I have backpacked this area several times and it is one of my favorites for a weekend trip. It is a great place to stop off and prepare for hiking in the Winds or just a quick weekend getaway. I say quick but it is an 8 hour drive for me! Those views on the north side of Brown's Peak are stunning.
Thanks for watching this video Gregg. The Snowy Range was very beautiful, although I could have used more time to acclimate to the elevation. It's a little more than an 8 hour drive for me.
I loved this one! When you said Eastern Wyoming... I did not expect it to look like that! I was going to ask about the elevation because I could hear it in your voice.
Hey Bryan......glad you made it home. Really tickled to see you made it to the Snowy Range. Even happier to know you liked it. I so look forward to starting my "Western Swing" in the Snowy's every year. Oh, enjoyed the video too. And btw, Brooklyn lake is really cold. I can attest to that! Tom
Awesome video! It's so nice that Coach and Buddy could join you! The Snowy Range is one we haven't visited yet, but we hope to. It's not too terribly far from where we live. 😊 Looks like you had a peaceful trip! ❤
Great video! I know you have no control of how RUclips alerts subscribers but even though I have subscribed to your channel I have to go look for your videos. I haven’t forgotten you, just takes me some time to find you every now and then. Great scenery!
You’re in my neck of the woods. I’m about 30 minutes away in Laramie. Was just up there this morning. Beautiful place. Has gotten a little crowded lately. But still wonderful
We drove through Laramie to get to the Snowy Range. It is a very beautiful, although I was a little surprised by the number of day hikers and backpackers.
Thanks Bryan...it'd be interesting to see/ hear how you plan these trips that are such a distance from TN. Considering what trails, hazards, water, wildlife, etc so far from your home would seem to be a challenge...maybe an idea for a new video.
First, for this trip a friend uploaded a video of this loop. Second, I used Caltopo maps online to determine the miles, analyze the topo and look at water sources. Third, when we drove through Laramie we stopped at an outfitter and purchased a paper map. Also I downloaded the Gaia map for this area on my phone.
I did almost the exact same trip a few years ago. Found a thunderbox at Deep Lake which was very disappointing, but the Snowy Range is a great place to backpack. Lot of moose up there, and pretty good fishing.
Enjoyed the beautiful scenery from a part of Wyoming that's often overlooked or just passed through going to places like the Winds, Tetons and Yellowstone. Good to see Coach has his pup hiking with him! P.S., this msg is for Coach; sure do miss your backpacking videos and nice to see your Lab with you!
Thanks John! The Snowy Range is overlooked by people traveling long distances to NW Wyoming, but it seems to be heavily used by locals and people from Colorado. Coach's dog is now 5 years old. Last year he flew to Idaho, so he could not bring Buddy.
Hi Bryan. Thanks for another great hiking video. Enjoyed the scenery and your usual good narration and filming. Questions: Did your home suffer any damage/problems in the recent hurricane? Hate to see what has happened along the TN/NC border. Also, I like the way you have a line drawn along a map showing where you hiked. Is there software that I could purchase that does that? God Bless!
Thanks Ken! Fortunately we only had rain and wind with no damage. The program I use to make the animated maps is Blender. It's free with a lot of RUclips instruction videos, but it took a while to figure out to make the maps.
@@BryanDeLay Thank you Bryan. Glad you were spared. RE: Blender I appreciate your help. Willgive it a try. My grandson and I plan to meet at Grayson Highlands (VA) on Oct 24 and hike there, then go to Roan Mountain to do the balds there. Will have to monitor the situation before we head up there. More importantly, hoping the Lord blesses all those affected by the storm and effects. Keep up the great work, I enjoy and appreciate your efforts.
Hi Bryan! Beautiful scenery. I can image buffalo roaming those paries. When using your hiking pole to set up your tarp, does it put a hole in your ground sheet? Also, what shoes were you wearing and can you recommend them? Thanks for sharing!
Thanks jmash41! I put duck tape on the ground cloth and then used a punch to create a perfect circle hole in the ground cloth. My hiking pole goes in the hole and it's never leaked. I've been using Altra Olympus 5 Trail Running shoes and really like them. I'm on my second pair now.
Good observation allstar2941! It's a Jereko Gear Driver and can be found here: www.garagegrowngear.com/collections/ultralight-backpacking-gear-accessories/products/driver-by-jereko-gear.
There are trade offs. The Duomid offers more weather protection and is quicker to erect. However the Trail Star provides visibility during rain. My DCF Trail Star was beginning to delaminate so I just decided to try the Duomid. Last spring I purchased a Hammock Gear tarp that I've been using during warm weather. However, I decided to bring the Duomid out west because of the potential for high winds along with rain, hail and snow.
@@BryanDeLay Hi Bryan, is your Duomid the XL or regular version? Which? The Silpoly TS or Duomid regular or Duomid XL? Been subed to your vids for Years :) Always fun and informative. Thanks for all the replies over the years :)
Thanks allstar2941! My Duomid is the regular version made of silnylon. I wish it was silpoly, but when I purchased the Duomid they were not making them from silpoly. I have some silpoly tarps and like that material better than silnylon.
@@BryanDeLay Thanks Bryan :) Yes, I see the "rain sag" of the Duomid. I am deciding between the Silpoly version of the TS or the Duo.... I see that an extra tarp is providing a "beak" on the Duomid in the current videos... sort of Trailstar - ish. I have been trying to see if your videos have an comments back in the past about the TS. The TS seems to first appear in the video - Snowbird Creek - from Nov 20, 2012... Yes, I am trying to make an informed purchase! :) In the past I watched your video - MLD Trail Star Tarp Review - back in Jun 15, 2017 video. 5 years of TS style to THAT review point! I have several hammock and flat tarps and tents tho no Hex tarps or experience. So - as the experience one with both styles - TS or Duo (in Silpoly) ? Your thoughts are very much appreciated. PS. Years ago I modded a hex bug net per your method AND use golf tees for a SOL groundsheets I have... :) Thanks!

Thanks Travis, the Snowy Range was better than I expected. We car camped for two nights, but it was not enough to really acclimate to the elevation.
Great to see you, Bryan! ❤ And David, too! We'll be watching this tonight. Can't wait! 😊
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the video this evening.
