  • On this day in 2005, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh attended the 80th birthday party of Margaret Thatcher at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London. As well as Baroness Thatcher's royal guests, the party was also attended by the then-Prime Minister, Tony Blair, Hollywood icon Joan Collins, and Thatcher's former cabinet colleagues including Geoffrey Howe, Norman Lamont, and John Major.

      my dad was a miner and was killed in 74, he would have been sad to see what happened to the industry
