"I see this badboy, I 'it the roof."
Never was anything said any better than that.
"We all know King Henry the Eighf."
And I am hooked! LOL
Same😼
This is still more accurate than The Tudors.
Midnight Blue yes but it was still a good show 😂
Lol all i can think of is him going "SHE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HER PAINTING! BRING HOLBEIN TO ME!" 😂😂
Ha, the Tudors was occasionally based on true stories, which is better than most period dramas.
@@wolfganghendery8298 like The Great
Still entertaining
Cheers to that mate
LMFAO!!! "I'm pretty good at photo... paintings!!" O_0
The problem is, drunk Rob Beckett (and I'm sure other comedians too) is pretty much Rob Beckett on a panel show. If he were to retell a historical event sober, it'd come out fairly similar.
I wouldn't call that a problem really...
Nielsch Erkensch It negates the need to be drunk - I'm getting what I expect, making it not as funny.
That's why I tend to prefer the US version. The US presenters unselfconsciously ramble but the Brits, despite drinking enough alcohol to render me comatose, still feel a need to maintain control and be clever. Most of the time they are trying to deliver the same lines they would if they were sober. Which completely misses the premise of the show.
@@dlxmarks I mean they need to have them drink more, it's not an unreasonable amount to drink on a night out in the UK.
They should get David Mitchell on this, he'd be awesome
Mike i'd kill to see this
or Phil Mitchell
Mike "The Battle of Stalingrad...."
WWII, the Battle of the Bulge
“She’s proper fit, Holburn” 😂😂
Rob Beckett's voice is perfect for this.
"I dunno if you've ever seen anyone ravaged by smallpox... it's like gremlins...
The money quote: “I don’t know if you’ve ever seen anyone ravaged by smallpox.” Cheers, Rob.
This really has the tone of a quite loud bloke in the pub who won't leave you alone but it doesn't bother you that much
"I've hit the roof" I'm crying😂
Actually, Anne of Cleves was described by other contemporaries as not bad, and actually kinda pretty. What she did have were the pits from after small pox. This does not make you look like an ugly man. Also she was taller and broader shouldered than Henry's other 5 wives which may have been a factor in Henry's repulsion
Henry's problem is that he liked the sassy flirty (young) women at court. But then he married them and expected them to suddenly become these saintly mother figures. Stupid.
Henry tried his little disguise trick on Anne of Cleeves but she just thought it was stupid and definitely NOT charming and fun. Seems like mostly Henry was cranky she didn't "have a sense of humour" (translation: "She doesn't laugh at MY jokes."
Although this is comedy so it's obviously exagerrated for comedy effect
Are you calling into question the accuracy of drunken history, sir?
zammmerjammer I mean, she was German after all. It’s not a surprise she didn’t find them funny. 😉
I adore the actors awkward faces whenever the narrator goes off the rails
"I'm pretty good at pho-gbg-paintings..."
"Enry the eitf"
All we need now is High History
YESS I was thinking the same thing XD LEGALIZE
Connor Carver carter I support this 100%!
I was just thinking this myself.

These actors are genius
Just in case you haven't watched them, the closed caption translations are, at times, fucking hilarious.

Right? Part two is just as good!

1:08 Beautiful little gestures by the actor
Anne's painting is the DEFINITION of Photoshop.
How is Rob Beckett alive after that much alcohol???
Jane Seymour died of childbed fever a couple of days after her son Edward's birth, not during birth. Also, this narrative is contested. Despite his track record, Henry was a romantic. It's actually unknown whether or not Anne of Cleves lived up to her portrait. When she arrived in England, Henry dressed up in a ratty costume. He believed that if he and Anne were soulmates then she would recognize him even though he was dressed as a beggar. Anne, of course, did not recognize Henry and rejected his advances because she didn't know that he was her fiancé, which ought to earn her some points, right? She didn't recognize him but she also didn't give someone other than her husband-to-be the time of day. Henry, though, did not see it that way. He was pissed. They did get married, but (if I remember correctly) only stayed married for about six months. He said the marriage was never consummated, had it annulled, and gave her a sizable allowance, a bunch of servants, and a castle so she could just chill comfortably for the rest of her life. He likely did make the famous comment about her looking like a horse, but it was due to a bruised ego more than any defect on Anne's part.
It would have been a bad political move to divorce her and send her packing home. Instead, he treated her as a sister. Always thought that was a rather brilliant move, considering his other methods.
Woooosh
“Enwee de eightf!”

At 1:39 is the best moment
Like of course you don't you weren't there for any of it so how do you know the rest of it lol
Thanks, dad, for showing me this series.
Everyone always thinks ‘poor old Anne of Cleves’ but she was arguably treated the best out of Henry’s wives. After their divorce, he gave her a palace and grounds to live on and welcomed her to court, especially when foreign dignitaries came visiting - she acted as a translator. He treated her like a well-loved sister and his three children loved her like a mother, or at least an aunt. She escaped the indignity of Catherine of Aragon’s banishment from court, the beheadings of Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, and survived long after Henry, living out her days in comfort in her own castle. She even outlived Katherine Parr (who we think of as the ‘wife who survived’). She may not have been to his taste but she did well for herself in the end.

Marie Antoinette please
Damn I wish I had a voice like his
That final shot of Henry is way too sumptuous and cinematic for a show where drunken comedians struggle through a history lecture.
Isn’t Cromwell that guy Ryan from the Catherine Tate show?
That's the one
Wattah lad!
The actor playing Ann ended up getting a role in thaz Ricky Gervais Netflix show I think.

Is the narrator post op princess Beatrice?

His pronunciation of Holbein irritates me
he acts sober when he talks but when he looks at the camera he acts drunk
+Gilmour Keirs that's because he's totally smashed dude. lol
So 🤴🏽 King Henry VIII was catfished by Anne of Cleves 🤔
Cromwell?
Yeah, the Cromwell family had a long history of friendship with the Tudors; Henry frequently stayed at their house, Cromwell was one of his most trusted ministers, etc. I won't go into the other stuff, it's pretty complicated why Oliver wasn't loyalist and so forth, but read it, it's a Game of Thrones.
Am i the only one who thinks he doesn't look that drunk
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣🤣🤣
