Yes, I always feel pressured to do "good" work in my sketchbook because it's a hardbound book with 100% cotton paper, and I don't want to "waste" it by doing inferior work. I think of it like a journal to be preserved for all time. Yikes, that's a lot of pressure! I would feel less pressured if I used one of my cheaper sketchbooks, but then I hate using less than artist-quality materials. I will try these techniques to get more creative and free with it, though. Thanks for your videos!
Hi Jannine loved all of this. Yes l spend a lot of time exploring in my sketch books. Seeing you with that lovely box of crayons really got me going. I have 3 boxes of Derwent pencils. One box is 3layers !! I had an opportunity to buy them very cheaply about 30 yrs ago. Heaven knows what they would cost today in the beautiful wooden boxes. I used to do a lot of very detailed work with them, burnishing the colours. I never thought of abstracting with them. Thank you, cant wait to get going with fresh ideas you have given. Danke für die schönen Inspirationen! Ich benutze fast ausschließlich Skizzenbücher, weil sie leicht zu lagern sind, und ich kann in mehreren gleichzeitig „arbeiten“ ( in Anführungsstrichen, weil Kunst mein Hobby und leider nicht mein Beruf ist). Du machst so schöne Videos, ich danke dir! 😄
