I love the show. I am a 74 years old woman. I think that Ben is a big Teddy Bear, and Erin is a barbie Doll. Your daughter is a doll and I can't wait for your next little girl. You are both in my prayers.
The most honest and likeable hosts of all these renovation shows. They are sincere and open which translates despite television staging necessities. They have the broadest social spectrum and it's clear there is no judgement. Some of the other renovation hosts are like sandpaper on your brain for their presumption & irritation quotient.
You can't beat the chemistry these two have. From the designs Erin creates to make each home welcoming alongside with Ben is just one of her many talents and with the love and care of the wood projects Ben puts together, are nothing short of beautiful. Home town is the show to watch. May they continue to show us the homes they reno & decorate for years to come.
I live in Wetumpka, Alabama and so thrilled as a long time fan that they chose us! I love they seem so "real" and have a loving, respectful kind of relationship.
I love Ben, Erin and their show. I love Erin's style. I wish she would come to a small town in Texas and help me with my 1940 house. LOL I will just keep watching them and do my best to copy. Keep on remodeling and decorating you two!!!
Believe it or not, there is only one basic rule to be followed when decorating or redecorating you home. Well over 100 years ago William Morris summed it up perfectly. "Have nothing in your home you do not know to be useful and think to be beautiful." Houses from the 40s are usually very well built and most likely have a reasonable amount of space for the purpose. In terms of colour, I have often suggested the colours used by Wedgwood in their Jasper line of pottery. Soft but distinct medium light blue, soft pink, pale buttery yellow, sage green, and even black.
I love these two and have followed them for years. They promote positivity, family and growth! I moved to the suburbs of New Orleans a couple months ago and I’ll be traveling to Laurel this weekend to see it for the first time! I can’t wait to support the small businesses there and maybe purchase some local artwork! ❤️
Ben and Erin, I love your show! Your show just happens to be my favorite of all the home renovation shows! I hope to visit Laurel in the near future! I like the fact that ya’ll can take a property that seems to have little or no value and make a masterpiece out of it! Great!!

Laurel is not as small of a town as they make it on TV. There is a population of 18,000 to 20,000. There are several exits from the interstate for Laurel. As of June, 2021, you could not navigate downtown too well because they have the streets torn up and it looks like it's gonna be a while before the construction is done but can easily access the Mercantile and the Scottsman work shop. I have my husband watching y'alls shows on Sundays. Sometimes all day! Lol! Keep up the good work! Is there any way I can get some advice about an 8x8 real stone fireplace in the center of my house?
What I like most is that they don’t go into the “omg we encountered a terrible problem that’s going to eat all the budget” fake drama that these shows put up.
My husband and I are looking to retire in Laurel and would love to have Erin and Ben do a home that would be perfect for us. Please let me know how to be in the running for a house in Laurel.
I really enjoy the show. It's amazing to see the different architecture in a small town. What I'm curious is if any of the material is repurposed through salvage yards or Habit for Humanity stores. In so many of these HGTV remodeling shows they just go in with sludge hammers a blazing for the sake of theater. There seems to be a waist of good reusable stuff that someone on a less of a budget could use. Example: bathtubs, cabinetry and wood.
Ben and Erin are my favorite HGTV hosts. They even out rank Chip and Joanna. Chip has irritated me for sometime. He's a big mouth that won't let Joanna talk. He endlessly interrupts her. Ben and Erin are so natural and real and their designs are the best. COZY COZY. Also cannot stand the Scott twins. Phoney Phoney. And I hate their style.
There's a lot that goes on off-camera. inspections are most certainly required. Not sure about architects, I can change my house however I want without one. Engineers probably if they're doing something like opening up a room that requires removing a load barring wall.

My cousin’s an accountant and an old coworker of his runs this couple’s renovation account. The wife is definitely not who she seems. The old coworker said that she bitches quite a bit and has to have everything her way or no way. And this is not the only story from a relative or family friend of mine that I’ve heard about this woman. An old coworker of my mom’s said that a relative/family friend of hers saw the couple while they were out and simply got a picture with the couple, and nothing more. Then as soon as said relative/family friend was saying thank you to the couple, the wife immediately said, “You CAN’T post that anywhere.” in a very entitled and bitchy tone. I’m a Mississippi native and love what this couple are doing for the Laurel community, however, the wife of the couple just seems to be superficial and entitled in actuality is all.
