You're not alone as I also grew to have a obsession with The Bad Guys recently, and Mr. Wolf and Diane Foxington became some of my favorite fictional couples ever. I also enjoyed this Holiday Special, and I found it funny yet slightly concerning when Mr. Wolf looked like he was losing his sanity a little. His eye twitch when Mr. Shark started ranting about A Christmas Carol says it all.
This is really nice to hear. I had written off the holiday special because of that trailer, but I think you've convinced me to give it an earnest shot.
Seeing this on Netflix was a complete surprise to me and I enjoyed it full heartedly. It’s cute, it doesn’t contradict canon, it was fun. Sure I could kinda tell the animation was different but it didn’t distract me at all.
great points! honestly it was sweeter than i anticipated it to be, despite my (not very unique) problems with stiff movements of the characters and some of the charm that the original voice cast carried being lost, and in my opinion, the inciting incident of this short was a little.. _too_ silly for me to really believe. but not a bad addition to the franchise by any means, i do agree that your level of enjoyment of this short will definitely be based on how much you enjoyed the movie for it's characters, and i too enjoyed the characters a lot
Man, thanks a lot for this review; I just ended watching it and... it was such a ROUGH experience for a hyped fangirl of the original movie. The whole charm that makes my heart go fiery was lost here. The visuals, the body movement of characters, the use of of 2D touches/highlights...I was just sad to me :( You made me a little brighter and regain appreciation for what it is, a short story that expands the story of these 5. Buuut.... you say you're the biggest Shark fan? haha! well, huh. I am crazy for Piranha, but I also love Sharkie soo much that I did over 20 sketches of my bf as Shark-like persona :'D but... sadly I stopped posting online my art, so only my close friends can see my fun, but why did I mention it? just to say, you're not alone! I'm probably the no.2 sharkie fan :'D
I was one of the animator for this tv show . I can say that story was good It was good laughs. The animation was very restricted . Our director was figuring out as the episodes progressed so when the tv show release you can see with every passing episode the animation changes .He wanted a feel of stop-motion,he was experimenting as we for every episode we would get animation direction notes
Usually an animation downgrade is enough to keep me away, but I’m willing to let it slide for this one because I love watching these characters that much. That and I also have a huge crush on Ms Tarantula.
Not gonna lie, the Penguins of Madagascar Christmas Caper was arguably *better* animated than the original Madagascar movie, IMHO. Hell, despite being animated like, a decade ago, it's much better animated than The Bad Guys Christmas Special. This is definitely a case of cut corners, IMHO. Especially with the changed voice actors. Clearly not enough money was spent. The writing makes it decent though, I agree. But it could have been a lot better, IMHO.
This is crazy and unrelated but I lived in that same dorm last year and thought I’d say hi to a fellow student and also I hope the elevators are breaking down less
Not gonna lie, the special is hard to look at cause of the animation and the way the characters move. Probably will watch it sometime, but I highly doubt it will be peak like Kung fu Panda: Holiday Special. 😉
i feel like i'm one of the few people who wasn't bothered by the animation quality AT ALL. like yeah, it looks cheaper compared to the original film, but it doesn't look god-awful either. i genuinely don't understand why people complained about it so much.
Were people really expecting the made-for-TV 25 minute special to... Not look like it was made-for-TV??? I was excited as hell when it got announced cause I love animation and I missed stupid hokey shit like this. Times really have changed huh,,
I think when it comes to a special it usually implies there would be more budget and runtime because all the production focus would be on just the particular special Kinda like how Trolls has a holiday special But I think the actual plan is for a Netflix series with 3d TV quality And not to mention. The animators likely only had less than a year to animate which is why the animation is a bit more stiff

the dig on wish got me 💀 but I’m glad they kept the heart of the original w/o making them go good in a prequel

The best Christmas special DreamWorks gave us
That's right, I am talking about THE MADAGASCAR PENGUINS IN A CHRISTMAS CAPER
I liked your cameo in Schaff's Spielberg ranking.

They're going to release a TV show?
@@ThePrincessCH yes that was the plan .

In my personal opinion, the short wouldve beeb much better with more time for the animation
And maybe a longer runtime 6-9 minutes maybe?

I don’t care! The movie should’ve ever existed.
