I’m sorry to hear that, but grateful that they have shared that difficult news. She & former President Carter lived a full & very giving life, regularly volunteering into their 90’s. Their kindness & generosity will be returned by their large circle of friends & family helping them through this extremely emotional time at the end of a full life.
I have seen dementia development in many clients. Frequently, undiagnosed I don't understand why it goes undiagnosed for so long even as these people see their doctors regularly. There should be a routine test for dementia after a certain age.
Hope they checked her for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus before getting to this diagnosis. Alzheimer’s is a lazy doctors diagnosis as there are many many reasons to investigate before coming up with Alzheimer’s.
