened recess in the wheels. I had some 94 Cobra wheels on my 2011 Ranger for 10 days but they tramlinened horribly and pulled left really hard while braking so off they came.
Yeah man, those wheels look decent. Especially when a car can pull off the staggered set up. I had no idea those mustangs came with that paint scheme. My neighbor had one i thought he was just flashy but turns out its a thing
It DOES look good with those wheels. Mustangs of that generation and earlier are easy to work on, easy to make too fast, and easy to crash. My FAVORITE kind of cars and bikes all have those traits!
They're easy to crash because people dump money into the engine and not the brakes and suspension. These mustangs and the older fox bodies can handle really well if setup right! They don't weigh much and have a good wheelbase for cornering.
I have that exact same problem with loving to buy parts I built an 89 mustang 10 years ago and I put the best of the best in it and then after a while I learned some of the parts weren’t doing what I wanted so I started buying parts and now I have a twin disc clutch a hydraulic handbrake a standalone engine management new three-piece headlights battery relocation kit you get the point and the list is long by the time I get around to putting them in it’s going to be a one month project so don’t feel bad I love buying parts also putting them in can be a little bit less exciting to me
I know you did this vid eons ago, but as far as the seat tracks....I have a 2006 crown vic cop car, it has a bucket seat with up down forward and back, thinking maybe the tracks are interchangeable, I dont know...love your show!
@@I_Do_Cars It always (90%+) ends up being 5-10K spent before offloading it onto some other project car guy. Especially true for desirable old cars (most project cars right?). That said. I'm borrowing book writing advice here. "once the main fun, enthusiasm, and novelty of the project has worn off, you're about 1/4 done, KEEP GOING. Do at least a little a day, that way you're still making progress. For a car, it might be twice a week or so because parts + shipping. You'll know you're done when you have nothing else to add and are thoroughly sick of your baby" Would you rather be the guy who gave up on it halfway or has an awesome hand-done car?
IncertusetNescio you described my ls swap in my land cruiser to the T. I just treated it like a job, I would get something done every week. I kept a white board with my part needs and I would write down the very next thing to do as I started what was on the board. Discipline got that project done and I absolutely love it now.
Wheels look era correct and i like them, i literally LOL when you said “do whatever you have to to get it aligned perfect”.....its a 90s street beater and nothing is perfect anymore so get it close then beat on it some more lol
I know what you mean but I also hate wasting tires because of a bad alignment. I’m ok wasting tires because I’m driving like an idiot, but I have to enjoy wasting them.
@@I_Do_Cars i can relate to that, i have a road race, drag and street SN and the only one that isnt tweaked somewhere is the road course car. You are now SN95 infected especially a mystic Cobra. I own a 94 GT Convertible and a 95 GTS FULL Custom Your channel will roll full speed. Keep that 96 going. 😎🏆
99-04 tracks should bolt right up to those seats, same pattern from 79-04. us fox guys (me included) put 94-04 seats on factory fox tracks all...the...time (they even sit a bit lower, huge plus for big and tall guys). btw those ssc's look right at home there.
I had a '95 GT through that didn't treat me particularly well, nor I it. I know I'm old because I'm watching this series and thinking "man, I kind of miss that '95 FIVE OH!"
Looking good…Looks like you have eibach sportline springs…Caster/camber plates aren’t necessary if you don’t mind a tiny bit of useful negative camber…
Agree on the Eibach Sportlines. That's the first thing that popped in my head when you said that they were red. Little bit of negative camber is definitely a good thing. Helps in the corners. Hell of a deal on the Bilstein's even if the one thread needs to be chased out.
At 6:50ish what is that black car in the right upper corner of the screen? What’s the story on it? PS IF you see any 70-78 Datsoon Z cars I have 2 ‘73’s one stock except for different CARB legal carburetors and a the second with a turbo VERY FAST a little quicker Thanx lovin your show from Krapramento, California the Krapital/Krapitol
The wheels are very COBRA-ESQUE either way. they look awesome on the car. One thing to check on the engine is the rear main. After owning and working on a bunch of mod powered vehicles, I would definitely check for weeping in the bellhousing. That and coolant passage rubber orings on the intake seem to like to shit the bed. Would be neat to check out the intake since this cobra should have the double runner/odd shaped intake ports. One round and one rectangle, engineers were high as fuck that day they were OK'ing the design lol
At about 3:20 you're talking about the fate of the stripped "roller" Mustang, and behind you there's what looks like a silver Forerunner all mashed up. I hope that's not the project truck you video'ed about earlier this year?!
Still waiting for the "greatest hits" vid, yea, I get it, your busy but such a vid might turn into some nice view numbers, just saying. Good luck with the Mustang, I like it.
My grandparents bought me a 96 Cobra Mystic brand new in 96. It was a graduation gift. I wish I still owned it but it’s long gone.

those rims look so right.
Happy to see a spark of light lit into you after seeing the wheels. Shes in good hands now
Indeed easy to work on. After a steady diet of esoteric, working on these old Fox/SN95/New edge cars are straightforward. And their relatively light.
That's awesome, as a life long Mustang guy I'm so jealous but at the same time grateful that Mystic ended up with you getting the attention she deserves and needs. Thanks again for sharing, and if you do decide to sell it please let us know :)
