Great video! I remember finding my first Red Salamander over 50 years ago, but it wasnt near as bright as some of the ones you found, probably older one..I would have been in traction if I had flipped that many rocks...
This is a great video Will! I loved the red salamander with the black chin 😊. I see what everyone is talking about, but you can’t tell what kind of salamander it is, unless I am not seeing what they are. I watched your video twice!!!! Thanks so much and have a great Thanksgiving! 🦃😄💙🐬🐊🐍🫶🏼
I've herped with this dude 15:55 is true, once he's wound up, he just keep walking and walking. I'm telling you, a pair of Smetlogik boots for Xmas. What if someone just wanted a WRW sticker? How in the world would they buy one?
I'm glad that people don't really try to keep red salamanders for pets. They don't seem like they would do as well in captivity as some species. My ex girlfriend has had a spotted salamander as a pet for 17 years now but they are easier to keep than most species if kept properly. They have to be kept cool. Personally I never really mess with salamanders or most other amphibians for that matter. I do have a few though but I bought most of mine. I have an African bullfrog, Pac-Man frog, chubby frog, cane toad and a female American toad. My American toad is my only wild caught amphibian pet.
@@strongtv_creator what do you mean by that? I guess if you are interested in watching their behaviors they are rewarding to keep. I don't handle my pet amphibians very much because the sweat, soaps and everyday things that you use on your hands can be very harmful to them. They are mainly pets that you observe instead of handle much like tropical fish.
Oh yea I saw it and thought about writing you a comment asking about it but I’m glad I waited until the end of the video 😂😂 he crests the water in the puddle at around 4:13 but you can only see his back for a second. Hey I’m sure that happens to us all a lot more often then we realize. 🤪😂
That's funny you addressed that at the end because I saw it while watching and had to go back to make sure it was real lol. It also looks like there's a frog or maybe a dusky to the left of the rock. You can see it moving before it cuts to the next scene. Thanks Will, appreciate the videos. Edit: I know I'm late to the party so I'll buy a sticker 😀
The thing that doesn’t exist in Europe. Plethodontids raise the salamander diversity dramatically. There are a few European ones, but only a few and only in western Europe where I am not. Also I felt wet and chilly just by the video.
Great video, Will. Awesome little creatures. You and Noah are really inspiring my kids to love wildlife! Thank you for all you do!!
Love to hear it!!
4:13 looks like one got away
Yep!
I saw one of those salamanders once. It’s videos like this that help us hikers enjoy the great outdoors.
Appreciate it!
Great video, love especially the salamander related videos!
Awesome, should be a handful out this winter!
Will PLEASE make a trip to Northern California. We got some great salamanders!

Love salamander szn! Never knew growing up you could find these chonky ones under water, was always looking more upland just finding redbacks
Gotta love reds! In the summer they will sometimes move further upland
Back braking work you do for all us kids to enjoy (young and old😂)
Lol
Those reds are impressive animals. I like to see all that spring water. Is that a good brook trout area?
There are wild trout there but I need to get a closer look as to whether they are Wild browns or native brooks
4:13! My wife saw it immediately!
Awesome, send me an email @william.robertson54@gmail.com
12:17 it's got the sort of squared off face of an aquatic salamander or larva. Interesting, wonder why that is a characteristic of them
Is it possible to find these guys with the same method in spring/summer (late may?)
4:13 🖤
4:14 you missed one!

Will do you own any reptiles or Salamanders
I have a corn snake that I have had since I was a little kid, but otherwise I don’t really like keeping reptiles
