    I have a D5600 and this is my base lens that is on my camera in the bag. I only switch to my 12-24mm or 80-400mm for specific needs, but roughly 75% of my photos are taken with the 18-140mm. Charles is not lying... the sharpness and detail from this "kit" lens is amazing!!

    I just got a Nikon 18-140mm for my trip to Maui a couple weeks ago and I could not be happier! You are so right, this is a great all around travel lens. I seriously used it 99% of the trip and most of the shots I wanted. I switched to the 70-300 to shoot surfers from the shore line. If anyone is on the fence about this lens, jump! Its well worth it

    Excellent shots, especially the “Hero”, nice presentation and explanations. I’m in the U. S., bought this Nikon Z DX lens through B&H Photo in January 2022, for my Nikon Mirrorless Z Mount cameras. The cost here is $596., essentially $600. - same price (New) everywhere. Its been this price since the Z mount lens was first released in the U. S. In Nov. 2021. I don’t feel the cost should lessen it’s appeal. The focal length range is perfect in most situations, has excellent optics, really fast and accurate AF, and super stable VR, virtually no chromatic aberration - very well made. Cheers, Catherine O

    Hello Charles, I'd like to say that your videos are brilliant and I love that they are realistic for a lot of people. I myself like many others, don't have a pro photographers budget, so videos like this with cheaper lenses are so helpful. I use a D7100 and have been using an 18-55 and a 55-200 (older versions) and thanks to your videos I've made the choice to choose this 18-140 and the AF-P 70-300 too. Really looking forward to using them when they arrive. I'll using tips and techniques that you have shared from some of yur other videos too.

    I’ll be taking this lens along with others, from the States, to Europe with an extended stay in the UK…including 4 days in Scotland, with a day in Glencoe. It will be riding my wife’s D3500, as I don’t want to be lugging my D7500 around, that weighs basically double. I’m already going to be lugging several lenses, a tripod, laptop, Sony AX33 for video (I debated on leaving the camcorder and going with the D7500, but the stabilization in the ax33 blows the 7500 by a massive margin, with smoother, zooms, and dead quiet focusing. so I’m willing to deal with the combined weight of the camcorder, and D3500), and accompanying cords, cables, filters, and backup batteries in my backpack.
    I’m already dealing with enough weight, so I am trying to lighten what I can.

    Hey guys i have a question,in the video i heard that a full frame 18mm lens is 27mm if you equip it on a dx body but if you have an 18mm dx lens then it is 18mm not 27mm.Is that correct?? Because all this time i knew that for example an 18mm on a dx lens will always be 27mm even if its a dx lens.Thank you!

    • @CharlesNPhotography
      @CharlesNPhotography  2 года назад +1

      Okay, to start with a 18mm lens will always show 18mm in the exif data of your photo whether it's a full-frame lens or a DX lens. But the field of view if you put a 18mm FF lens on a dx body with give you a 1.5x magnification, so the field of view will be 27mm, but the exif data will still show 18mm. I hope this makes sense.

    • @vaggelispetsopoulos2397
      @vaggelispetsopoulos2397 2 года назад

      @@CharlesNPhotography Hey Charles thank you very much for your quick response.I understand that an 18mm full frame lens will be 27mm my question is if an 18mm dx lens will be 27mm as well.

    • @julianzepeda9664
      @julianzepeda9664 2 года назад +1

      @@vaggelispetsopoulos2397 The focal length of both lenses is the same, therefore, when mounted on a camera with a dx sensor, they will both have the same crop factor (i.e. 18mm will give an equivalent field of view of 27mm for both lenses). The difference between the two lenses is that the fx lens' projected image circle will fill a fx sensor, while the dx lens will only project an image circle to sharply fill a dx sensor. If you put a fx lens on a dx sensor, no problem. However, if you put a dx lens on a fx sensor, you may get some severe vignetting. Also, the f-stop equivalents have to be taken into account. A maximum aperture of f3.5, because of the crop, actually produces a depth of field equivalent to f5.4 on a dx sensor compared to a fx sensor.

The zoom range is nothing out of the ordinary these days but totally adequate for most situations. My camera body has lens distortion correction in it and the lens is high quality so they both work together, really well. I also have a Hoya UV&IR Cut filter to give my images just that little extra clarity and visual umpf! I know “pixel peepers” will whinge and bitch but for most of us … just perfect. The Alabamie Kid
