Actually you can put any spool on top... the little thing on top pops out. Watch other videos on here. (Edit... looks like you figured that out after) overall I think the threading takes maybe a minute more than a standard machine. It's true it doesn't have a back stitch but all you have to do is put in just a few stitches stop, lift the foot, and turn your fabric and go over the area again. Obviously there will be compromises for such a small machine vs a big one. But also a few perks in my opinion. And guys this isn't for heavy duty fabrics or stretchy fabrics. Great for paper and medium weight non stretchy fabrics. This takes practice! Really just for non serious sewers or for people with lack of space. I don't sew often nor did I want to lug out a bigger machine. This is quick to pull out. So you gotta decide if pros and cons fit your situation.
I have one I just bought it when you get the hang of it it really is amazing for a beginner I make clothes with it even if it isn’t the best I like it because it’s affordable and it works also if you just started learning on it and the bobbin stitch is loose try the nifty nine method and just keep on trying my stitches are now perfect :)
I purchased this to use with sewing paper crafts, like around cards and embellishments. I have a Brothers sewing machine for fabric. This is great for paper crafting because it runs on batteries and cord power. Taking it to craft get together parties.
@@TarynsTime yep works amazing I would recamend saving up because it’s not the best with heavy fabrics but if your a beginner it’s really cheap and great!
@@Ilyxoxo3jjj obviously it is already in landfill somewhere. This machine is not meant for sewing. You would be better off and faster with hand sewing. I suggest buy a second hand, there are many decent ones in that price range. Lets not support rubbish companies like this one. Peace.
So if your daughter learns on that, when she tries a real machine she will be thrilled!! 🙂 I quilt and have been using my basic $100 singer for prob going close to ten years. Love that you tried one of these out... I think it's still easier to pull out my reg machine for stitches 😉 Laura m 🦋
You can put the spool of thread on the pole at the top. Instead of complaining, please watch Ooni crafts channel, she gives very good instructions. I follow her and have had no problems.
I bought a Berninia sewing machine 1978. !! It has metal metal bearings etc. The darn thing weighs about 25 pounds!! I know if I go and use it I'll have no problems
I bought one of these as my first sewing machine in highschool but it also didn't back stitch! I kept wondering why everything I made was falling apart! But I was able to teach myself how to sew with it, so worth the price! But now I'm going to buy a little kid's one to use exclusively for paper stitching. I saw many other reviews of people custom fit suits with this machine and it worked. It also go on top of 4 layers of jeans. Many people are very very satisfied. It’s cheap and good to start
I have one. I recommend it if you are not a sewest, and just need a cheap machine that can do simple stitches (hem pants or make masks etc) . As for back stitch, i leave the needle in the fabric, lift presser foot, turn the fabric around, sew, the turn it around again.
Great review. I would prob break this thing lol. I m a bit rough on my sewing machine we have love hate relationship 😹. I think this is great for your daughter tho to see how much she uses and enjoys it before an upgrade. The platform is a great add on. Thnx for sharing your view:)
Wow. I'm not sure what to say except Wow. I'm imagining your daughter is excited about it, and in the end, that's a great thing. I've been sewing a loooooooooong time, and started on a regular machine. Not sure they had ones like this back then. One thing I know is: this made me appreciate my machine more! LOL! You are a great mom to help your daughter learn to sew. I did when my daughter was 10-ish. She still loves it today. Good memories.
Oh I wish I'd known you would looking into this. I have one like this. The one you have is kind of a redone version of the one I have. Its called a pixie singer craft machine. Its purple. Tiny just like yours. BUT it DOES have 9 diff stitch options, it DOES have reverse/back stitch option. And mine also takes a spool of thread of any size. Im happy to show you if you want to see it. Mine does wind the bobbin on one side and i have to move it to get thread all over. I didn't get a sewing pedal with mine tho. It has plug holes for it. But I use batteries.
@Kirsty Biggs I looked before for the exact one I have. It seems I have the first edition and the updated version is called a pixie singer plus It looks like Tonis.
@Kirsty Biggs mine was actually gifted to me so I'm not sure. If you Google the name of it, it'll come up for different buying options. Also, I did see a small one like these at Wal-Mart for 15.88 That may be what you need if you want to start small.
I'm so glad you did this review. I saw someone else review one just like it, but she only showed the actual sewing. I have dexterity issues with both hands, so now I'll choose another affordable small one for my studio to do paper sewing.
Thank you SO much for posting this! Now maybe I'll be able to use mine after two years of having it 😂😂 I plan on just using it for paper so hopefully it doesn't give me any issues.
I bought this a year ago recommended from scrapdaworld tamia. It's been helping me make masks. Mine is Haitral but EXACTLY the same. The thread always breaks as the tension rod is crap lol tyfs God bless
I was having the same problem with the tension rod until my mom borrowed the machine one day and told me that u WEREN'T supposed to wrap it around as I had been doing. She also said you can probably adjust the tension rod by spinning it clockwise or counter clock wise, she wasn't sure.
I was planning to buy one because it's not pricey but thank u so much for your review I will have to buy something that's a little bit more expensive that will come with all the stuff I want it to do
This review is so clear and helpful. Thank you. Now i've finally made up my mine to NOT buy it lol have been contemplating whether to buy it for the longest time now.
I was really disappointed with the cable for the pedal and power plug being so short.. wish it was like half a meter - meter longer, since currently it just barely reaches my floor :p Thanks a bunch for the video showing how to thread it though, the instructions aren't the best, haha
Pretty cool either way. It works in a pinch and it will help anyone sew small alterations with thin fabrics. Who needs the back stitch when you honestly could back stitch it yourself by hand.
Hmmm. I was looking for something to help me make masks. I think I'll try the cheaper handheld and save up for something a little more high quality. Thank you so much for reviewing!!

I have a very good machine but no room for it, I guess this will do for now. I learned on treadle machines that only had one stitch, I am used to turning to create a back stitch.
have you ever tried the hand sewing machine? I have an ancient sewing machine that my grandma used. Her sewing machine is a singer and i have to thread it as you described haha. I thought they all were like this haha.
Actually I have one and it seems to sew denim just fine. Thread comes out of needle what I do is hold thread until it starts sewing then it's fine after. It gets the job done.
What kind of batteries does it use? If it used 18650s it would be a big plus! Especially since the only advantage of this is it is tiny and if it would work with rechargeable batteries it might be worth it if I bought direct from China off Aliexpress or something. Hanna Nuur Tsaniya its because this sewing machine doesnt have a backstitch🙈that was my negative about this machine. You can lift the foot, turn your fabric around, then sew exactly on the same stitch over again
