This is the special Petty Power which showcases Richard Petty during the 75 season and him finally winning the World 600. I do not own copyrights to this video.
426 hemi and Richard Petty a dominant pair. The man always fielded a great car and a cool looking one as well. STP a tremendous race sponsor made an iconic color scheme with those fabulous race cars. The King. The Man.
It’s amazing the durability of the big engines back then with the long 400/500 Mile races. They had to use water a lot with a hose to spray into the rad back then but still pretty impressive, the big power of those Dodge’s was impressive. & nowadays the engines are pretty much bullet proof & running very high RPM’s. But all that said Richard Petty is still the King & always will be & nobody will touch his 200 Nascar Cup series wins.
Richard Petty is still my NASCAR Hero, to this day!!! He just turned 85 years young, back in July!!! I have his signatured Charlie One Horse Hat, I even have the legit Cool Ray Polaroid Roadmaster Sunglasses he wore in this Petty Power video, have 10 pairs of them, 3 of the pairs are brand spankin' new from 1971-'79!!! That STP/ Petty Enterprises Dodge Charger is my favorite, I have a Charger that I'm gonna have cloned to be a legit Winston Cup car, at the Petty's Garage in North Carolina, bucket list thing!!! Long live the King, Richard Petty 👍👍😎😎
He had to make an unscheduled stop and change 4 tires early on and went a lap down. Then he came back and dominated. He led over half the race and proceeded to lap the entire field by the time it was over.
Not every track - attendance at Texas World Speedway, Ontario and Michigan were a BIG issue - part of why Bill France was OK with TV covering races - more about publicity than any $$$ paid to NASCAR from TV networks.
Great success often requires great sacrifice. Richard lost his grandson on a short track in New Hampshire, he would trade all his victories to have him at his side.
Probably Richard Petty's best year in the Modern Era, aside from his 1967 championship with 27 wins. More than a dozen wins, consistent finishes, the Petty's had everything going for them in the '60s and the '70s.
I remember the feeling of being there in the stands as a 14 year old kid with my dad and brothers I cannot describe it but it made me who I am My Dad passed away a few years ago He was a Pearson fan (me too) but in high school I bought a 70 road runner 440 4 speed and never saw another car but Mopar...still today all mopars in my driveway Trade em all to have my Dad back for just 1 day
Were these 3 races considered the "crown jewels" of NASCAR at the time? Love Petty's car there!!! The Dodges', the Plymouths' and even the Ford Torino's just looked bad to the bone back then. *sighs @5:40, the press/cameraguy buddy is deciding whether to jump out of the way for not lol. They're just standing at the tracks' edge, behind orange cones lol. That was the safety measures taken back in 1970 apparently. @8:28 Its 1975, but what is Petty driving there? Looks like early 70's? I was born in '75, so my perspective is skewed. Plus being in Canada, we didnt exactly get great NASCAR coverage. Still Dont (R.I.P. SPEED CHANNEL) get very good coverage. Its 2019 and ESPN has washed their hands of NASCAR all together. Canned all their NASCAR reporters.
Richard Petty won 200 races. He ran Mopars and Fords. Sorry little boys, he never did anything, nor could have done so much with gms. Rules had to change to get gm to compete evenly in the all-out speed and endurance categories. Now it's still rigged to give gm the advantage. Everyone but a gm fan sees this. Remember the Oldsmobile division and it's failure rate? I do.

Wow, miss those sunday afternoons with dad. Only available on network TV a few times a year.
Long live the legend...long live the King. Long live MoPower!
This is Petty power. Here he wins in his own neck of the woods too. This is why he is called The King of NASCAR.
Wish NASCAR could return to those days

Wow. Just incredible how long he was able to win consistently.

That Darrell Waltrip kid is going places
The stands were full --- More than you can say for today.

$17,000 back then was a lot of money.
Patrick Murphy thanks captain obvious 🤦🏻♂️
When you could smoke in public, even in your hot rod.
The days when airbender skills were required to race.

This must have been around the time that NASCAR moved to small blocks, and Petty still won w/o a HEMI.
